Chapter 127: 3.67 I Will Expand!
Lu Yizhou froze as soon as he heard the notification. The call with Derek had just been disconnected and his fingers still hovered atop of the communicator.
The last few months were akin to a wonderful dream, the reminiscence of a life he wished he could have. He was married to the most beautiful omega who was currently pregnant with his child, his life was mundane and peaceful, like how every other normal person had; it was too beautiful to come true. He had almost forgotten that he was merely Lu Yizhou, not the revered Crown Prince of Versatine, not the winged beastman that was privileged to be the winner of life since birth. It was like a potent wake-up call, the reminder that he had a time limit, that he couldn’t stay here forever and once again he was thrown back into reality. The revelation sobered him up and chilled him down to the bones.
He waited helplessly for the verdict that would take him away.
—Yet it didn’t come.
[666: Host...?]
Lu Yizhou blinked slowly and tried to force his brain to work. [...How much time do I have left?]
[666: Host, 666 still can’t connect with the main server so the time limit remains blank.]
A frown appeared between his brows. [The mission is already completed.]
[666: Yeah, this is weird. 666 has never been disconnected from the main server before so 666 doesn’t know what’s happening. Once again, this is really, really weird. Do you want to hear 666’s hypothesis, Host? There’s two possibilities. First, we will go back as soon as Rosemane — one of the main protagonists — is executed, which is a month from now or...we will stay here until the day Oliver dies.]
So, it was either a month or forever. Lu Yizhou inhaled deeply.
A month. It was such a short time.
He still hadn’t prepared himself for it. It was ironic how he longed to be here even if it was just for a little more, how he dreaded the thought of returning to his real life. Wasn’t this the simulator’s purpose? To make him regain the will to live? But the only reason why he could manage to go through each day was because of Oliver by his side. If...If Lu Yizhou had to live a life without him... No, he shook his head, he couldn’t leave. He didn’t want to. It wasn’t about him, never about him. If he left, what would happen to Oliver? It was a stupid concern, he knew. 666 had repeatedly reminded him that the world would restart as soon as the Host departed so technically, whenever Lu Yizhou had to leave wouldn’t matter.
But he had promised. He vowed that he wouldn’t be the one who left first anymore. He wanted to stay at least a second longer than Oliver did.
Could he...?
Just as he was thinking about it, a soft and warm body stuck onto him from behind followed by a pair of arms around his waist, effectively dispersing the chill in his body and loosened the nerves he didn’t know he had. From such a close proximity, he could make out the baby bump that was pressing against his back. Oliver nuzzled his face into Lu Yizhou’s shirt, inhaling his Alpha’s scent. "What’s wrong? You look deep in thought, you don’t even hear me coming. I heard your conversation. Ryan has been found?"
"En." Lu Yizhou turned so that he could hug the omega in his arms. "How’s your sleep?"
Oliver jutted out his bottom lip. His hair was adorably mussed, eyes still bleary with sleep with the silky nightgown hanging off one of his shoulders, giving Lu Yizhou a glimpse of hickeys from their previous night’s lovemaking. He was irrevocably beautiful. "You’re not with me. How can I sleep well?"
Lu Yizhou let out an amused huff. "It’s my fault." He bent down to scoop the omega up with one arm and Oliver let out a surprised giggle, hands hanging off the Alpha’s shoulders. As he walked, Oliver suddenly peppered smooches all over his face as if he couldn’t help it and the last lingering kiss he planted on Lu Yizhou’s lips was plainly distracting. "Oliver." He warned. "You will make us fall." Despite saying that, Lu Yizhou’s steps were steady as he crossed the hallway and nudged the bedroom door open — the room they had been sharing ever since their chaotic wedding.
A gleam of teasing flickered in the omega’s eyes. "Oh, will you?"
Lu Yizhou’s plain canopy bed had been transformed beyond recognition into something that resembled a pillow fort. Every omega needed to build it as a protective measure, to offer them a sense of security both during their heat and pregnancy. Some were lucky to have a permanent nest where they felt safe the most, some had to be content with whatever available and build a temporary nest. Lu Yizhou ensured that Oliver fell into the first category.
And without a doubt, Oliver had hijacked Lu Yizhou’s bedroom and called it his own, moving all of his stuff inside and started to rearrange the furniture. He let Oliver do as he pleased. Lu Yizhou had even helped him build the nest, taking out every piece of clothing that he had worn before and snuck it in between the layers of blanket. "It’s mandatory. The nest won’t be perfect without it..." Oliver had said with a hint of tears in the corner of his eyes as if Lu Yizhou would be angry with his adorable and small wishes. Who was Lu Yizhou to say no after Oliver looked at him like that?
After a long bout of moving, Oliver was finally pleased with the arrangement and demanded Lu Yizhou to scent every surface available so that the nest was reeking of his pheromones. Lu Yizhou complied with them all and did it until Oliver exuded the smell of a happy omega.
Lastly, Oliver pushed him into the center of the nest then proceeded to rearrange his limbs until he was spread like a starfish. Oliver had taken a last look at him and giggled. "Perfect." He leaned down to drop a smacking kiss on Lu Yizhou’s lips. "This is a perfect nest. I am so happy!" Hearing that, Lu Yizhou had to suppress the smugness and satisfaction of the Alpha within.
One of the perks of being a bonded omega was that he didn’t have to wear gland patches anymore. Oliver could no longer react to another Alpha’s pheromones besides Lu Yizhou and it made him easier to pick up Oliver’s mood swings through the change in his scent.
Just like this time. Lu Yizhou lowered Oliver gently onto the bed and tucked the omega’s hair behind his ear. "Do you feel nauseous this morning?"
Oliver didn’t seem satisfied with their current distance and yanked Lu Yizhou’s neck down. Having seen it coming, Lu Yizhou let himself be pulled down until he was laying on top of Oliver’s body, careful to place his lower body away from the omega’s belly. He propped his forearms on both sides of Oliver’s head so that he could stare into the omega’s golden eyes better. Oliver blinked slowly, a coquettish smile spreading across his face. "Alpha," he purred. "Have I told you how hot it is every time you lift me up with only one arm?"
Lu Yizhou’s nostrils flared as he took in the faint budding scent of arousal from Oliver. He knew Oliver enough to perceive that the omega was trying to distract him. It was quite worrying how he managed to press Lu Yizhou’s buttons perfectly. His silver eyes darkened and his voice came out deeper. "Don’t change the subject."
"But I can’t bear it!" He whined and lifted his hips so that Lu Yizhou could feel his growing hardness. "Here you are so early in the morning looking like a sumptuous snack. You’re so gorgeous, hot and sexy. Do you know how overwhelmed I am to wake up to such a heavenly sight every single day?" Lu Yizhou could see the minute changes in Oliver’s expression and he waited until the omega spoke again. Quieter this time. "On the other hand... look at me. I am a mess. I often stink of vomit and my skin is turning dry. I found a few stretch marks in my lower belly and it looks hideous. In a few months time, I will expand like a balloon! I will look like an elephant!" His eyelashes trembled, no longer dared to look into Lu Yizhou’s eyes. "How can I stand by your side looking like this...?"
Oh. Lu Yizhou blinked as his nose picked up the faintest sour note in between Oliver’s scent. Oh, his omega was feeling insecure of the changes in his own body. How long had Oliver been brewing such ridiculous thoughts for? Lu Yizhou didn’t notice. He hadn’t been attentive enough.
"Oliver is beautiful."
Oliver pouted. "But—"
"Oliver is beautiful." He repeated, firmer this time.
He started to drop kisses on Oliver’s face like the omega did to him a few moments ago. His were lingering, longer, softer. Lips brushing across every inch of skin he could find; forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks. Oliver’s breath was slowly turning ragged and when Lu Yizhou nipped on his bottom lip, he let out a quiet gasp, nails digging into his back. Lu Yizhou licked into his mouth, tasting sweetness that seemed to intensify with every passing second. Oliver’s scent had begun to change a few weeks ago along with his growing pregnancy, taking on the undertone of gentle sweetness that wasn’t there before. It filled Lu Yizhou’s senses with peace and tranquility.
He wanted to let Oliver know how powerful of an effect he had on him, how he had managed to let Lu Yizhou gain peace which was an impossible feat to do, also how Lu Yizhou woke up every morning and had to do a double take because the sight of Oliver, dozing into the pillow with a soft smile on his face and sunlight on his skin was so ethereal that it made his heart stop for a split second.
Yet those feelings were too heavy, so intense that he feared that he might give too much away if he said it out loud. He feared that Oliver could see beyond his exterior to find what kind of broken man he was, how incapable he was to simply feel things like normal people. His tongue felt heavy in his mouth and his throat got choked up as soon as he thought of that possibility. No, Lu Yizhou couldn’t let him know that he wasn’t the perfect Alpha that Oliver said he was. He was far, far from being perfect.
Thus he opted for the only choice available. And that was to let Oliver know how beautiful he was through action. This was easier, because he needed not to think as his hands moved to caress Oliver’s cheeks, to stroke the line of his delicate neck down to his collarbone before he settled on the fated pair mark on his chest.
He bent down to kiss the mark gently and heard Oliver’s breath hitch above him.
"Altair..." He moaned softly and the sound went straight into Lu Yizhou’s ears down to his dick. He could feel himself growing erect and the omega’s aroused scent didn’t help to prevent the fire from coursing over his veins, burning him with the familiar desire that didn’t seem to cease anytime soon. He clenched his fists, veins flaring along his arms as he forced himself to stay still and not to take Oliver roughly like an animal in heat. There was something important he had to instill into Oliver’s beautiful head first.
Lu Yizhou lifted his head to look into Oliver’s eyes. "Oliver is beautiful," he rasped, wishing that his sincerity could be perceived through their bond. "The most beautiful person I’ve ever seen—"
"Okay, okay, stop!" Oliver clamped Lu Yizhou’s mouth shut with both palms, blush spreading across his fair cheeks. His cat ears flattened in embarrassment. "I know already!"
Lu Yizhou peeled his hands off, his tone hesitant. "You do?" He didn’t want Oliver to doubt himself ever again.
"I do." Oliver smiled. "Even though I will look like an elephant in the near future, it’s enough if I have an Alpha who will sweet talk me—"
"I am not sweet talking." Lu Yizhou furrowed his brow. Oliver still hadn’t understood, apparently. Making a split second decision, Lu Yizhou undid the buttons of Oliver’s sleepwear until he could part it to show his baby bump. It looked more prominent when he was laying down like this. The fetus stretched on the surface of Oliver’s thin stomach, faint white marks appearing as a result.
"A—Altair..." Lu Yizhou didn’t realize he was staring until Oliver tried to cover his eyes. "Don’t look..."
Lu Yizhou let out a harrumph and leaned down to press a kiss right on Oliver’s lower belly where the stretch marks were. "Beautiful..." He traced the marks with his tongue, intent on showing Oliver how he meant what he said.
Oliver gasped, hands fisting on the sheet. His eyelids drooped, flush deepening down to his neck. His waist painted a lithe arc and a sheen layer of sweat started to form on the surface. "Altair, it’s ticklish... Ah, you won’t stop, will you? You’re such a tease!"
Lu Yizhou merely hummed and propped Oliver’s legs up his shoulders. Beautiful, so beautiful, mine, his heart sang. Mine, mine, mine.
He proceeded to worship every inch of Oliver’s body until the omega was gasping and writhing on the sheets; all morning, until Oliver flushed the ridiculous thought out of his system. Well, even if he didn’t, Lu Yizhou would make sure to convince him every single time, again and again.
