Chapter 1364: The Natural Limit Of A Spirit Beast!

Regardless, anyone searching for her would be consumed by a single question: How did she manage to obtain such strength far beyond her age limit?

Was her pregnancy the trigger for such a rapid gain in strength? Was the pregnancy self-induced or caused by a mate?

Each of these questions could explain this unbelievable phenomenon. But without the right person to answer them, they remained nothing more than speculation.

Jaros didn’t voice this question directly to Orion. It was common knowledge that spirit beasts couldn’t be impregnated by any other race but spirit beasts.

Karli continued to stare at Orion, her eyes now scrutinising him from head to toe. She couldn’t help but wonder what his true capabilities were and who that mysterious Seven-Headed Hydra was.

The others agreed with Jaros’s question.

“You want to offer half of your territory for the whereabouts of a spirit beast who could attract the attention of a King?! I heard you reside in a swarm. The Spirit Wells there are already drying up. What value does it even have to trade for such information?” said a mocking voice.

A man with semi-translucent wings shaped like frozen leaves, each feather lined with thin veins of icy blue. His skin gleamed like frost-covered quartz, and wherever he walked, snow crystals formed beneath his feet. Mist clung to his body like a second skin as he stepped forward.

His name was Duke Silvitar.

Before he could continue, another voice interjected, “You two are disgusting. If you obtain information about the seven-headed hydra, what do you plan to do to uncover the secret of how she attracted the King? Don’t tell me you intend to imprison or breed her if you can’t figure it out?”

A tall, pale Arachina woman emerged from another side, glaring at the two men. She had eight gossamer limbs extending from her back and a shawl of glistening thread that shimmered under the radiance of the misty sky.

She wore a loose black robe and stared at them coldly with her violet eyes. Her name was Duke Crahon’ra.

They were the first individuals to take the binding oath during the Vylkr spawn attack. They were glad they had taken that risk, as it gave them the confidence to approach Orion first.

Even though they were no longer bound by the oaths, none of them dared to arrogantly demand the whereabouts of the Seven-Headed Hydra. They were all certain she was already within Orion’s forces.

Their goal was to show they were willing to offer anything just for the chance to meet her. But if the plan succeeded, it was obvious Orion wouldn’t take all of them to see her. He would take only a few.

That was why they made an effort to outbid each other. Though they had grown close enough to be called acquaintances, thanks to the rare gathering of so many powerful spirit beasts, none of that mattered more than meeting the Seven-Headed Hydra.

“My plans are obviously more than you can comprehend. I have no reason to defend myself,” Silvitar responded coldly, narrowing his gaze at Crahon’ra.

Crahon’ra snorted and folded her hands across her chest.

Just as she was about to respond, Jaros cut in, “If you two want to start a ruckus, then I suggest you both leave. Instead of stating what you’re willing to offer, you try to devalue mine,” he said, glaring at the two Duke-ranked spirit beasts.

“This only shows you’re not serious, and just want the information for free,” he added, turning toward Orion. “Just give me the word, Supreme Leader, and I’ll throw these troublemakers off this island.”

“What an amusing sight!” A sharp voice cut through the air.

A woman covered in moon-pale petals, surrounded by fluttering white butterflies, stepped forward and said, “I may not have been among the first few to take the binding oath earlier, but I understand the value of that information.”

She glanced at the others before fixing her gaze on Orion. With a smile on her face, she continued, “If the Supreme Leader gives me her location, I will gift him five of my territories, along with a seed from the Dream Peach Tree, watered with Miststar river.” She opened her hand to reveal a green seed adorned with floral and butterfly markings.

Jaros clenched his fists tightly, his glare fixed solemnly on the woman. The others also stared at her with a solemn glare. They all recognised her.

Her name was Kun’lin, a 200,000-year-old, formidable Duke-ranked spirit beast.

While an Earl-ranked spirit beast at 25,000 years was comparable to a 1st-order Demigod. And after reaching 28,000 years of age, they would be equivalent to a newly ascended Divine.

At 40,000 years, a spirit beast’s comprehension of the spirit laws was comparable to that of gods who have grasped 20 per cent of the laws of the universe.

Their bodies are refined enough to endure exposure to such a level of law interaction. They are capable of clashing with gods, wielding such a level of law without other means, using their bodies alone.

By 49,999 years, they approach the threshold to evolve into a Marquis/Marchioness spirit beast. From 50,000 years onward, they undergo a slow evolution into a higher rank of existence.

At 60,000 years, their comprehension is equivalent to 40 per cent. At 70,000 years, they are on par with divine beings who have comprehended 60 per cent of the laws of the universe.

By 80,000 years, they attain 80 per cent comprehension of their primary spirit law. At 90,000 years, they master their primary spirit law in its entirety. This level of power is equivalent to that of a divine being who has fully comprehended a single law of the universe.

However, despite this perfection, they do not undergo the ultimate transformation to ascend to true godhood, because ascension requires an act of Will and self-sovereignty. Their power is tied to age thresholds, and their nature is bound to a system called the Celestial Cycle of Spirit Beasts.

No matter how vast a spirit beast’s understanding of the spirit laws becomes, it cannot break the ceiling set by its nature. Despite being a race said to be near perfect, that is their limit.

At 100,000 years, they undergo another evolution and become Duke/Duchess-ranked spirit Beasts. From that rank forward, they begin to accumulate and master additional spirit laws, beyond their primary one.

Some master a new spirit law every 50,000 years. Others may halve or quarter this time, depending on their talent, racial inheritance, and environmental resources.

At 250,000 years, they evolve into Royal Prince/Princess-ranked spirit beasts. They are capable of effortlessly wielding multiple spirit laws. From 250,000 to 499,999 years, their mastery deepens further.

At 500,000 years, they undergo a grand transformation. All the laws they have previously mastered transform into law domains, marking their evolution into King/Queen spirit beasts.

Between 500,000 and 1,000,000 years, their spiritual essence, bloodline, and spirit laws continue to evolve, but they never attain true godhood.

Yet at this stage, unless one was an ancient god wielding multiple laws, at their peak and prepared for an encounter, it would take at most a dozen gods at the threshold of true godhood to push back or become a threat to such a spirit beast.

However, against another King-ranked spirit beast, the victor is ultimately decided by their overall capabilities.

Above that level of power is an even more mystical rank known as the Transcendent-ranked spirit beasts. It is considered the Material Realm’s equivalent of true godhood.

However, just like the stage before it, spirit beasts at this level are far more powerful than ordinary true gods. Even ancient divine beings are wary of their existence and do not confront one without careful calculation.

Few individuals possess knowledge about them. Those who do understand that such knowledge is held within the grasp of the King-ranked spirit beasts.

Despite their overwhelming strength, they held themselves back from acting rashly. Neither the Divine Corps nor the Vylkr spawns, despite their frightening abilities, could instil such overwhelming fear within them.

This is why they were prepared to exchange their most prized possessions and turn against everything they held dear for the Seven-Headed spirit beast, who was capable of breaking through this natural limit, ascending to a higher level of power, and attracting the attention of a King-ranked spirit beast.

This was also why they had gone as far as taking binding oaths to show their sincerity, not only to prove their intent but also to avoid incurring the ire of the King-ranked spirit beasts drawn to this territory.

And why they decided to carefully gauge Orion’s strength and the forces behind him.

Orion was already aware of all this. Even if he wasn’t, he would still take Iyriath Zi’ria’s advice not to enter the Spirit Realm in his true form.

Orion focused on Kun’lin. He had learned from J’garin and Iy’yra that Kun’lin was one reason they had managed to keep this territory stable despite the current situation, and also why many had chosen to take the binding oath later on.
