Chapter 396: 7.86 You Will Not Lose
Moshe was in a good— no, a fantastic mood.
Firstly, Lu Yizhou hadn’t broken his promise and he was indeed the first thing Moshe saw when he woke up. But the man had taken things to another level because instead of seeing his sleeping face, Moshe was woken up to the sight of Lu Yizhou between his legs!
The good morning greeting Moshe let out had been a hoarse groan, still tinged with sleep but so horny that he thought he had dreamed of the glorious sight of Lu Yizhou mouthing at his cock with his eyes heavy-lidded with desire.
And oh, how it had given Moshe ideas. So many ideas, especially after all of the things Lu Yizhou had done for him last night. Moshe had never known that having someone to take care of you would be so... gratifying.
He had been so disheartened by Ezra’s disclosure last night. He couldn’t even properly describe what he was feeling, only the heavy burden that was weighing down on his shoulders, reminding him that there should be something more he could have done. That if he tried harder, maybe he could have changed something — or even someone’s life. He was contemplating every major decision he had taken ever since he became the mafia leader, to see if he had missed something important. But in the end, it was Lu Yizhou’s firm and gentle hands that quieted down his noisy thoughts. He coaxed Moshe not to think of anything, to relax and focus only on the sensation of his own body.
It might only for one night, but for Moshe, it was a luxury which couldn’t be bought by anything in this world.
That’s why he did not object at all when Lu Yizhou proposed a breakfast together with Cheryl. Just in time, Moshe had not seen that little girl for a week. He had started to miss her gummy smile and her silver eyes that were identical yet also so different from Lu Yizhou’s.
In the end, the menu for breakfast today was meat congee — Moshe actually knew that Lu Yizhou was lying last night but he had been too exhausted to care. Adding on to the top notch service he had received both last night and this morning, Moshe would graciously overlook it.
Moshe did not have the habit of eating breakfast but for Lu Yizhou and Cheryl, he forced himself to drink a small bowl of congee before washing it down with his usual black coffee. He put the coffee down in time to see Cheryl yawn for the second time these past five minutes.
"Did you not sleep well?" Moshe couldn’t help asking.
"Hnrg?" Cheryl blinked at him sleepily and Moshe was struck by how adorable she was, even more when she was still clad in a yellow duck onesie. Moshe decided that he should fill Cheryl’s wardrobe with a similar style of clothing. "Hmm... I had a long dream last night..."
Without even thinking, Moshe reached out to tuck the wayward strand of hair behind her ear and deftly tied her hair into a small bun so it wouldn’t get to her mouth when she was eating.
"Oh." Cheryl blinked, surprised as she reached out to touch her head. She offered Moshe a small smile, almost shy and watery. "Thank you..."
Moshe knitted his brows. Why did she look like she almost cried? He did not do anything particularly special, did he?
He only realized how unusually affectionate he was toward Cheryl when he looked away only to meet with Lu Yizhou’s extremely soft and indulgent eyes. In an instant, Moshe choked on nothing and almost died on the spot. He did it again! Lu Yizhou might not be a man of words but Moshe had come to realize that his eyes spoke volumes, so loud as if Moshe could hear him saying ’I love you so much’ inside his own mind!
He had done it last night when he helped Moshe bathe and now, he did it again! Was he afraid that Moshe would not know what he was feeling?!
He blindly shot out his leg to kick Lu Yizhou under the table. Lu Yizhou’s eyes flicked to him in surprise and in exchange, Moshe gave him a silent glare of warning. "Eat your food and stop daydreaming," he said sternly.
Lu Yizhou huffed out a small chuckle as if he knew what Moshe was thinking about — how dare he! — and complied easily. "Okay." He finished his meal quickly and Moshe tried not to gush about how adorable he looked with his cheeks stuffed like a squirrel.
"Actually, there’s something I want to tell you," he said after putting down the utensils. Moshe quietly raised a brow and gave him a gesture to go ahead. Was it about the thing he said before they fell asleep last night?
Lu Yizhou’s eyes darted to Cheryl for a split second before returning to Moshe. "I know it will be confusing and very absurd to you but... I do not think it’s fair to keep you in the dark any longer, not for you and especially not for Cheryl."
Cheryl snapped her head up from her bowl, mouth agape in shock. "Brother...?"
Lu Yizhou offered her a small, reassuring smile before dropping a bomb that instantly blasted Moshe’s mind to pieces. "It’s okay if you want to call me Daddy. No need to force yourself."
Moshe could feel his jaws dropping to the ground, especially when tears pooled in Cheryl’s eyes as she called out with deep emotions. "Daddy..."
What. The. Fuck...!
Because it wasn’t enough just to scream it in his mind, he cursed out loud, unable to help himself even in the presence of a child. He was shocked into standing up, his chair screeching loudly against the floor. "What the fuck, Lu Yizhou!"
He was not actually Cheryl’s brother but her... her father instead?! So in other words, Cheryl was his illegitimate child? With whom?!
When he thought of how some random woman had conceived Lu Yizhou’s child, Moshe instantly saw red, seething. A rage like never before rushed to the top of his head, a wave of boiling lava that burned every single thought in his mind to ashes and following it was... pain. A throbbing pain inside his ribcage where his heart lay, almost making him double over to clutch where it was hurting the most.
Alas, before he could even move his rigid body, Cheryl jumped down from her chair and dashed toward him dauntlessly, hugging his leg like how she always did. And then she cried out, "Mommy!"
Moshe felt as if the ground beneath him had turned into water and he was suddenly sinking, trying to keep his head out of the surface for a fresh gulp of air. Heavens... if only he had a history of a heart attack, then he would have died and ascended twice over! He wheezed out, "What... did you just call me...?"
"Mommy!" Cheryl obediently chirped out, unaware that she had almost sent Moshe to his early grave. "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy! I have been waiting for so long to call you this!"
"Sweetheart," Lu Yizhou grabbed his elbow and led him to sit down. He looked concerned yet also amused and mirthful at the same time. Moshe would love to punch that look away from his face if he could just feel his limbs now. "Sweetheart, take a deep breath." Lu Yizhou rubbed his back in an attempt to comfort. "There’s a reason why I waited so long to tell you. I was afraid that you wouldn’t be able to accept it."
Moshe sent him a vicious glare, wishing he could bite Lu Yizhou’s head off. What kind of reaction did Lu Yizhou expect from him? That he could just nod in acceptance and go on with his day as if nothing happened? He had not even bedded a woman before, had never had his sperm donated into the sperm bank either, so how the hell did he suddenly become a m–mommy?! He gritted out, "Explain!"
Moshe was grateful that he had sent everyone in the vicinity away earlier, thinking that Cheryl would become uncomfortable if she was stared at by a dozen bulky men when she was eating, otherwise these... these utterly baffling sentences that came out from Lu Yizhou’s mouth one after another, a tale of a strange world he had never heard before, a story so mind-blowing that it could only be found in the silliest romance novels... his men would undoubtedly think that Lu Yizhou had lost his goddamn mind!
Moshe was holding his forehead by the time Lu Yizhou finished speaking. Tentatively, the man asked, "Are you okay, Moshe...?"
Okay your ass! How could someone be okay after being told such mind-boggling news?! "So what you’re saying is..." Moshe carefully said. "Another part of me... the one who is called Z... used to be a child bearing man and he... bore Cheryl for you?"
"Mn, you’re right."
Cheryl lifted her hand and piped in, "Mommy and Daddy used to call me Bianca!"
Oh God... Moshe rubbed his face roughly. He really wanted to run around the mansion twice while screaming atop of his lungs, but because he had an image to uphold in front of his men, he forcibly restrained the urge from doing so. All this while, he had been painstakingly trying to ignore the fact that he was just a... fragment, a piece of this man called Z, who was also Lu Yizhou’s lover, but now he had the feeling that he wouldn’t be able to pretend anymore.
Even more so when Cheryl blinked at him with a pair of doe eyes brimming with tears, her lower lip wobbling dangerously. "Is Mommy unwilling to accept me? Then... Then I will also be content with ’Brother Moshe’..." she stuttered out with great reluctance, the contentment she was talking about was nowhere to be seen.
Moshe looked at her, perplexed. One part of him still had difficulty digesting the things he had just heard but there was just another part... a small, small voice inside him that whispered no wonder... no wonder he had immediately fallen for Cheryl’s charm, no wonder it was so easy to lavish this little girl with attention when he had never shown interest in children before, no wonder his heart ached so much when he looked at her and Lu Yizhou together.
It sounded utterly bizarre even to his own ears but now that Moshe knew the truth, he sensed something within him shifted and locked in place; a piece he had never known would make him become more... complete.
"I..." Moshe grabbed Lu Yizhou’s cup and gulped down his cold water. He gritted out with a constipated look, "It’s not like I am unwilling but... I would really appreciate it if you don’t call me that in public."
"Oh, oh, I understand!" Cheryl perked up, tears dried up in a split second. She gave him another hug around his torso and grinned up at him with an adorable gummy smile. "’Mommy’ and ’Daddy’ will only be a secret between the three of us, okay?"
The corner of Moshe’s lips twitched into a smile. He reached out to pat Cheryl’s head, a defeated sigh escaping his lips. Well, it seemed like he had a lot of things to get used to in the near future...
Cheryl finished her breakfast merrily, smacked a wet kiss on Moshe and Lu Yizhou’s cheeks before skipping back to her room with spring in her step. Moshe had just prepared to leave for work when Lu Yizhou suddenly pulled him down again, his face solemn. "Now that the child is gone, there’s something else I must tell you. It’s the thing from last night."
Moshe let out an exasperated groan. "Come again? So the news about Cheryl is not the main thing you want to talk to me about?"
"No." A small smile flickered in Lu Yizhou’s eyes and swiftly disappeared. "It’s about Zion. Last night... he finally regained consciousness." Moshe startled but before he could say anything, Lu Yizhou clasped his hand tightly and quelled his fear. "Don’t worry, he didn’t see me. I left before he could wake up." Moshe relaxed visibly after hearing that. Ah, he had forgotten how Lu Yizhou could read his mind sometimes.
"So, if he did not see you, why do we have to talk about him?" Moshe demanded grumpily.
Lu Yizhou heaved out a sigh. "It seems like the bug has caused some disturbance. Zion... He might already know the things I have told you before, specifically about the original plot." He squeezed Moshe’s hand tighter. "Do you understand, Moshe? Even if we have eradicated the traitor, Zion will still be able to locate you."
Moshe’s expression turned grave as soon as he registered the meaning behind Lu Yizhou’s words. Without Ezra, then no one could open the back door for Zion to plant his bombs and destroyed most of The Void’s property. But it would be a different case altogether if Zion were to attain the original plot.
Judging from his nickname the ’Ice Madman’ then... this meant war between two major mafia clans and this time, Zion would have the upper hand.
Just thinking about it was enough to make Moshe break out in cold sweat. "W–What? Am I too late already...?"
"No," Lu Yizhou answered firmly. His solid and all encompassing presence somehow managed to anchor Moshe back to the ground. "Do not panic, Moshe. He knows the consequences of going against you. He knows he will receive a painful death and it will hold him back. Somehow. But there’s no time to waste." He surprised Moshe by standing up and pulling Moshe along with him. "Take me to Hector. Zion may have the information of your territory but it doesn’t mean that we can’t get it too."
Lu Yizhou’s lips curled into a chilling smile Moshe had never seen before. Somehow, it sent shivers down his spine. Goddamnit, how could he look so hot even at a time like this? "Rest assured, sweetheart. As long as I am here, you will not lose."
