Chapter 77: Agent Hades (Part 1)

***

[The following day...]

"Hiiiii!" Agent Hades greeted us enthusiastically, dragging out a simple hi, and waving his hands.

He was sitting on the couch in the receiving area of the mansion, having tea at that time, and we had just arrived to meet him.

It wasn’t the first time I met him, but his jet black hair and pitch dark eyes still made him look as scary as ever. His agent name really fitted him well. However, his personality was the complete opposite of his looks. If he dropped his smile, he would appear like a scary yet quite handsome grim reaper. But since he kept smiling smugly like that, he looked more like a psycho out there to kill people.

"Taehyung’ah!" Agent Helios greeted him with a smile as he sat down on the couch in front of him.

I followed and sat beside him.

"It’s nice to see you. Thank you for visiting us."

I see. So his public name was Taehyung, and we’re disguising the interrogation request as a regular friend’s visit, huh? Wouldn’t that make it hard for him to do the interrogation? How would he interrogate without asking questions and pressuring them? But then again, we had to do it discreetly, or the mole would take notice and have the chance to hide.

"Don’t thank me. I’m just here to bother the first few days of your married life," he jested, lazily leaning his back on the backrest of the couch.

Look at him acting so comfortable already. They must be really close, or he’s just good at acting as well.

Turning to me, he continued, "I hope your wife doesn’t mind."

"Oh, it’s fine. You two can talk and have your fun."

"Really? Won’t you be bored without your husband? I heard the early stages of married life are the... let’s say, the hottest and most passion-filled part. I thought you might—"

I knew it. He’s a hateful person, too, just like Agent Helios. I wouldn’t be surprised if they turn out to be brothers. I could see the horns on their heads.

"No," I cut him off. "I’m quite fine, really."

Agent Helios chuckled—even if he tried to hide it, my ears heard it loud and clear. They’re probably planning to tease me or make fun of me, huh? What am I? A game? Entertainment? Tsk!

"Yes, there’s no need to worry about her," Agent Helios seconded. "I make sure to satisfy her at night so we can take our time and—"

Hearing that snide remark, I deliberately stepped on his foot and glared at him. We’re in front of Agent Hades, and he knew I was an agent and should be familiar with my personality, so it wouldn’t harm it if he saw me snapped and fought with him, right? Hah! Take that, you jerk!

"Aw. That hurts, my dear wife."

I crossed my arm and rolled my eyes.

"Uh-oh, you upset your wife, my friend," Agent Hades teased and whistled.

"I’m sorry, my dear wife, if that offended you. I was just telling the truth."

"You’re too honest, Eun-Woo’ya. You shouldn’t tell those things to me since they’re your private marital affairs. Maybe that’s why she’s angry."

"Ah, I see. I should take note then."

"You should. And you know what? I recently learned some new bed techniques your wife will definitely like. Why don’t you try it out tonight?"

"New techniques, huh? Why not? Sounds interesting."

"It goes like this..."

Ugh. Look at them talking as if I wasn’t there. I don’t want to deal with their antics and be the subject of their entertainment. I should leave and let them be. Let’s see if Agent Hades really could finish the interrogation in less than a day and find the culprit.

Seeing the way their conversation goes, I was right to think it was Agent Hades who influenced his flirty and perverted attitude. He probably taught him that it’s alright to kiss a woman without consent and touch wherever he pleases. Tsk. What a bunch of degenerate, lewd, disrespectful perverts. I want to beat up both of them, but the servants would find it weird, so I have to stop myself. Ughhh.

"Since you two are already having your own fun, I’ll leave you be and do something more productive, okay? See you later."

And so, I let them be, and talk however they wanted to talk. Go ahead and waste time all you want. As for me, I don’t trust that Agent Hades would be able to pull it off, so I’ll do my own research to at least rule out a few people and lessen the range of our search for the culprit.

Thinking that, I went straight to the office in our bedroom and pulled up my Mythos laptop. Then, I extracted the CCTV footage on the dates and times when Agent Helios and I mentioned about him going solo instead of inheriting his father’s business. There were only three instances that we talked about it with the servants and bodyguards around. Now, I just need to check their shift schedules to get the list of names and compare it to the footage to see if they match.

Out of all those scenarios, I needed to observe if anyone was behaving differently or suspiciously. Once I pinpoint them, I could then follow their trails and see where they went, who they got in touch with, who had a suspicious money transfer from their bank, or if they have secret accounts—Ugh, there’s a lot. I better get started.

Hours passed as I did my research. The maids already went in and out of our bedroom to ask if I wanted to go somewhere or needed anything, but I declined, saying I was busy shopping online. I only asked for food since I got hungry, which the head maid happily served me. She even brought some news about Eun-Woo and Taehyung when she got back.

"Master seems to be enjoying himself," she said. "He must have missed his friend. It has been a while since I last saw Mr. Taehyung visit him."

Hm? Been a while? How long have they been friends exactly? I just thought they became friends when he came to Mythos, which should be two years or less.

Curious, I asked the head maid. She had been serving Eun-Woo since childhood—according to him—so she should be familiar with the people he’s close with.

"I see. It must be my fault, I kept him busy," I jested. "Must be why Mr. Taehyung teased me so I could leave them alone."

"Ha-ha-ha. You must be right, madam."

"If you don’t mind me asking, how long have they been friends? They look really close like brothers."

"Oh! The master must have forgotten to tell you."

"Yeah, we don’t normally talk about boys. He gets jealous easily."

Wow. I’m getting good at lying.

"Of course, madam. Master Eun-Woo and Mr. Taehyung had been friends since childhood. I watched the two of them grow together, and I am personally grateful that they are. Especially when the master lost his dearest brother at a young age. Mr. Taehyung helped pull him out of his misery. If it weren’t for him, our master must have remained the lonely child he was before."

What? He lost his brother? Oh my goodness! I thought he was just... separated from him. To think he also lost him when his mother also died when he was young... it must have been really hard. No wonder father-in-law looked like that when we met before. And Eun-Woo’s goal... could it be that... they’re related to his brother and mother?

"I see," I replied sullenly. "Then I did the right thing by leaving them alone and letting them have their time together. They truly are the closest of friends."

"Indeed, thank you, madam. Now go on and eat! Look at how skinny you are, aigoo. We will look so incompetent with our jobs if you remain like that."

"No, you are all excellent. I simply prefer to be like this."

"If you say so, madam. I shall let you be and eat in peace. Call us if you need anything."

"I will, thank you."

After that, I ate while my mind pondered on the new things I had found out. Still, they were bits and pieces of information I didn’t know where to put. In the meantime, I’ll quietly observe Agent Helios more before I trust him completely. There were still a lot of things I didn’t know about him.

Brushing the topic off my mind, I continued my research. As I did, I noticed Agent Hades talking to the servants from the window behind me. I turned the swivel chair around while checking on the notes I wrote when he suddenly popped into view.

’What is he doing talking with a maid who’s now even a suspect?’

I checked the list of names I gathered again, and that maid wasn’t there.

’Don’t tell me... he’s flirting in broad daylight?! And while on a mission?!’
