Chapter 307: 6.67 I Will Miss You

"Hey. I know you’re not sleeping. Hey!"

"Shut up." Jillian groaned and mushed his face into the pillow that still somehow smelled of Lu Yizhou. Even though God needed no sleep, it didn’t mean that he wasn’t tired. Lu Yizhou that brute! Izher too, both of them were equally insane! He still got shudders whenever he recalled the stunt the other two had put him through. What did they think he was? An elastic band?! "Don’t talk to me or else."

"Or else what?" Izher challenged.

Jillian turned his head sideways to glare at Izher. It was so easy to shoot out one feet to kick Izher’s shin now that they were lying side by side. Jillian’s face turned smug when Izher let out a hiss of pain.

"You...!" He fumed. "You’re lucky that I can’t move right now or else!"

"Or else what?" Jillian gleefully threw the words back to him. "Serves you right! You’re the one who kept telling Lu Yizhou to go harder. Look at how hard he wrecked you." He tsked in schadenfreude. "Can you even get out of bed tomorrow?"

"It’s my utmost pleasure to be incapacitated by Lu Yizhou," Izher declared dreamily. Ew, Jillian thought. "Don’t pretend that you didn’t enjoy it, dimwit. I bet everyone in the manor could hear your lewd moans."

Flush spread across Jillian’s cheeks down to his neck. That wasn’t true, Jillian knew. Lu Yizhou and Izher had made sure to erect a ward around the room to keep people from entering and listening in but still...

Just the thought of those people — the servants who had been by his side for years, the citizens who were staying here temporarily until their houses were rebuilt, and Bassil. Goodness, Basil! — could hear every single second of his carnal activity, know how depraved he actually was, sent a jolt of heat through his spine and he bit his lips to hold back the gasp that was threatening to spill out.

Goddamnit, he was actually no different from Izher and Lu Yizhou!

Izher cackled, clearly reading Jillian’s thoughts from his face.

Jillian turned his head away to spare himself from the hideous sight of Izher’s face. The fact that just a moment ago he was still shoving his cock into Izher’s mouth, forcing him to swallow deeper and deeper and had a rush of euphoric at the tears that sprung up Izher’s eyes, had long been forgotten.

"On a serious note," Izher grumbled after his laughter subsided. "Where the hell has Lu Yizhou gone? How can he leave us after tearing us apart like this? He’s so cruel!"

Jillian knew Izher’s words didn’t contain real heat but he still couldn’t help coming to his beloved’s defense. "I’m sure he has some business to take care of. He won’t be leaving us just like this." Jillian turned to lay on his side facing Izher, ignoring the latter’s sulking grumble. His mind was still ruminating on the event that led to their wild fornication, and when Izher paused his mumbles in between his breaths, he asked before he could talk himself out of it. "Have you calmed down now? Can you... tell me what you saw earlier? You know I have no memory—"

"Ah right." Izher exclaimed softly at the reminder and wriggled his fingers. "My bad, I forgot. Come here."

Jillian gingerly reached out to clasp their hands together and shut his eyes as images filled his brain.

It was very short, less than three seconds. He opened his eyes to Izher’s intent gaze. "How is it?"

Jillian huffed out a sigh. "What do you mean by ’how is it’? Isn’t that just our forgotten past?"

Izher rolled his eyes — Jillian couldn’t see it but he was certain it was an eye roll. The audacity...! "Sometimes I envy how simple-minded you are. Didn’t you hear what that person said? ’Real human’..." Izher let out a bitter chuckle. "Well, I have always realized that I was lacking somewhere but I didn’t even see this coming! Heavens — I’m a fake!"

Jillian knew that Izher was trying to downplay his anxiety and as much as Jillian understood him, he wasn’t willing to play along. Not about this kind of thing. "Do not joke about yourself like that." He fell silent and squeezed Izher’s fingers. "You’re here with me, Izher. You’re warm and alive. You’re real."

Izher’s eyes widened by a fraction and for a long while, he only stared at Jillian with his huge, black eyes that were honestly getting a bit too creepy, despite how many times Jillian had seen them. He let go of Izher’s hand in lieu of smacking him on his arm to put a stop to the strange, mellow atmosphere that had surrounded them. And just like that, Izher returned to the normal grumpy and irritable Izher. Good, Jillian let out a faint sigh.

Perhaps it was the night, or the little distance between them that was just suitable for whispering secrets, Jillian found himself confessing the feelings he had been trying to quash, "Honestly, I still can’t wrap my head around this..." He waved his hand around them in a vague gesture. "I mean, I grew up here, surrounded by these people. I remember every single thing I have experienced and all of a sudden, all of you told me that everything’s fake...?"

Izher’s jaws clicked shut and he looked at Jillian with that indecipherable gaze of his. If Jillian didn’t know any better, he might even think that Izher looked a bit... sad.

"I can’t..." Jillian choked on his words and his eyes blurred. Was he crying? Damn it, how could he possibly cry in front of Izher of all people?! "When the time comes for us to leave, will I... will I disappear? Will I—"

Izher moved so suddenly that Jillian completely missed it. Before he knew it, he was already held in Izher’s arms with his head pressed to the crook of the other’s neck. "No, you won’t disappear. You will still be you and I will still be me. Nothing will have to change." He added after Jillian wiped his snot on his bare skin. "...To be honest, I will miss arguing with you all the time."

Jillian was so surprised to hear such a sentence coming out of Izher’s mouth that he barked out a laugh. Izher yanked on his hair, offended. "No, I don’t mean anything by that. It’s just that..." Since when did Izher become so thoughtful and kind? It was so unlike him. Seriously, this could be one of the top three moments he could blackmail Izher with all the time.

But time was what they didn’t have, wasn’t it? Jillian still had no clear idea what might happen once he and Izher merged with each other but... there would no longer be individuals named ’Izher’ or ’Jillian’, despite what Izher had been telling him.

He leaned his forehead against Izher’s chest, mumbling. "You’re right. I will miss you..." He pulled his head back and threatened with a sharp look. "And don’t tell Lu Yizhou that I cried."

Izher snorted. "He will notice, I’m certain. That man has sixth sense when it comes to us, you know?"

Jillian couldn’t help it. He laughed again and this time, Izher joined along. They broke out into bursts of giggles and when it subsided, they would start again once they caught each other’s eyes.

Now that Jillian looked back, it was funny how he used to hate Izher so much that he would stab him with his sword. If someone asked him a month ago that he would lay together with Izher on the bed, naked and giggling for no obvious reasons, he would definitely cut that person’s tongue off and shoved it down their throat. How ridiculous!

They breathed heavily, tears clinging onto their lashes as they slowly controlled their laughter.

"One thing for certain." Izher bumped their foreheads together and closed his eyes with a faint smile on his lips. "No matter how many times we are reborn, our heart will only yearn for one person."

Jillian hummed with a smile. He, too, closed his eyes and recalled his first meeting with Lu Yizhou that seemed to have been imprinted deep into his subconsciousness. How could Jillian bring himself to forget when just the mere thought of that man was enough to bring tears to his eyes and fill his chest with so much affection that he didn’t know what to do with it?

"Our beacon of light."

"The crux of our soul."

"Our one and only... soulmate."

A soft ray of light glowed from where their heads were resting against each other. A spell, engraved to the deepest core of their very being. "Our soul will recognize him at first glance. We will love him, protect him and keep him safe. Again and again."

Izher started. "No matter what kind of past we have, no matter what kind of obstacles will stand in our way from hereon..."

"...We will find our way back to him," Jillian finished.

And that was how Lu Yizhou found them, after a long conversation with Cyrus, with their heads snuggled close and hands clasped together, breathing deeply with a defenseless look on their faces.

A fond smile made its way to his lips as he silently padded closer to bring the blanket up to their necks. He tucked Izher’s messy hair behind his ear and wiped the dampness on the corner of Jillian’s eyes. After that, he dropped a sound kiss on each of their lips.

"Goodnight, Izher, Jillian." He murmured gently. "My beautiful, mismatched lovers."
