Chapter 1786: Section 1787: Dangerous Omen
Through the window in the compartment, a middle-aged man dressed in a complex magic-patterned robe can be seen standing quietly under the tree-shaped emblem representing the Barbarian Cave.
He is Horus.
Greya, being close to the carriage door, was the first to open the door and step out.
When Angel came out of the compartment, he vaguely heard Greya’s low mutter: "As always, icy as the coldest polar night."
Angel was a bit dazed before realizing Greya was referring to Horus.
"Cold Winter Royalty" Horus—his title alone reveals that Horus specializes in ice magic as a wizard.
"With him in the room, probably wouldn’t even need ice magic, could directly freeze Mermaid Clam slices and keep them fresh for twelve hours," Greya snidely whispered to the side, but didn’t dare to say it directly; she was only muttering to Angel’s ear now that Horus and Sanders were conversing.
Horus’s strength is incredibly powerful, any elemental aura from him is completely constrained, impossible to escape. Greya’s description is purely an exaggeration.
After chatting with Sanders for a few sentences, Horus swept his gaze in this direction.
When Greya was caught by Horus’s gaze, she felt a chilling cold down her spine. Fortunately, Horus did not dwell on her, and instead shifted his eyes to Angel.
Horus looked at Angel with eyes that still carried an unrelenting coldness, enhanced by his emotionless, different-colored eyes, adding an air of alienation and indifference. However, upon closer inspection, his gaze was evidently gentler compared to when he looked at Greya. But only those close to him could perhaps discern any change in Horus’s emotions.
Horus looked at Angel and said flatly: "Lord Rhein is very pleased that you now choose to return; he seems to need your help with something."
Angel: "Once I return, I will go to the Cloud Tower first thing."
Horus nodded slightly, perhaps by nature not fond of speaking much, he didn’t exchange further pleasantries, and directly said, "Let’s go, the materials for the Plane Corridor are ready."
Horus took the lead towards the settlement, and everyone immediately followed.
However, halfway through, both Horus and Sanders suddenly stopped walking.
Angel and Greya hadn’t yet figured out what was happening when Horus suddenly began to emit a hazy cold gas, so dense it turned into a thick white fog.
The next moment, a thick ice dome suddenly enveloped everyone.
The blazing sunlight shone on the transparent dome, projecting shimmering and flickering spots of light, creating a sensation for those within the dome as if they were immersed beneath shallow ocean waters.
"What’s going on?" Greya asked in confusion.
Horus didn’t answer; after creating the dome, he instantly appeared beside Angel.
Angel did not make any movement, for he could sense Horus had no hostility; he merely teleported next to Angel and didn’t do anything else.
At this time, Sanders also approached.
Angel noticed that whether it was Sanders or Horus, their brows were tightly furrowed, seemingly vigilant against something.
Could it be an enemy attack? Otherwise, why would Horus set up such a blatant defensive dome? Is the target me, or Sanders?
Just as Angel was about to inquire about the situation, suddenly, he froze entirely, a mysterious sense of crisis descended from above, causing his scalp to tingle and his brow to twitch fiercely.
Angel took a glance at Greya and could read in her eyes that she was experiencing something similar.
Greya’s eyes instantly turned dark, she palpated the heartbeat of her body, muttering softly: "Premonition of Crisis."
Moreover, a massive crisis threatening life.
The only one present who didn’t sense anything was the weak Asaz. He looked around in puzzlement, not knowing what was going on.
The sky was cloudless, the sun shining brightly, everything seemed fine, yet why were the expressions of the elders so solemn?
As Asaz was pondering, a feeling of trepidation arose in his heart, though this trepidation wasn’t coming from Asaz himself, but from Sebastian, whom he had offered, hidden within the void.
"Sebastian, do you know what’s going on?" Asaz couldn’t help but ask aloud in his heart.
Usually, Sebastian’s response speed was very fast, but today he seemed like he’d disappeared; no matter how Asaz summoned him, Sebastian remained silent. Only the continuous feeling of trepidation indicated to Asaz that Sebastian hadn’t vanished.
He had not disappeared yet didn’t reply—was it unwilling, or dare not respond?
As Asaz was clueless about what to do, the sky suddenly darkened.
Without warning, the previous clear sky turned dark in an instant.
However, the sky remained without clouds; it darkened instead due to a massive rift appearing, a crack seemingly within the void, blacker than the darkest ink, emerging from the rift, spreading over the sky like a living entity.
Day turned into night.
Yet despite such astonishing change, there was still no abnormal aura emanating; Asaz felt nothing. The pedestrians on the street, whether apprentices or mortals, remained as usual, with some even stopping to stare directly at the changing sky.
"What happened?" Everyone wondered.
But nobody knew the answer; Horus, Sanders, Angel, Greya... were equally clueless, the only thing tangible was the unprecedented dangerous foreboding.
"Has the legendary creature that emitted aura in the void returned?" Horus quickly asked, the alarming crisis making Horus suspect only a Legendary level existence.
Angel and Greya exchanged glances and said simultaneously, "No."
Horus perplexedly looked over, unsure why they were so certain. Though puzzled, he knew now was not the time to inquire further, he frowned: "Though unclear on the situation, it’s terrible here, even with the Everwinter Dome deployed, the brow’s twitching persists, it’s unsafe; we need to leave immediately!"
No need for Horus’s urging, everyone knew they had to leave.
But, can they escape using the Plane Corridor now? Such a vast vortex linking to the unknown void suggests spatial energy is fluctuating nearby, using a Plane Corridor here, especially a long-distance one, may likely cause one to get lost within.
As everyone hesitated, Angel said: "I’ll open the door."
Now using the Plane Corridor is unsafe, but directly opening a door doesn’t affect, as Angel’s door is point-to-point, not a lengthy tunnel.
The door he opens doesn’t transport far, but the primary goal is to swiftly leave the Sky Mechanical City and flee from this dark-ridden region.
His door can indeed be beneficial.
The Gate Model remains fixed in the Witchcraft Slot, Angel doesn’t have to construct, merely activates the magic power in the Magic Vortex, and a door appears before them.
Angel quickly pinpointed the furthest distance the Gate Model could reach, then hastily pushed open the door, prepared to leave here first.
But just then, from the center of the vortex in the sky, a bright light suddenly flashed.
