Chapter 239: 5.49 Won’t Leave You Behind

CW: uhh there’s explicit scene in the end but I won’t put the warning on the title because it’s so short heheh ;)

"Lu Yizhou..." Terra’s eyes were tinted red as he lifted Lu Yizhou’s head to his laps, his entire body shaking as he cradled the man as much as he could with his smaller frame. "Lu Yizhou, wake up..."

Lu Yizhou’s eyes remained closed, blood oozing out of his nose, mouth and ears. Terra gasped out a sob as he reached out to wipe the blood away. But it was no use, it kept pouring and pouring out, smearing his sentinel’s gorgeous yet pale face.

He bent down until he could press their foreheads together, his jaws clenching so tight to rein in the trembles. "You told me nothing would happen..." He forced out in a strained voice. "You told me that you would finish as soon as possible. Lu Yizhou, you liar. You’re not allowed to die..." Tears fell freely from Terra’s dull eyes, dropping pitter-patter on Lu Yizhou’s bloody cheeks. His face was twisted in rage and sorrow as he held Lu Yizhou’s body so tight to the point of crushing. "I won’t forgive you if you leave me behind again. Do you hear me, Lu Yizhou? I will hunt you down, lock you up and tie you to my side so you can only see me, hear me and feel me. Do you want that to happen? Answer me... Why won’t you answer me...?"

Another figure stumbled into the room approaching them and Terra snapped his head up, baring his teeth and holding Lu Yizhou’s body closer to him. Danger, his instinct screamed, have to protect, have to kill anyone who gets close! His consciousness was jumbled and he could focus on nothing except for Lu Yizhou’s weak heartbeats and his faint breath, the only anchor that strung his thin sanity together and kept him from shattering.

"Calm down." General Ethan lifted both hands and coughed blood into his fist. Even though he was a S rank sentinel, this kiddo’s attack was clearly no joke! If his instinct hadn’t been honed during the war, he would have been blown to pieces. "I mean no harm to you and your sentinel."

"He won’t be able to hear you, Ethan. Not anymore." Doctor Wyatt caught up behind him. His white coat had been stained by grime and blood smeared his pale face. At least, his body was still intact. He kept his eyes on Terra with a helpless yet wary look, preparing himself if the guide were to attack once again. "Terra’s unstable condition has improved tremendously ever since he met General Kai, but in fact, that has been a double edged sword in the first place. General Kai pieces him together but it is also General Kai who can easily tear him apart. If something indeed happens to General Kai..." He inhaled shakily, unable to continue the line of thoughts.

General Ethan grimaced. He, too, was also fully cautious as he assessed the grave situation. "How is he?"

Doctor Wyatt sighed and shook his head. "The electricity has been down on the entire hospital. I can’t examine him without getting close to him." Alas, judging from how defensive Terra was, getting close to General Kai would be impossible and they had no idea how Terra would react if they forcefully separated him from his sentinel. Both of them knew that and Doctor Wyatt hardened his jaws, declaring. "We can only wait for the time being."

"Come on," he prayed despairingly under his breath. "Come on, General Kai. You can get through this."

The atmosphere stretched taut during the agonizingly long wait. Once in a while, Terra would let out a faint whimper and cry which was honestly unbearable to see. General Ethan had to pull Doctor Wyatt to sit down before the guide could faint on his feet from distress. They counted the time. One minute... two minutes... five minutes... it was almost ten minutes before the air abruptly shifted around them and Terra lifted his head up from the crook of Lu Yizhou’s shoulder with a gasp, his dull eyes brightening with hope. "L—Lu Yizhou...?" His voice was so small that it was barely a whisper.

The body in his arms was still. One second, two second... He held his breath, shoulders rigid and then Lu Yizhou suddenly let out a gasp and his eyes wrenched open. His silver eyes were disoriented for a moment before they landed on Terra. Taking in his lover’s wretched look as well as the tear streaks on his face, his face grew soft as he rasped hoarsely. "Terra..."

Oh. Oh goodness. Relief surged in Terra’s chest like someone had finally caved his heart open, allowing the air to flow in freely again. His head dropped to Lu Yizhou’s chest as the emotions he had been restraining broke like a dam. He grasped onto Lu Yizhou so tight that his knuckles turned white, unable to do anything but to vent the grievance and dread he had gone through. "Lu Yizhou... Lu Yizhou..."

Lu Yizhou immediately sat up, bringing Terra with him before he lifted Terra’s hips so the guide could sit in his lap. "Sshh, it’s okay..." He murmured soothingly into Terra’s ear, reaching out to him through their bond. He caught his breath as he perceived the entirety of Terra’s strung-out emotions. Damn it, what had he done...? How could he make his lover go through such devastation? "Please don’t cry..." He coaxed in the softest voice he could conjure, the rims of his eyes reddening as he buried his nose into Terra’s sweet smelling hair. "Don’t be scared, Terra. I won’t leave you. I swear I won’t leave you behind anymore."

Terra was still wrecked in sniffles and Lu Yizhou could feel the guide’s tears on his skin like a brand searing into his soul; the guide’s arms coiled around his neck and legs around his torso, hugging him as if he feared that Lu Yizhou would disappear yet again. A bitter taste filled Lu Yizhou’s mouth. He massaged Terra’s neck soothingly and dropped numerous kisses on his crown, rocking Terra back and forth while the guide was hiding his face in the crook of Lu Yizhou’s neck.

Perceiving that the situation had been brought under control, Doctor Wyatt and General Ethan finally deemed it safe to approach them once again. Lu Yizhou took in the two people’s disheveled appearance with a blink and only then did he notice the mess in the room. Glass shards strewn everywhere on the floor, wires buzzed with pure white electricity connected to the monitor that had crashed down from the table. There were even a few cracks on the otherwise smooth wall. Had he caused all of this...?

Doctor Wyatt stopped two meters away from them. "How are you, General Kai?"

"...Good."

"What about the King?"

Lu Yizhou tilted his head slightly and then he used two fingers to dig into his ear, grimacing when he pulled out the King. Doctor Wyatt took it over with a flask and peered closer with a gasp. "Dead? It’s dead?!"

"Yes, unfortunately." It hadn’t been able to hold out against 666’s breach into its body before succumbing to death. "But I have managed to catch a glimpse into its inherent memory. I will write everything down later."

"Oh please, don’t worry about that." Doctor Wyatt waved his hand in dismissal. "You should take a rest. We are lucky that I don’t have to cut your head open to retrieve the King otherwise..." His eyes shifted to the octopus Terra with his four limbs locked around Lu Yizhou.

Lu Yizhou couldn’t resist a smile. "One thing for sure, the parasites are finished now. You may perform an extraction surgery on Joshua and Yves." He stood up smoothly, still with Terra clinging on him persistently. His expression showed not the slightest bit of change as he hoisted Terra higher and supported the guide’s bottom like a baby koala. "I will bring Terra to rest. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call me. Thank you, Doctor Wyatt and General Ethan."

The General clasped his shoulder in reassurance. "Don’t worry, General Kai. You have to comfort your guide first and foremost. He experienced a great scare today. You too, have a good rest."

"I know," Lu Yizhou replied softly and inclined his head before taking his leave.

They didn’t talk and Lu Yizhou merely traced soothing circles on Terra’s hips along the way until they returned to their room. Then he proceeded to bring them to the bathroom and draw a bath. Steam billowed out of the hot water in the tub, filling the entire space with warm mist as he placed Terra down on the marble cabinet by the sink. Terra let out a small protesting noise and buried his face deeper into Lu Yizhou’s shoulder, unwilling to face the world yet. Lu Yizhou let him, he merely stepped closer until he got in between Terra’s legs and propped both hands on the sink, pulling Terra closer until not even a piece of paper could come between them, tucking his chin atop of the guide’s head.

"I know we have promised there will be no more sorrys," Lu Yizhou chuckled wryly. "But I felt like I owed you too many apologies. I’m sorry for scaring you, Terra. It won’t happen again."

Finally, Terra shook his head minutely, he asked in a quiet voice. "Doctor Wyatt and General Ethan, are they okay...? I have hurt them earlier, haven’t I?"

Oh, so the mess back there was caused by his lover. Lu Yizhou’s heart constricted in his chest and he wrapped his arms around Terra’s tighter, almost wishing that they could become one so no one would be able to separate them ever again. "They are fine. And no, you don’t need to feel guilty. It’s not your fault, sweetheart. They will blame it all on me."

His last sentence was so unexpected that Terra huffed out a brief laugh, which honestly sounded like cool spring water that soothed Lu Yizhou’s barren heart, loosening the knot in his stomach he didn’t realize existed. Oh how he had missed Terra’s laugh, despite only hearing it a few hours ago. Lu Yizhou could finally dislodge the guide’s arms around him enough for him to peer into those luminescent golden eyes. His heart ached at how lovely his lover was with his blotchy face, swollen eyes and reddish nose. Lu Yizhou planted a kiss on his forehead. "Beautiful," he breathed.

"Liar." Terra scoffed and rubbed his eyes only for Lu Yizhou to grab his wrists gently with lines forming on his forehead. Wetting a small towel under the sink, he dabbed it carefully over Terra’s eyes and cheeks.

"You know I am not lying," he replied.

Terra grumbled under his breath and snatched the towel from Lu Yizhou roughly. In spite of that, his movement remained attentive and hesitant as he rubbed the half-dried blood from Lu Yizhou’s face. "What... What happened back there?"

"Back there," Lu Yizhou hummed and offered his face so Terra would wipe it better, earning him an adorable glare. "I went to the same place as you, where thousands of glowing orbs were floating as far as I can see with numbers that made up the sky. I learned quite a few things about the nature of the simulator. Later, I might even be able to find out about you." Lu Yizhou sensed Terra’s hesitance from the bond and pinched the guide’s nose playfully. "It’s okay, as long as I am careful, 666 will be able to get me out everytime."

[666: *gasp* When did 666 say that?! 666 thought this was only a one-time thing!]

[What’s the difference between one time and many times? You have done it either way. You won’t be able to get out of this anymore, 666.]

[666: N—Noooo!!!! This is a scam QAQ Host is so despicable. 666 has been scammed!]

"It seems like your... companion isn’t that willing to do so." Terra pointed out with a dubious look.

"Don’t worry," Lu Yizhou shrugged. "It doesn’t have any other choice but to listen to me." He ignored 666’s heart wrenching cries and reached behind his back to pull the shirt over his head. Terra’s eyes instantly zoomed in on his bare chest, flush rising high on his cheekbones. "We weren’t able to do it last night so... please allow me to make it up to you." Lu Yizhou lifted Terra’s knuckles to his lips whilst fixating his darkened gaze on how the guide’s lips parted and his golden eyes turned dazed. The corner of his lips curled up into a devious smile as he added in a low whisper. "...Please."

Terra’s breath hitched on his throat and before he realized it, his traitorous head had nodded. He cursed inwardly. This–This was absolutely unfair! Lu Yizhou knew that Terra loved it when he begged — the more desperate the better — and he didn’t even feel a bit of shame to use it to his full advantage! How sneaky!

Pleased as punch, Lu Yizhou slowly stripped the clothes off Terra’s body, one by one, relishing in it as if opening a special gift he had been coveting for long. With every patch of skin shown, Lu Yizhou’s scorching lips would trail there, planting one hickey after another until Terra’s chest was littered with marks akin to cherry blossom petals that laid on the snow. Terra had one palm covering his mouth, eyes misty as he stared down at Lu Yizhou with such hunger that it sent shivers down Lu Yizhou’s spine. Still, he didn’t voice his desire out loud. Sitting there like the King, he merely enjoyed Lu Yizhou’s service to his heart’s content, letting out those bewitching little gasps every time Lu Yizhou brushed against his sensitive spot.

Lu Yizhou’s throat bobbed, his lips trailed lower and lower until he eventually got down on one knee to pull Terra’s pants off along with his underwear, leaving him bare and shivering under the dim bathroom lights.

His arms were wrapped loosely around Lu Yizhou’s shoulders as Lu Yizhou carried him to the bathtub and lowered him gently into the water before he settled down himself, pressing chest to chest. Flush rode on Terra’s cheeks, down to his neck and chest and his toes curled up as Lu Yizhou nipped on the soft flesh beneath his ear. "Beautiful," Lu Yizhou murmured and licked a stripe up Terra’s jaw until he could nibble on his plump bottom lip. "So lovely. How can you taste so sweet?"

Terra moaned softly into Lu Yizhou’s mouth, hands scrambling to hold onto Lu Yizhou’s shoulders in purchase, trusting the sentinel to hold him tight as the hot and thick length breached through the folds of his wetness. Terra threw his head back and let out another gasp as warmth cocooned him from all sides, burning him inside out. There was just something about making love in the water. The slippery skin, the gentle force of water akin to soft caresseses, the stark temperature difference on his shoulders that was bare to the air, the water splashing along with their movement, high and low, sometimes even reaching his jaw and getting into his mouth. Terra knew that Lu Yizhou wouldn’t let him drown but still, the thrill of it made him grow even more excited.

Lu Yizhou took his time making sweet, lingering love to Terra. It was slow, deep and languid, almost as if they were dancing to a ballad. Yet somehow the effect on Lu Yizhou was all the more devastating, he could feel Terra’s softness engulfing him, his warm and pliant body which arched oh so alluringly in his arms and his nails that tore marks into Lu Yizhou’s back; could hear his sweet gasps and cries, the hitch on his breath everytime Lu Yizhou snapped his hips forward a bit rougher; could see the water droplets that clung to his dark lashes, the rise and fall of his chest, and the way he finally fell apart with a muffled cry, coming all over his belly which was instantly washed away by the water. They stayed there until their skin turned pruney, until the heat got to their head and made them delirious.

Somewhere between the time when Lu Yizhou fumbled to dry both of their bodies and crashed to the bed where their arms naturally came around each other, the system’s notification sounded in his blissed-out mind.

[System notification: Congratulations, you have successfully completed your mission in this world!]
