Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Do I know you?[GTG]

It was unbelievable.

This much food?

Just what did his past self do to deserve all this?!

Ryan stared at the unbelievable feast before him. A dazzling array of dishes, both familiar and exotic, filled the table, a mouthwatering panorama of culinary delights. He hesitantly asked, "Are you sure I can eat all this?"

A surprising pout formed on her lips. "Don’t you trust me? Do you think I’d trick you?" she countered. "Fine, if that’s how you feel, then forget it." With a dramatic flourish, she made a show of flipping the table.

"Wait, no! Don’t!" Ryan lunged forward, his eyes wide with pleading. This was the most food he’d ever been offered, in either world! "There’s no way I don’t trust you, I was just... surprised!" he stammered, desperate to salvage the situation. There was no way he was letting this bounty go to waste.

She chuckled, the tension dissolving. "Relax, I was just messing with you. Of course you can have it," she said, settling back down beside him.

Without waiting for further confirmation, Ryan dove into the meal. He devoured everything in sight, slurping, gulping, even the occasional choke – anything to get the food into his stomach.

"Slow down," she said, rubbing his back and glancing at her watch. "We have about thirty minutes left, and we can always order more if this isn’t enough."

"Huh?" Ryan spluttered, a piece of salad nearly lodging itself in his throat. "How can you order this much food and still order more?" The sheer volume of sustenance on the table was mind-boggling – easily four times what he’d been allowed to eat yesterday! And she was talking about adding to it? The disparity was infuriating.

"Well, there’s a reason I’m a high-ranker after all," she said with a playful flex of her slender arm.

But suddenly, their playful banter was interrupted by a voice. "Can we sit here?" Two women approached, laden with trays of food.

Helen’s expression hardened instantly. "What do you want?" she asked curtly.

"The table," the woman with snow-white hair replied, her smile unwavering. "It seems like you still have plenty of space, and we were hoping to join you."

"The answer should be obvious, absolutely not," Helen retorted bluntly.

"I see no reason why you should be so negative about this, we just want to have a friendly chat with our fellow team member," quipped Lyra, her gaze falling on Ryan.

’Is she Lyra....? But she looks nothing like the Lyra from the other world,’ thought Ryan, gazing at the white haired girl.

Now it suddenly dawned on him, he was on the team of Lucas and these heroines, but that didn’t explain their sudden interest in him. If he remembered what Luke said clearly, then they probably treated him like a piece of shit. And there was also the cafeteria incident. Just what did these girls do for Luke to be so apprehensive of him interacting with them? Well, though he did plan to conquer them at some point, now was definitely not the right time. He still had to get strong enough first.

"Um, do I know you?" Ryan asked, his gaze that of unfamiliarity.

"What?" blurted Lyra, and instantly, her smile and that of Scarlet crumbled.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Scarlet, the intensity of her gaze palpable.

"I mean what I asked, do I know you?" He repeated his reply, his resolve more solid.

"You aren’t serious, right? You’re just messing with us, right?!" Lyra asked, slamming her tray on the table with so much force that not only did it scare the shit out of him, it also attracted more attention, aside from the previously prying eyes.

"Lyra! I won’t tolerate you trying to intimidate him. If you have a problem, we can settle it ourselves!" warned Helen.

"Fighting is prohibited in the cafeteria," Ryan said, not really sure if such a law existed, "So I’d advise you just leave," he made to keep a stoic expression as he spoke.

They both stared at him intently for a while, but finally retreated, but the gaze they gave blatantly screamed - this is not over.

With them gone, Ryan could finally breath in relief, but then, he felt a touch, and he tilted his face to find Helen’s hand on his cheek.

"Tell me the truth, do you really not remember them or was that all a lie?" she asked, her gaze serious.

Ryan sighed, knowing it was inevitable; she was bound to ask this question either after noticing some difference in his behavior or actions.

"Well... You know about the incident I was involved with, right?" he asked.

"Yes," she nodded.

"Well, I lost much of my memories due to it and can’t remember a lot of things because of that," he explained.

"Wait," her eyes widened, "You mean you really don’t remember the both of them?"

"Hm," Ryan nodded.

For a fleeting moment, which Ryan was barely able to register, a sinister glint flashed past her eyes.

"So you no longer feel anything for them?" she pressed, a hopeful glint replacing the darkness.

Ryan, ever cautious, decided to probe for information. "Did I feel something in the past?"

"No, no," she stammered, waving her hand dismissively, "Never mind. It was a silly question." She then flashed a dazzling smile. "Eat up, we only have about five minutes left," she said with a playful glint.

"Oh no!" Ryan yelped, shoving food into his mouth with newfound urgency. His days of limited rations had ingrained a deep respect for food. Every bite was precious, not to be wasted.

Helen watched him, a devilish grin spreading across her face. With his memories gone, he was a blank slate. Now, she could mold him into something... perfect. Something entirely hers.

He now belonged only to her.

Meanwhile, across the academy, another scene unfolded. A student, strapped to a chair in a dimly lit room, struggled against his restraints.

His mind was a foggy mess. He could only vaguely recall walking back to his dorm as usual, but getting to the elevator... nothing.

Panic clawed at him. Where was he? Who had done this?

But suddenly, a creaking sound echoed in the silent room.

As the sound grew closer, a chilling realization dawned on him. He could no longer feel his fingers.

"Mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!," a strangled scream tore from his throat, muffled by the cloth gag stuffed in his mouth.

"If you want to live," a voice rasped from the shadows, "you will tell me what I want to know."
