Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Eat It If You Want
Gu Yan grumbled as she walked into the wardrobe to choose her clothes.
She always thought that skirts were for ladies. Though she didn’t consider herself a tomboy, she wasn’t a lady either, so skirts weren’t suitable for her. She discarded half of them outright without a second glance.
Fortunately, Tang Yuxiu had prepared plenty of casual wear. She casually picked a simple white blouse and jeans to change into, and then went downstairs.
Tang Yuxiu sat as upright as ever on the sofa, holding a newspaper and reading.
Gu Yan checked the time, saw that it was only seven o’clock, and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast.
Tang Yuxiu lifted his head from the newspaper, glanced lightly towards the kitchen, and said, "I want a ham sandwich," then lowered his head to continue reading.
Gu Yan paused, turned to glare at him, and saw he wasn’t paying her any attention, which made her even angrier.
Seriously, spending time with Tang Yuxiu meant she’d eventually suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease.
Ignoring him, she went into the kitchen to start preparing breakfast.
In just about twenty minutes, Gu Yan had prepared two servings of breakfast.
Tang Yuxiu naturally put down the newspaper and came over to eat, only to find that the breakfast in front of him was two slices of toast, a piece of ham, and a fried egg, along with a glass of milk—not the ham sandwich he wanted.
He looked at Gu Yan in displeasure, "Didn’t I say I wanted a ham sandwich? What is this you made for me?"
Gu Yan sat down opposite, took a bite of her toast, and said calmly, "You did say that, but did I agree? This is the breakfast I made; eat it or don’t."
It’s good enough that I made you something; no need for all these demands. I’m not here to serve you.
Tang Yuxiu felt a sudden frustration, wondering who gave her the nerve to treat him this way.
"Hmph." Tang Yuxiu let out a heavy snort, reluctantly biting the toast while secretly disdaining—truly tasteless.
During this breakfast, one person ate calmly with light-hearted joy while the other’s heart was filled with mild melancholy.
Gu Yan finished what was on her plate, drank all the milk in one go, and just as she got up, she heard the doorbell ring.
She went over to open the door; it was You Shuyang coming to pick up Tang Yuxiu for work.
You Shuyang greeted her, changed shoes, and entered the house, not seeing Tang Yuxiu on the sofa, so he turned to ask Gu Yan, "Miss Gu, where’s President Tang?"
Gu Yan casually pointed toward the dining area, grabbed the remote control, and sat on the sofa to watch TV.
You Shuyang looked in the direction Gu Yan pointed, instinctively rubbed his eyes; he hadn’t seen wrong—Tang Yuxiu was having breakfast.
This wasn’t the issue, but Tang Yuxiu was having breakfast at home! And was eating toast with egg, ham, and milk?
You have to understand how picky his boss is—he must have a ham sandwich in the morning along with a mocha, and never eats toast, which he considers pitifully simple.
And milk—his boss always thought it smelled terrible, so he never drank it, though he never understood what was supposed to smell good about milk.
Once, a new secretary prepared breakfast for the boss, thinking milk was healthier than coffee. She switched them without permission, and when she delivered the breakfast, the boss saw it wasn’t what he asked for and immediately knocked the milk cup to the ground, and, unsurprisingly, the secretary was dismissed.
Since then, every time he hires a secretary, You Shuyang warns them sternly never to change the boss’s breakfast.
