Chapter 1654: Section 1655: Exceeding the Limit

While the outside world was buzzing with discussions, Trom was still contemplating how to break the predicament before him.

The primary goal was to break through the protective light barrier surrounding Onassis.

As Trom was feeling extremely anxious, he suddenly felt a wave hit the icy surface under his feet.

Due to the heavy rain and wind, the waves were big, and initially, Trom did not pay much attention to it. But he was startled when he noticed that the ice surface had cracked where the wave had hit.

He turned around and discovered the reason.

A wave could not shatter the ice surface; it was something contained in the wave that caused the crack —

the remnants of an Ocean Troll.

These were from the Ocean Troll that Onassis had dismembered.

Trom had only glanced at it before turning his head back to move on, but just then, he caught a glimpse of something reflective on one of the severed limbs in the distance.

Upon closer examination, he realized that the reflective object was a weapon resembling a Wolf Fang Club, covered in spikes.

Looking at the Wolf Fang Club, a light suddenly flashed before Trom’s eyes, and an image came to his mind: Just moments ago, as the Ocean Troll appeared, it swung its club amidst the giant waves and sent Onassis flying.

Trom even remembered the image of Onassis looking pale, with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Trom did not know the proverb about "the spear and the shield," but he remembered that Onassis had a protective light barrier, yet why was he still sent flying and injured despite it?

Trom’s mind quickly spun into motion; there could only be two reasons for such a situation.

First, the reason could be the weapon. Perhaps that weapon, resembling the Wolf Fang Club, had a special effect that could break Onassis’s defense?

Trom shook his head internally. Although he was not an Alchemist, he still had basic discernment. The material of the Wolf Fang Club seemed to be made from sea beast bones mixed with various metals and did not feel like it had any special fluctuations; it likely had no other effects apart from the material itself.

If it truly had a special effect, Onassis would certainly have reclaimed it instead of letting it drift away.

Having ruled out the weapon’s reason, only the second factor remained.

—Onassis’s light barrier had an upper limit to the attacks it could withstand.

The strength of the Ocean Troll was very mighty, something Trom had felt himself, which is why he had never faced the Ocean Troll head-on during their fight.

Could it be that the immense force produced by the Ocean Troll swinging the Wolf Fang Club exceeded the upper limit of Onassis’s light barrier, thus causing Onassis’s injury?

Upon careful consideration, Trom felt this was indeed the truth. Otherwise, it wouldn’t explain why Onassis was sent flying by the Ocean Troll.

However, knowing the truth did not improve Trom’s expression.

To breakthrough Onassis’s "shield," and exceed its upper limit of enduring attacks, he would need strength equivalent to when the Ocean Troll swung the Wolf Fang Club. That was no simple task.

"Could it be, I really have to unleash its power?" Trom struggled internally.

From the judges’ seating area, the panel of judges observed Trom’s expression and slowly said, "It seems Trom has realized the difficulty of the issue."

To break the shield, one must possess a power that exceeds the upper limit Onassis can withstand.

Even though the overall strength of the Ocean Troll is ranked as a Third Level Apprentice, it has a natural physical advantage, which allowed it to break through Onassis’s defenses. In terms of sheer strength, the Ocean Troll’s power is enough to reach Wizard Level.

Currently, only being a peak Apprentice, does Trom have a way to unleash Wizard Level power to break Onassis’s shield?

Within the Boundless Battle Arena, Trom took a deep breath, seemingly having made a decision. His gaze returned to Onassis: "Next, I will be serious."

Onassis stared intently.

"Initially, I planned to demonstrate this strength when I challenged him," Trom slowly raised his head, as if he could see through the dome to the situation outside.

An image flashed through his mind, the person who changed the entire situation in Lassudral. A person he greatly admired and always wanted to challenge.

"But now, I have no choice but to use it."

As Trom spoke, his aura progressively elevated. Initially, it was within everyone’s understanding, but later, it exceeded the limit, reaching an unfathomable level.

Even the surrounding environment began to change.

The clouds in the sky, pierced by a powerful, peak-like aura, opened into a void. The undulating waves around, as soon as they reached Trom, were enveloped and solidified by a strong white mist.

Previously, Trom only froze a part of the sea surface, but now he directly encapsulated it in ice.

With Trom as the center, the entire ocean became a frozen kingdom!

As Trom’s aura reached its pinnacle, his body also underwent drastic changes. His body size slowly increased, and his muscles became more robust, while the skin exposed outside grew covered in snow-white fur.

When Trom howled at the sky, a colossal phantom appeared behind him.

The audience present, upon seeing this phantom, were all stunned.

It was a giant elk, comparable in size to a small mountain, surrounded by clouds akin to the white mist on Trom, but even denser and more ethereal. What surprised the audience most was the intertwined antlers of the elk, between which floated a colorful misty fog, faintly revealing the illusion of a city.

This was a mythical phantasmal beast holding up a city!

When this elk phantom appeared, almost everyone present recognized its identity.

"Cassiomere!" Farina couldn’t help but stand up, looking at the arena in surprise.

Cassiomere is an elk phantasmal beast nourished by the Frost Moon Alliance in the Abyss.

It can move back and forth in the Abyss, its mighty strength not even threatened by demons, capable of continuously bringing resources from the Wizards’ Realm into the Frost Moon Alliance’s outpost!

It can be said that this is a Strategic Level phantasmal beast! Indeed, it’s one of the most precious Strategic Level phantasmal beasts that the Frost Moon Alliance has in the Abyss!

Because, between the antlers of this phantasmal beast, there also lies a Fantasy City!

This Fantasy City can actually be seen as a Wizard Market. It is the largest material distribution center in the Abyss for the entire Frost Moon Alliance.

Farina herself had once ridden Cassiomere and even entered Fantasy City; she knew too well Cassiomere’s status in the Frost Moon Alliance.

Farina had always known that Trom had fused with the bloodline of a deer-like magical creature, but she had never thought it would be the bloodline of Cassiomere?!

"Is this really possible? At this stage, how could Trom possibly fuse with Cassiomere’s bloodline?" Farina frowned, Trom’s strength and Cassiomere’s were worlds apart; if Trom were to fuse with Cassiomere’s bloodline, he would likely explode and die.

"It’s not a bloodline fusion." Hydra said then.

Farina looked over: "Not a bloodline fusion? Then how can he transform into Cassiomere’s shape, even with illusions added on?"

Hydra: "It’s a symbiotic contract."

Hydra, being a Prophet Wizard, usually spoke ambiguously, but when he spoke with certainty, there was no doubt.

Farina was also stunned for a moment; if it really was a symbiotic contract, Trom could indeed gain power from Cassiomere.

However, signing a symbiotic contract is extremely painful, especially with such an ancient phantasmal beast, and the risk of death is very high. Why would Trom choose to sign a symbiotic contract with Cassiomere?

Hydra seemed to see Farina’s confusion and spoke again: "Don’t forget who her mentor is."

’The Pale Witch’ Quini Sudor!

Thinking of her name, Farina instantly understood. This mentor was notorious for pushing her apprentices to the limit, and if it were her, it really was possible.

"Now that Trom has Cassiomere’s symbiotic contract, even controlling just one percent of Cassiomere’s power should be enough to break Onassis’s shield," Farina looked at the arena, "This match just got more interesting."

Now, as Trom deployed his trump card, the battle took a dramatic turn.

It remains to be seen how much power Trom can wield from Cassiomere, and... how Onassis will respond?
