Lu Yizhou’s heart felt like it had plunged straight into an ice cellar, so cold that he sucked in a painful breath. There was nothing more agonizing than looking into those eyes he was so familiar with, only to see nothing but alienation and estrangement. That was why Lu Yizhou worked so hard to gather his lover’s consciousness. Just so that he could see those eyes lit up with smiles once they landed on him.

For a moment, he could not breathe. Not even the fervent fans and roof-breaking screams could move him. He truly resembled an ice statue as he stood there. They were clearly separated by less than twenty meters yet somehow, Lu Yizhou felt as though there was a rift he could not get through.

How...?

They were still in the same world so how could Ellen not recognize him? Had something gone wrong after he told Ellen to kill Baines last time? Or... could this Ellen was not the Ellen he had met in the previous quest? Countless possibilities flashed through his mind. His eyes never strayed from his lover, watching him look away and pose under the cameraman’s guide. Smiling, raising a brow, frowning, talking with the female actress beside him whom Lu Yizhou faintly recalled as ’Goddess Lingling’.

Just then, a fan’s dreamy sigh entered his ear and pierced through the fog in his brain. "Goodness, they’re like a match made in heaven. Isn’t there a scandal that Supermodel Ellen is chasing after our Goddess Lingling?"

"Well, if it’s him, then I can reluctantly concede. After all, he’s so gorgeous!"

"Don’t you think that his face is too androgynous? It’s like looking at a pair of women posing side by side!"

Sourness crept into the corner of Lu Yizhou’s heart, squeezing right between his ribcage. Mine mine mine, his mind clamoured, that man is mine! He clenched his fists and used the pain to sober himself up lest he did something stupid like breaking through the bodyguards’ formation and kidnapping his lover away so other people would not be able to ogle him anymore.

He was not unfamiliar with this feeling. He had also gone through this when he saw the bug Regius coming out of Moshe’s room fresh from the shower. Jealousy, he distantly noticed. Yet for some reason, the sting was more unbearable today.

Ellen did not even do anything untoward for God’s sake! He was just posing together with the female actress under the director’s command. However, when Lu Yizhou looked at how he smiled and looked at the actress with a soft expression, he couldn’t help but compare it with the cold indifferent gaze Ellen had given him. He forcefully tore his gaze away and walked out of the crowd, intending to cool his head a bit with the fresh air outside.

What was wrong with you, Lu Yizhou?! So what if Ellen did not remember him? It was not like this was the first time it had happened. Lu Yizhou knew he should have gotten used to it by now but for fuck’s sake, he just couldn’t! He knew he was behaving unreasonably, getting angry and jealous all by himself but exactly because he knew that it made him all the more irritated with himself. His logic and heart were contradictory to each other, sending his mood plunging lower by each second.

People who inadvertently saw his glower would instantly make way. Nonetheless, there was still someone who dauntlessly tried to block his way. Lu Yizhou halted in his tracks and spat out coldly, "Get lost." Let alone dealing with a stranger, Lu Yizhou did not even have the mood to find out who it was.

"I–I am very sorry!" The young man stuttered out nervously upon seeing his faintly murderous look. However he still braced himself and blurted out. "P–Please come with me! He... He has been expecting you!"

Lu Yizhou had just stepped aside and intended to storm out once and for all. Yet for some inexplicable reason, he stopped to ask with a strange look on his face. "Who are you talking about?"

It took Lu Yizhou a full second to register that the young man was wearing an identity strap that all of the camera crews wore. He was clearly an inexperienced newbie. Under Lu Yizhou’s imposing stare, his face paled ever so slightly as he panickedly shifted his gaze to a certain direction. Lu Yizhou followed his line of sight only to see Ellen who still did not deem him a glance.

Could it be...? His pupils trembled in shock. The renewed hope that surged up was akin to spring rain that gently washed his barren heart. "He is..."

The young man bobbed his head in agreement like a chicken pecking rice. There was no way he could say the superstar’s name out loud in public so he could only wish that Lu Yizhou could understand whom he was talking about. Fortunately, Lu Yizhou filed away his brooding stare and nodded calmly. "Lead the way."

The young man heaved a sigh of relief. "Please follow me..."

He led Lu Yizhou out of the entertainment area straight toward the VVIP suite. The people around them were steadily decreasing until there was nobody left but the two of them. Their footsteps were muffled against the velvety carpet. Lu Yizhou’s brisk and firm while the young man’s hasty and light.

Once in a while, the young man would steal a glance at the imposing man beside him. At first he could not understand why his boss had stressed so heavily to bring the man here but somehow, he got it now. As he expected, only birds of the same feathers flock together. His boss was gorgeous yet for some reason, this man did not lose out either! Look at his face, look at his proportional body, the longer the young man looked at him, the more attractive he was! He did not have the aura of a superstar. Instead he was quite roguish, the kind of man that was effortlessly gorgeous but also never realized how charming he was. Alas, it just made him all the more bewitching!

"Who are you to him?" Lu Yizhou suddenly asked, startling the young man into forcing his gaze forward.

"O–Oh, my name is Xiao Qi. I am one of Boss Ellen’s assistants. Nice to meet you..."

"Lu Yizhou."

Xiao Qi nodded. "Mr. Lu." They stopped at room number 305 and Xiao Qi flashed the card key to the reader. A beep sounded before the door clicked open. He gestured for Lu Yizhou. "Please come in, Mr. Lu. Boss has told me to inform you that he will be done soon. There are snacks and drinks inside if you want something to eat."

Lu Yizhou nodded curtly. "Thank you."

Xiao Qi hastily nodded before scurrying away, presumably returning to the photoshoot set before anyone could notice his disappearance.

Lu Yizhou checked the corridor. Perhaps because this area was reserved only for VVIP passengers, there was no CCTV around. Rest assured, Lu Yizhou finally entered the room and closed the door behind him.

Comparing his own room to Ellen’s was just like measuring the distance between the ground and the sky, utterly unreachable. Ellen’s room was like a presidential suite with a luxurious living room and two double bedrooms. At the moment, the living room had a touch of life to it. A few branded clothes were strewn haphazardly on the couch, the table was littered with magazines, a bowl of sweets and a can of open beer.

Lu Yizhou stood in the middle of the living room and took a deep breath. It was faint but somehow he could still smell the citrusy cologne belonging to his lover. Unbeknownst to him, a smile slowly curled on the corner of his lips. Striding forward, he first straightened the wrinkles on the clothes, threw the empty packages of snacks and leftover beer to the trash can. After that, he sat on the couch facing the scenery outside and waited obediently.

He could not bear to see Ellen together with that female actress for more than five seconds but now, he felt like he could wait forever for his lover to return to him.

Time crawled by. One hour... Two hours... Three hours...

In front of him, the sun gradually descended, painting a breathtaking strike of golden and purple on the sky. Lu Yizhou had not bothered to turn on the lights earlier so his silhouette was rapidly cast into the shadows, looking particularly straight and forlorn.

Just as the hour hand of the clock struck five, the door behind him issued a beep and clicked open. Almost immediately, the light came to life and illuminated the whole room. Light footsteps sounded one after another, inching closer to where Lu Yizhou was before stopping barely a meter away. Every step seemed to hammer down on Lu Yizhou’s heart, sending his mind into a state of frenzy and mad anticipation.

A sonorous, slightly amused male voice said, "You’re the one who has been drilling a hole into my head with your stare and now, you won’t even deign to look at me?"

Lu Yizhou took a deep breath to calm his furiously beating heart, stood up and turned around. He subconsciously muttered out, a smile forming on his lips. "Ellen..."
