Chapter 217: Chapter 169: Divine Silk Ascends to Immortality

"The Washing Away Injustice Talisman Book of the Daoist, its greatest function is to sense talismanic scripts!"

"What do you mean by talismanic scripts?"

Zhou Xuan felt that his knowledge of mysticism was about to increase again.

"Talismanic scripts record the secrets of this world, the ascension methods of various Tangkou, the origins of Heavenly Gods, the lost practices of incense offerings, the laws governing the operation of the human world, and so on. All of which are inscribed in different talismanic scripts.

Talismanic scripts are natural sentient beings. They are adept at hiding—sometimes in the old books found in street corners, or perhaps within the libraries of the Tangkou of Great Scholars. Occasionally, those with extraordinary talents and good fortune may find traces of them,

but to conduct systematic searches, one still needs the Washing Away Injustice Talisman Book."

Monk Zhu Jiu said, "The Washing Away Injustice Talisman itself is a talismanic script, one of the few talismanic scripts mastered by the heavens. A talismanic script can sense the presence of other talismanic scripts."

"In the future, when you walk past any old bookstore, or have the chance to enter the library halls of scholars’ Tangkou, you can infuse your Perception into the Washing Away Injustice Talisman. It will resonate with talismanic scripts."

Monk Zhu Jiu gazed at the Washing Away Injustice Talisman and said, "The talismanic script you are seeking can be recorded into this talisman. I see that your talisman book currently does not contain any talismanic scripts, which tells me you have not yet learned how to use this talisman."

Zhou Xuan gently touched the Washing Away Injustice Talisman, thinking, So you’re actually this kind of talisman—a veritable encyclopedia of mysticism!

"Master, this talisman contains an image called the Totem Hall! What is the significance of this image?"

"The Washing Away Injustice and Returning to the Palace Talisman returns to the main halls of various Tangkou, but not their physical main halls—it seeks the oldest and most enduring hall of their tradition. Some of these halls may have already been lost, becoming parts of the Unknown Land, but as long as the Washing Away Injustice Talisman exists, it will always find their location and uncover their ancient teachings!"

"This image includes a term called Tree Clan—what is the Tree Clan?"

"In the primordial chaos when the world first formed, there were nine Ancestor Trees in this realm. Some scholars say the Ancestor Trees nurtured the Heavenly Gods; others claim the Heavenly Gods attained enlightenment beneath the Ancestor Trees. Yet others believe the Ancestor Trees were servants of the Heavenly Gods... In any case, the connection between Heavenly Gods and Ancestor Trees remains unproven, with no definitive conclusions.

However, one thing is certain:

The earliest humans lived under the blessing of the Ancestor Trees, surviving in their protection.

Yet the Ancestor Trees are nearly always slumbering, and those protected by them often overlook their existence,

mistaking them for merely tall, unusual, and somewhat mystical trees.

This is why the oldest Tangkou, if their lineages have not broken, all call themselves by the name Tree Clan."

"No wonder Sister insisted on guarding the Ancestor Tree. She once said that if the Ancestor Tree were to die, countless people would perish."

"The Ancestor Tree cannot truly die!" Monk Zhu Jiu interjected. "An Ancestor Tree only withers. Once it withers, it sinks into the Unknown Land. But before it sinks completely, it will go mad, become bloodthirsty, and as a result, many people will indeed perish.

The Ancestor Tree thrives peacefully when surrounded by abundant vitality and human energy, protecting it. But if human energy declines, the Ancestor Tree will enter uncontrollable madness, just like the Blood Tree depicted in your talisman book, where its branches and leaves have withered—it is the symbol of an Ancestor Tree sinking into the Unknown Land."

"Will it ever grow back onto the surface again?"

"It requires vitality! It needs reverence, love, and faith from many devoted people!"

Zhou Xuan’s knowledge of mysticism surged rapidly.

He then asked Monk Zhu Jiu about the "Blood Well."

This time, however, he touched upon Monk Zhu Jiu’s blind spot. The monk shook his head, saying, "I cultivate both Buddhism and Daoism, walking the great path of the human world. Regarding eerie and strange sinister matters, I’ve not delved deeply and seldom heard such secrets."

Whoosh!

Roar!

The Blood Well in Zhou Xuan’s Secret Realm seemed greatly displeased by Monk Zhu Jiu’s characterization of it as "eerie and strange sinister matter," stirring waves within the Secret Realm and causing it to roar with thunderous upheaval.

"Well spirit, calm down, don’t overreact. He was merely giving an objective assessment."

After prolonged interaction with the Blood Well, Zhou Xuan found himself agreeing with Monk Zhu Jiu’s perspective.

The reason for the Blood Well’s intense anger might be—falsehoods can’t hurt, only the truth cuts like a sharp knife?

"Master, you said you practice both Buddhism and Daoism. Don’t the souls of Jing Country folk, who make vows to deities, only allow one line of incense cultivation?"

"I am not just one person."

With a mere wave of his hand, Monk Zhu Jiu’s figure split into two beings.

One carried a sharp and austere look, while the other exuded solemn dignity.

"I was originally two people. Surely, you’ve heard the rumors circulating among the Evil Monks of Qiye Temple, claiming that I was once a Taoist and later converted to Buddhism.

The truth, however, is not so."

Monk Zhu Jiu explained, "A Taoist is a Taoist, and a monk is a monk. The Taoist is called Wuliang Taoist, while the monk is called Monk Zhu Jiu. We were once two separate individuals—one studying Daoism at Qingyang Temple and the other pursuing Buddhism at Qiye Temple.

One year, the two of us crossed paths. At the time, I thought to myself how strange it was that we resembled each other so closely—it was as though we were identical twins.

I walked toward him; he walked toward me. With perfect synchronicity, we raised our hands, our middle fingers aligning perfectly. At that moment, a transparent ice layer inexplicably appeared between us.

Gazing through the ice layer, we seemed to mirror each other’s every move, as if staring into a reflection. I was his mirror person, and he, how could he not be the mirror person of mine?

We exerted force with our hands, shattering the ice layer instantly.

The two of us then became one being!"

"Mirror people, reflections of one another, drawn by the resonance of souls wandering in the human world. Their meetings are inevitable, just a matter of waiting...

Everything in existence possesses a soul, awaiting their mirror person!"

Deeply stirred by the story, Zhou Xuan exclaimed, "Master, perhaps I also have a mirror person! Across from my shop, diagonally opposite, there’s someone who looks exactly like me. Seeing him feels just like staring into a mirror."
