Chapter 1656: Descending to the Heavenly Court

Chapter 1656: Chapter 1656: Descending to the Heavenly Court

Pain, boundless pain.

Jiang Xiaobai had no idea what was happening to him; all he knew was that the pain was so intense that he couldn’t even open his eyes!

Everything was black. His consciousness had begun to twist and blur, making it impossible to discern anything.

In this expanse of darkness, he struggled with all his might to resist the suffering coursing through his body, determined to fight for survival at all costs.

"I... I won’t die here... Yan’er hasn’t woken up yet, and I haven’t... haven’t resolved the issue of my lifespan..."

Jiang Xiaobai gritted his teeth, struggling as if his life depended on it: "I cannot die!"

"Ahhhhhh, I cannot die!"

The overwhelming agony battered Jiang Xiaobai’s consciousness, and he seemed to hear a voice whispering by his ear: Sleep, fall asleep, and it will all go away.

But Jiang Xiaobai knew very well that in such a moment, he absolutely could not fall asleep.

If he slept now, he feared he might never wake again!

He wanted to find someone to talk to, just to distract himself.

"Hey, come out! My spirit, say something..."

No response.

"System, Big Brother System, send me a message..."

Still, there was no response. Only then did Jiang Xiaobai realize he might no longer be in reality—perhaps he was trapped within his subconscious.

He laughed wryly and summoned all his strength to open his eyes.

Whatever happens, he must take one last look at the world.

Just then, a bright light flickered before him, and Jiang Xiaobai felt an icy small hand brushing gently against his cheek.

The light became completely clear, and everything before his eyes grew distinct.

Before him stood a gentle woman dressed in white, gazing at him with a smile as tender as that of a mother.

"You are..." Jiang Xiaobai felt himself on the verge of collapse.

"An illusion, hmm... all just an illusion..."

Jiang Xiaobai murmured, but he heard the woman laugh softly in response.

"Little one, open your eyes and look around at this place."

Jiang Xiaobai gathered all his strength and discovered that the woman was holding him in her arms. What met his eyes next left him utterly astounded!

Just ahead was a vast expanse of clouds, breathtakingly majestic and magnificent!

Within the sea of clouds, faint glimpses of palaces and towers could be seen, their roof edges piercing through the mist.

As the clouds churned and scattered, a colossal gateway emerged, its grandeur awe-inspiring.

Hanging above the gateway was a plaque inscribed with three gilded characters: South Heaven Gate!

Though only three characters, they revealed to Jiang Xiaobai every facet of this immense cosmos; it felt as though all the rules of heaven and earth were encapsulated within them!

"The Heavenly Court?"

Jiang Xiaobai murmured.

"Yes, the Heavenly Court. Such a glorious realm—do you think it’s beautiful?"

The woman spoke tenderly, holding Jiang Xiaobai in her arms and gently massaging his scalp.

As her hand moved, Jiang Xiaobai felt his pain dissipating, gradually vanishing altogether, until he could finally stand upright!

Standing at a distance, gazing at the grandeur of the South Heaven Gate before him, Jiang Xiaobai felt waves of emotion roiling within. He opened his mouth several times but couldn’t find the words to speak!

Could he really have seen the legendary Heavenly Court?

"Who... are you?" Jiang Xiaobai finally turned his gaze to the woman, cautiously inquiring about her identity.

The woman smiled softly but didn’t answer. Instead, she guided Jiang Xiaobai into the South Heaven Gate, leading him on a tour through the entire Heavenly Court.

The Qionglou Temple and the grand palaces—all felt so real. However, in this magnificent cluster of buildings, there was nothing; it was devoid of any living presence!

"This is my most remarkable creation."

The woman suddenly spoke: "Endless ages, cycles of time—this is my favorite place. Unfortunately, things never seem to be perfect, do they?"

She turned her gaze to Jiang Xiaobai, her expression soft and full of affection: "Everything will return to its original state. In the end, all things will wither away."

Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t help but grumble inwardly—isn’t that contradictory?

"Don’t overthink it. I can hear your thoughts."

The woman chuckled: "Isn’t this the place you’ve always most wanted to see? Now that you’ve seen it, how do you feel?"

"How do you know this is the place I’ve wanted to see most?" Jiang Xiaobai asked in confusion.

The fact that she could hear his thoughts and even know such things—didn’t that mean she could learn many of his secrets?!

Jiang Xiaobai suddenly grew nervous; his greatest secret could absolutely not be exposed.

"Rest assured, I won’t tell anyone anything about you,"

The woman reassured him with a gentle smile. She floated lightly beside Jiang Xiaobai, wrapped her arm around his neck, and leaned on his shoulder, whispering in his ear.

"As for me, you’ll come to understand in time. As for your identity and origin, you’ll discover that too."

"But why can’t you tell me now?" Jiang Xiaobai asked, puzzled.

"It’s not the time yet. You’re not strong enough. Come, let me show you the most critical place."

Before Jiang Xiaobai could react, the scene before him shifted, and he found himself standing in front of an imposing ten-story furnace!

Surrounding the furnace were various mysterious objects, though Jiang Xiaobai felt an uncanny familiarity with them.

Wasn’t this the Bagua Furnace?

"Is this... Douluo Palace?"

Jiang Xiaobai questioned, his heart racing: "The alchemy site of the Grand Supreme Elder Lord?"

"Indeed. That small one’s alchemy technique—it’s fascinating to watch."

The woman replied with gentle laughter, caressing the surface of the Bagua Furnace. Then, she turned to Jiang Xiaobai: "I brought you here to show you this. You’ll use it in the future. Now, reach out your hand."

Before Jiang Xiaobai could fully comprehend her words, he felt his arm raise involuntarily, and a drop of blood silently emerged from his palm.

What kind of method was this?

He hadn’t done or felt anything, and yet the droplet of blood had already fallen onto the Bagua Furnace. Immediately, an array of knowledge surged through his mind—the formulas of countless pills, innumerable insights into alchemy, all appearing as if out of thin air!

Soon, he realized that he seemed to have mastered the Elder Lord’s alchemical techniques completely!

His pill-refining skills had reached perfection!

"This is his gift to you. Cherish it well and use it wisely,"

the woman said softly. Then, with a flick of her finger, the Primordial Chaos Millstone emerged from Jiang Xiaobai’s body and trembled visibly in her presence!

The millstone seemed terrified, quaking as it sent Jiang Xiaobai uneasy signals of resistance!

The woman appeared unfazed, stroking the celestial millstone gently, her face glowing with satisfaction.

"Very good—it’s grown well. You’ve done a fine job."

"Did you create this?" Jiang Xiaobai asked urgently. "Do you have some way to help resolve my lifespan issue?"

"My appearance is precisely to resolve that problem for you,"

The woman smiled softly. "Don’t be in such a rush. You can wander around the Heavenly Court for a while; your troubles will soon be resolved."

"Can’t I observe it myself?" Jiang Xiaobai asked curiously.

But the woman didn’t reply. Instead, she waved dismissively, sending Jiang Xiaobai out of Douluo Palace. Standing amidst the vast and desolate halls surrounding him, Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine!

"Well, since it’s the legendary Heavenly Court, I might as well take a look around."

Jiang Xiaobai thought to himself as he began to explore the Heavenly Court.
