Chapter 46: Chapter 44 : Relief

Shirley’s stomach twisted violently. She felt bile rise in her throat.

"Stay back," she whispered.

Jason ignored her.

Shirley turned to Lumian, her eyes wide with horror. "Why—why are you doing this?"

Lumian finally looked at her. His gaze was cold. Unfeeling.

"Quiet," he said simply.

Shirley’s mouth trembled, but before she could say anything else—

CRACK!

A bolt of dark lightning struck the ground just beside her.

Shirley jumped, her entire body seizing as the electric charge coursed through the air. Her skin prickled, her bones screamed.

It felt like a warning. It was a warning

A promise.

Lumian’s watching eyes bored into her.

"If you resist," he said calmly, "I won’t think twice to kill you both."

Shirley’s breath came in ragged gasps.

She could feel it.

He wasn’t bluffing.

Jason smirked, licking his cracked lips. "You heard him," he murmured, stepping closer.

Shirley’s body froze.

She had always told herself Jason was a monster.

But there was a small, pathetic part of her that had hoped—that had believed there were still some lines even he wouldn’t cross.

But she was wrong.

So, so wrong.

Jason grabbed her roughly and turned her around, pressing her against the wall. His breath was hot and disgusting against her ear.

"You’ve been doing this for a while now," he whispered mockingly. "It shouldn’t be too hard for you."

Shirley squeezed her eyes shut, tears spilling down her face.

She had never cried in front of Jason. Never.

But now...

Now she felt helpless.

Jason’s hands moved to her pants.

She whimpered. No, no, no.

The fabric slid down her legs, exposing her bare skin to the night air.

Jason let out a shuddering breath, as if savoring the moment.

He pulled out his cock, pressing it against her bare ass with a smile

He leaned in, his lips brushing her ear.

"Don’t tell anyone," he whispered, voice thick with amusement, "but I’ve always wanted to try this."

Shirley’s mind screamed.

Please—please, someone stop this.

Then—

Lightning.

A searing bolt of light shot across from where Lumian stood, striking Jason directly between his legs.

Jason shrieked.

A raw, guttural, inhuman scream tore from his throat as he staggered back, clutching himself.

His face twisted in pure agony, veins bulging, saliva dripping from his mouth as he collapsed to the ground, writhing.

Shirley gasped, stumbling forward, her mind struggling to catch up.

Lumian stood there, silent.

He met her gaze.

And then he smiled.

A slow, knowing smile.

And he tossed something at her feet.

Jason’s knife.

Shirley’s breath came in uneven gasps.

Jason’s screams filled the air.

She looked down at the blade.

Then at Jason, broken, writhing, helpless.

Lumian’s gaze was expectant.

Approving

"I think you should be the one to finish this."

Shirley swallowed hard.

Jason sobbed, his voice raw. "Shirley—Shirley, please—"

Shirley’s hand closed around the knife.

Her feet felt heavy, but she moved anyway, stepping toward the knife.

She bent down, fingers brushing against the cold metal.

Her hand trembled.

She had thought about this moment for years.

She had dreamed of it.

And now...

Now it was real.

She straightened, gripping the handle tightly.

Jason’s bloodshot eyes flicked toward her, realization dawning in his expression.

"No—" he croaked, voice hoarse. "Shirley, you don’t—"

Fueled by the hatred for him, Shirley stabbed.

The blade sank into his shoulder first, not deep enough, not lethal. Jason screamed, his body jerking violently.

Shirley pulled the knife free, gasping, her heart hammering.

Jason’s chest heaved, his eyes wide with shock, his mouth opening and closing like a dying fish.

Her grip tightened.

Then she stabbed again.

This time, lower.

Deeper.

Jason let out a strangled gasp, blood bubbling at his lips.

His body convulsed, his hands weakly clawing at her.

Shirley didn’t stop.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

She wasn’t counting anymore.

She didn’t even hear his screams.

Only the sound of the knife slicing through flesh.

Only the feeling of years of pain and humiliation bleeding out with every thrust.

By the time she stopped, Jason wasn’t moving anymore. Her hands were slick with blood. Her breath came in ragged gasps. She dropped the knife.

Silence.

Only the sound of the crackling fire remained. Shirley’s vision swayed and her body felt light. Empty.

She stood over the body, her breath ragged, her hands shaking. The knife, slick with blood, slipped from her grip and clattered onto the floor but she barely heard it over the pounding in her ears.

Her father lay motionless, his face frozen in that twisted mask of rage he always wore. But now, he would never shout again. Never raise his hand. Never make her cower.

A wave of relief crashed over her, so overwhelming it almost made her knees buckle. She had imagined this moment so many times, dreamed of it in the dark, whispered it to herself like a prayer. And now, it was real.

Her chest tightened, not with fear, not with guilt, but with something raw and untamed, something that had been locked away for years. It clawed its way up her throat, a fire she couldn’t contain.

Then she screamed.

It was deep, guttural, primal. A sound that didn’t just come from her throat but from the years of suffering, from the bruises hidden beneath long sleeves, from the nightmares that haunted her every night. It tore through the silence, vibrating through her bones, through the walls, through everything that had ever held her down.

By the time the scream faded, Shirley was gasping, her hands gripping her knees, her body trembling. And yet, for the first time in her life, she felt ’light’.

She turned her head slowly.

Lumian was watching her, his ever watching eyes glinting with something unreadable.

Then he smiled.

And clapped.

A slow, deliberate applause.

"Well," he murmured, standing up. "That was beautiful."

Shirley stared at him, her mind a haze, her hands were still shaking and body felt hot and cold at the same time. She felt... alive, the dark cloud that caused darkness in her life was uplifted.

She took a deep, shuddering breath, Then, finally, she turned toward the flames. Her past was gone.Jason was gone.

And whatever came next, she would decide for herself, or would she? She had unknowingly fallen into Lumian’s palm
