Chapter 98: The Dark Days Begins...

Chapter 98: The Dark Days Begins...

Acantha looked at the attackers as they all pulled up.

They were now inside the house, and all of them looked tired as they had just woken up to being attacked.

"Your Grace, there’s someone who was looking for his highness," Mildred said as she looked relieved from what happened awhile ago.

"Who was it?" The duke asked Mildred as he yawned.

"It’s the Emperor’s right hand and messenger, Your Grace." Mildred said as she looked at Helion, who was sitting next to her.

"Let him in." The duke said as he looked at Mildred, who followed his command and left the room.

"Your highness." They all looked at when someone entered, and they saw Gineo, who was looking at them like he was confused about what happened.

"What are you doing here, Gineo?" Helion asked the man, who was still looking at them like he was asking what happened.

"Your Grace," Gineo said as he greeted my father, before he turned to face Helion, who asked him. "There was an attack at the plaza this morning." Gineo reported as he looked at Helion, who frowned at him.

"An attack?" Helion asked and everyone in the room looked interested in the topic.

"We were attacked here too; could it be they’re the same?" Jarnus said which everyone seems to agree with.

"Yes, could it be they attacked at the plaza first, before coming in here?" Favian said as he put his hand below his chin, as he looked like he was thinking.

"It’s possible," Acantha said as she looked around them.

"There were even some holes near the duchy when we passed here; it looks like the attackers were near here; that’s why we went here." Favian said, as he looked at them

Acantha knew who made those things; they were from the Tenebrisayan Emperor and Evander.

"But we didn’t know that you were attacked and the emperor wanted to see you." Gineo continued to say as he looked at Helion, and looked back to her.

"What does Father want to talk to me about?" Helion asked Gineo, who turned to him.

"His Majesty didn’t say anything; he just wanted you to come with us." Gineo said as he looked at the duke, asking for permission.

"I’ll come with you," her father said as he looked at Gineo, who just nodded.

"Favian, you’ll come with me," the duke said as he went upstairs to change his clothes first.

------------

Abanoon was gritting her teeth as she was looking at the two stupid men in front of her.

The two were still glaring at each other, and Abanoon saw the two of them went missing a while ago when they were fighting with those stupid mortals.

"Have you done what I asked you?" She looked at Paul, who was now glaring at his own son.

Paul had told her about Acantha, who looks like Solaia.

She had learned that the girl’s mother was from the Klartis clan.

The clan was serving Solaia whenever she came down on this land.

Abanoon knew that Solaia had gifted them some powers, and that’s why maybe she had the same energy as Solaia because she was from the Klartis.

Just like the body she was possessing now.

"Yes, Master." Paul said as he looked at her.

"Now, let’s see how long those stupid mortals could take that." Abanoon said as she laughed crazily, not minding the two idiots who were still glaring at each other.

"By the way," Abanoon said as she was referring to Sullaivan, who was still glaring at Paul’s son.

"What was it, Ladyship?" Sullaivan asked her while he was raising his bows at her.

This mortal should learn how to respect her, who was goddess. He had been disrespecting her for so long.

"Have you found the woman?" She asked as she was looking for the one who borrowed one of her necklaces if she infused her power when she still had her body.

Her artifacts, where she puts some of her body.

Sullaivan and Paul had met each other, but Paul was always wearing a mask, while Sullaivan didn’t care to hide his face.

"I don’t know. I didn’t even see the weak Baron who just disappeared as everyone said that his daughter had gone crazy." Sullaivan, said he as he chuckled.

"You must find them!" Abanoon yelled as he looked at him angrily.

That woman! How dare she disappear like that?

Abanoon had tried looking for the necklace by sensing its energy, but she couldn’t.

It seems like the necklace was gone anymore so, as her power, she put it there.

"Paul, don’t forget the plan." Abanoon said though one had been executed.

Paul just nodded at her as she looked up.

Now, she can finally have her revenge on everyone whom Solaia was protecting.

She lost her life with those damned mortals, and now she’s going to take them, and now that there is no Solaia who would’ve protected them.

Abanoon can sense her win this time around.

-------------------

Everyone was doing their work, even after being attacked in the morning, as there were no casualties.

The plaza in the capital was buzzing with so many people’s noise as they flocked to the place.

It was already afternoon, and they were still oblivious to the things that were going to come.

They still had no idea that there would be darkness soon.

The man was traveling and was about to rest in one of the trees near the lake.

He was very thirsty, and tired. He walk towards the lake when -

The man vomited at the sight that he was seeing.

The river was black, and there were lots of dead animals that were floating there, and even at the side of the river.

It seems like they were poisoned from the water.

The man took his horse and ran away from the place.

"BAD NEWS!"

"BAD NEWS!"

The man yelled as soon as he reached the plaza in the capital and everyone was just looking at him like he was some weird thing to them.

"What happened?" one of the vendors in the plaza asked as he looked curious on what the man was talking about

While some people keep on whispering about something.

"The lake!"

The man said and everyone can see how terrified the man looks.

"The lake!" He continued and everyone was waiting for him to finish his sentence.

"The lake was black; there were lots of dead animals on it." The man finally said it, which made the people who were listening at him gasp in horror.

"Are you sure about that?" One of the people asked.

The people started to get worried when the man nodded as an answer.

"Check the lake." One of the noblemen who was there said to his servant, who obeyed its order.

Not too long after, the man went back, and he looks the same as the man who was telling them about the lake.

"How could that be?" one of the women asked as she paled at what she heard.

Everyone there was whispering as they were worried about the lake.

"Aahhhhhh."

"Ahhhh."

They heard someone shout, and they all turned around and they saw some people who were carrying some as they were crying.

"What happened?" One of the men asked one of the people who were carrying someone as they were crying.

"We don’t know. We don’t know." The woman was crying as she was looking at the son she was carrying, who looked dead by his color.

"What do you mean you don’t know?" one of the women asked as she gasped when she caught sight of the child.

"He was just playing there, and after that he drank some water from the well." the mother cried as she was rocking her dead child’s body.

Everyone went to the nearest well and they were all shocked when they saw that the water was black, and it smells odd.

They all vomit at the smell.

-------------

"Your Majesty." Both Helion and the duke said as they greeted the emperor, who was now drinking his tea.

"You may sit down." The emperor said as he pointed to the two chairs in front of him.

"I called you here today, as there was an attack near the duke’s territory here." The emperor said as she looked at Helion and he could see that his son seemed like he didn’t sleep.

"That’s right, Your Majesty. It’s not just like that, but we were attacked. Someone was trying to break the barrier that we put around our territory, and one of them was Paul and his son Evander." The duke said and Helion was surprised that he didn’t seem to see the emperor of their enemy’s empire.

"Sullaivan was also there." Helion said, which made the two men look at him, and his hunch was correct. The duke didn’t see the emperor at the scene.

"How is that possible?" The emperor asked in horror at what Helion said.

But before Helion could even answer, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," the emperor said and Gineo entered.

Helion and the duke notice that Gineo seems to be uneasy; he looks worried about something.

"Your Majesty. " Gineon said as he greeted the emperor, and next he greeted them.

"What was it?" The emperor asked as he frowned at Gineo, who looks very pale.

"The-the Lake-"
