Vampire: World of Blood -
Chapter 218 218: Spawnhood VII
"WAIT! PLEASE, GREAT ONE, STOP!"
The voice echoed from above, sharp and commanding, catching Merciless off guard.
As the voice echoed, a brilliant light descended from above, overtaking him. The scarlet stein upon reality, as a result of Crimson Dawn, began to fade, its ominous presence retreating back the closer it came as it slowly began to be pushed back by something far greater.
From the heavens, a cascade of lights rained down, painting the world below in a spectrum of shifting, vivid hues. The landscape transformed, bathed in the radiant glow of countless colors, each one more dazzling than the last.
Of course this instantly caught Merciless attention.
His head snapped upward, his eyes narrowing as they scanned the skies. Then he saw it—a figure, or rather a spherical thing looming high above him, its form almost incomprehensible. Instinctively, his eyes passively tried to decipher it, to make sense of what stood before him.
However, what he saw was errors across the board, even when his eyes tried to simplify it.
"Error… Error… Error... Error... Error... Error...
It was the same with Delilah when he tried to comprehend her existence as a whole.
And it was the same here as well; the words reverberated in his mind as his vision faltered, unable to grasp the essence of the being.
As such, he struggled to decode what he saw.
Whatever this thing was, it stood beyond his current field of comprehension at the moment, the information too complex for his mind to understand, yet it spoke to him as if it knew exactly who...and what he was.
Above Merciless, high in the sky, a radiant light shimmered, pulsing like a miniature star, its colors shifting between the familiar and the unfamiliar. It took form in reality moments before Merciless was about to kill the Glyden leader.
Looking at it, one can tell that this thing's very shape of being defied all conventional understanding as he personally knows it.
It was a constantly morphing sphere of vibrant hues, like a living kaleidoscope. The entity's movements were abstract and fluid, impossible to fully grasp.
Golden rings of energy swirled around the light; their movements were complex as they were weird and constantly shifting, as if following some unfathomable design. These glowing bands seemed to hold the massive being aloft, defying gravity with ease. Its sheer size, comparable to a colossal moon-size structure, loomed over the landscape.
The surviving Glyden drifted around the entity, their massive wings flapping in unison, resembling a celestial guard of angels surrounding a radiant source of light. Yet, despite its beauty, Merciless wasn't fooled
He could see through its dazzling appearance; this being was far from benovolent. The moment it arrived, the corruption in the area began flowing toward it, drawn like a moth to a flame.
With every passing second, it grew exponentially stronger.
And to make things worse, the presence of Formless Light gave it an endless source to feed on, as the land was steeped in corruption. Even the tainted energy radiating from Merciless was being siphoned away. But he resisted, pulling the corruption back into himself, refusing to let it be completely drained by some unknown entity.
After all, his corruption was unique.
As an Arbiter, his natrual corruption carries the power of his originator, and the malevolence flowing from him carried the unmistakable essence of the Great Mother of Lies.
Merciless showed no panic at all in this moment.
His expression remained calm, though his wariness was evident.
His pride refused to let him display fear before an enemy, no matter how overwhelming. Slowly, he retracted Crimson Dawn, condensing it until it became a dense, dark sphere around him. The once-vast field shrank until it wrapped tightly around his form into a lesser and more mobile sphere of at least 5 meters in perfected unison.
It was so compressed that the crimson hue deepened into pure black. And yet, his figure remained visible within the darkness.
The reason for this retraction was clear—Crimson Dawn wasn't merely a field. It was an extension of his Subjective Reality brought into the outside world. By condensing it into this sphere, Merciless had created a new application of this power, born from his immediate instinct to survive against the overwhelming presence before him.
This was made possible due to Eternal Evolution; the moment it sensed Merciless desires to live; as such, Crimson Dawn had evolved in that moment.
And within the confines of this liminal Crimson Dawn, he was essentially inside his own Subjective Reality, making him nearly impervious to external threats. Only an attack capable of obliterating multiple universes could penetrate this level of defense.
However, this came at a cost.
While the sphere provided unparalleled protection, it limited his offensive capabilities. He could move freely, but anything outside the sphere was beyond his reach to attack, unless, of course, it dared to breach his domain.
The moment Merciless laid eyes on the towering being of light, his instincts screamed at him; the superior lifeform hadn't come for him but for the foolish leader cowering nearby. Without hesitation, Merciless grabbed the pitiful Glyden, his tail coiling tightly around the leader's neck like a noose.
His wings spread wide, shimmering with the same condensed blackness as the sphere surrounding him.
With a single powerful thrust, he launched himself into the air, ascending toward the colossal light above. His flight was direct and unwavering, even as the sheer presence of the entity began to distort the space around him the closer he got to its body.
It wasn't long before Merciless neared the entity, close enough to feel the pull of its immense radiance. The light was blinding, vast, and overwhelming, threatening to consume anything that ventured too close.
Yet he pushed on unyielding.
And then, just as he seemed on the verge of being lost within the entity's incomprehensible form, a voice rang out.
"Come any closer, and you will perish, oh Great One."
The voice warned, calm yet absolute in it's warning.
"My form converts all it touches into light, no matter how intangible. Even concepts themselves are not spared from my reach. Stay where you are. I have no desire to provoke the wrath of the Great Mother of Lies… I already have more enemies than I care to count."
The voice was soothing, unmistakably feminine, but it had no form to match the softness of its tone. This being, a Spawn, was something far more than ordinary. The more a Spawn ascended in level, the more monstrous they became, slowly shedding any recognizable form until they reached a state of pure abstraction—utter incomprehensibility.
Merciless, studying the entity before him, felt no doubt. Whoever this being was, she was undoubtedly far beyond a Level 3, surpassing even Keziah and the powerhouses of the House of Ghal. In fact, she felt... something more.
Merciless couldn't quite place it, but it was clear she came from a higher plane of existence. Just how high, though, was a mystery.
Merciless blinked, caught off guard by her words. He hadn't expected this being to know of AE.
With a sharp edge to his voice, he asked.
"You know my Patreon?"
The light pulsed softly, almost like a chuckle. Her voice followed, calm and easy.
"Of course I know her... Anyone as old as I am would. The Great Mother of Lies is quite the well-known figure; her presence is unmistakable, and her scent clings to you like a brand...
"That brand of hers protects you, even without you realizing it, shielding you from powerful beings like me. I'd expect nothing less from an Old God; after all, her kind has a level of confidence the New Gods could only dream of."
But such are the weird behaviours of an ancient evil, older than time itself. So yes, to answer your question, yes... I know yout Patreon all too well."
She paused, almost as if savoring the moment, before adding with a sly tone.
"You have nothing to fear from me, young Great One. Only a fool ignorant of the Old Gods' might would dare provoke their Arbiters. Pity, then, that the wretched brat you drag behind you is one such fool. That's why I've come—to claim this insolent child."
The being said to Merciless, yet Merciless pride would not allow that as he looked back at the child, then back at the being.
And what he said next was honestly surprising.
"Claim?...
Said Merciless in a calm voice; he was neither shouting, but rather just stating a fact.
"I mean, this brat attacked me first. What right do you have to take this firefly from me? I mean, isn't it common courtesy to offer something in return for his life... the law of the jungle, and sure you could kill me... but that would be unwise now would it... I am a reasonable entity; we can negotiate."
Merciless spoke with a casual confidence, the faintest smirk curling at his lips.
The higher being hovered in silence, its presence unreadable, but Merciless could feel it listening closely. He knew his words had weight here, and he wasn't one to waste an opportunity. In his mind, the situation was ripe for exploitation. The brat could be useful after all, not as a tool for power but as leverage against this radiant entity.
After what felt like an eternity, the being's voice echoed, calm and measured.
"... Very well. What exactly do you desire in return for the life of my foolish son?"
Merciless let the silence hang for a moment, savoring the shift in tone before finally responding.
"Hmmm... First and foremost, may I know your name? It's only fair to have some formalities, don't you think? As for me, you may call me Merciless Morningstar. Or perhaps you'd recognize me better by my former incarnation... The Fallen One.... Satan, the Emperor of Pride, and ruler of Purgatory. This form you see before you is my reincarnation, though my essence remains the same."
The words rolled off his tongue effortlessly, each one wrapped in calculated bravado. It wasn't entirely a lie; after all, he had taken Satan's place.
Why not borrow the title too? It carried a certain gravitas, and against a being of this magnitude, appearances were everything.
The truth of his old self...Mercy Morgan, was dull by comparison. No, this moment required something grander.
The higher being paused, its energy rippling faintly as if digesting his proclamation. Then, its voice returned, this time full with surprise.
"Wa… wait… you're the Lightbringer?....
"One and only?....
"..."
"..."
"...I see... this form is your reincarnation I presume?"
"Yes... as such I am not at my full power... in this life, the Mother of Lies, decide to test me, and here I am as her Arbiter."
It was at this moment that the great light has assess the situation even clearer now.
"I see… Well, congratulations on your rebirth, Great Emperor of Pride."
The great being said.
As she continued.
"Allow me to introduce myself Lightbringer I am Klu'Almagia... a Greater Spawn of Level 4. My children call me Mother Light... you can just call me Almagia...
"A natrual born Spawn born from the short live union of the Weeping Spectrum, and The Crow Crown...
Almagia said to Merciless.
As her radiant form pulsed faintly.
Moment later she went quiet, as if considering the implications of what Merciless might demand.
Yet the two recognize each other existence, The Fallen One: Satan, Incarnation Merciless... Arbiter of Depravity.
The Ancient born... a Greater Spawn of the 7th Bloodline... Mother Light Klu'Almagia.
Two powerful beings met this day.
An Old Gods Champion, and a Elder Deity worshiped by the Glyden and Hebismos Spawnlings.
Merciless Morningstar.
Klu'Almagia.
These two beings stay stationed, uet Almagia was the first to break the silence.
Her voice, smooth yet carrying an unnatural resonance.
"Well then, Great One, tell me, what is it that you seek in exchange for the life of my foolish son? Speak your terms."
Merciless tilted his head slightly, his two pair of neon blue eyes narrowing as he began to think.
He didn't answer immediately, instead letting the weight of silence settle over the moment, calculating how to turn this situation to his advantage. A life for a life was a serious trade... a very serious trade, one he would not waste on something trivial.
Finally, he broke his silence, his tone calm yet laden with intent, as he express his desire's.
"I want information."
he said, his voice cutting through the stillness of the moment.
"Everything you know about Protector guarding the alter of the Primordial Twins… every detail about the Spawns and Spawnlings within this construct. And I want the construct history itself laid bare to me, I will not tolerate half-truths or vagueness in this matter."
Klu'Almagia's light dimmed momentarily, her rings slowing their rotation as she seemed to consider his request.
After a pause, she spoke.
"...Hmmm!!
She hummed for a moment and then she spoke.
"Well to begin with... The Protector... Eclis'Criavcalcum is ancient entity, not as onld as I am but very old for one with Lesser blood... He is of the third lineage, but his blood like most Lesser Spawn is heavily mixed from what I know... but beyond that he is a mystery even to me. Those who venture into the inner regions of the City of Eregore never comes back alive, and if they do they are too afraid to speak of what they saw and experience on the other side."
Merciless look onwards, as he take in her words, and he began to think to himself.
"Is that so... a pity then...
Merciless said.
A little bum by the small amount of information he manage to get from this being.
If anything this just got a whole lot more dangerous.
On the other hand Almagia began to speak up from there.
Her rings resumed their complex patterns, shimmering with prismatic light as she continued.
"Dont fret too much... but understand the weight of your demand. To appease the depth of this trade, a life for a life, I will grant you a little extra to repay your mercy for lacking info on the prior request."
When heard this, he look up at the great light and said.
"And how do you plan to do that?"
And what Almagia said next took him by suprise.
"That child holds great significance to me, despite his insolent defiance. He is one of many sons I have created, and I cannot afford to lose a single one... not now when I am so close... The reasons are my own, I hope you can understand that Lightbringer... but know this, his survival is crucial to the completion of a greater ritual, one that will see my ambitions realized in full."
"So, here is my offer: alongside what series of knowledge I can give you of E̵r̸e̴g̵o̶r̷e̷...
Almagia said, as she continued her words.
And present to Merciless her offering.
"I will grant you ten of my strongest children. They are warriors strong, and powerful, although not as strong as you are, but strong enough to be a problem to most, and each carries fragments of the truths you seek. Their knowledge, though incomplete, may guide you to the answers you desire. Does this appease the balance of your trade, oh Arbiter of Depravity?"
Said Almagia.
Merciless crossed his arms, his tail swaying lazily behind him as a faint smirk curled on his lips. The offer wasn't perfect, but the promise of warriors and the knowledge they carried was tempting enough. If he played his cards right, he could extract what he needed and piece the truth together himself.
"Fine...
He said, his voice sharp and cunning.
"I'll accept your deal... But mark my words, if your warriors feed me riddles or lies, you'll find out just how creative I can get when it comes to repaying an insult."
Merciless knew it wasn't wise to antagonize a being of this magnitude, but showing weakness wasn't an option either. To appear vulnerable was to invite disaster, even if he stood his ground. So, he kept his tone sharp, his pride intact, presenting himself with the same unshakable confidence that defined him, even in the face of such overwhelming power.
When these words were said, Klu'Almagia's light pulsed faintly, as though betraying a flicker of amusement... or perhaps irritation.
Or maybe even both, whatever it was she did not show it, or say it.
But that aside, a deal was struct between them, and Merciless slowly, began to back away from from Almagia still not fully trusting her in the sligthest. However, he wanted to take the lead in this negotiation, and after reaching a good ways from Almagia, Crimson Dawn expanded otwards, till it became 30 times larges than it was around his body, casuing the black orb to expand outwards in all direction.
Merciless still hold the nameless Glyden in his tail, as he look forward to towards Almagia and said.
"Send them over, and let all ten of them comes inside my this sphere...
At these words, Almagia responded, as she said as such.
"Very well."
Almagia said, her voice steady and calm.
"I'll need to retrieve them from my Authority: Abyss Heaven. You see I keep my strongest children within the highest layer of my being, safeguarded by the Laws within my Heaven."
These were her final words before she performed the miraculous.
Almagia's form began to glow, her radiance intensifying with each passing moment, growing brighter and brighter until it seemed as though the very fabric of reality around her would dissolve into her light.
And as time goes on her light flared brighter, and as it did, the space within her began to shift and ripple. It was like staring into an infinite mirror, each reflection revealing a reality within.
Every layer of mirrors seemed to hold its own existence, and behind each one lay another—higher, more incomprehensible than the last. The process repeated endlessly, the reflections stretching into infinity.
Merciless didn't move through this ordeal.
He wasn't walking, flying, or being carried physically, none of those descriptions would fit.
It was as if his existence had been anchored in place while Almagia's being unfolded around him. What he experienced wasn't travel but perception itself, as though the act of seeing her light had become the journey through her light.
Of course, a result of this, Light poured into his eyes, not as illumination but as raw information, each reflection refracting a reality, each glimmer showing a fragment of incomprehensible truth.
Every flicker of light was a passage, and each passage carried him deeper into the boundless cascade of mirrors within her being. that makes up her complex body.
The mirrors weren't surfaces but layers, each one a dimension, a reality folded over another, an infinite series of veils. Yet no matter how hard he tried, his mind couldn't grasp the substance of what he was seeing. The sheer magnitude of it was beyond comprehension, and the more he strained to understand, the more elusive it became.
It was as if he got suck within a mirror world of infinite dimensions.
It wasn't until his sight breached what could only be described as the threshold of infinity within her endless body of higher perception of herself existence that something shifted.
His vision crossed a line... a point where the impossible became tangible. Beyond that threshold, the mirrors ceased, and the endless fractals of light resolved into something his eyes could finally comprehend.
He found himself staring into a vast, unfathomable space within her core. It was no ordinary space... it felt alive quite literally, as it was filled with an energy that defied description.
His gaze settled on what lay at the heart of it all: a great, golden tree, its branches stretching endlessly, weaving through the infinite void like threads of light and life. Around the tree, spectral forms drifted, their shapes fluid and alien, yet eerily serene, reflecting colors and patterns that twisted his sense of perception.
Here, in this space beyond infinity, Merciless vision could finally make sense of what lay before him. It wasn't that he understood it—no, this was still beyond his grasp.
But for the first time, his eyes weren't overwhelmed, and he could take it in, piece by piece, as though the incomprehensible had been compressed just enough for him to witness just because the greater before did not want drive him mad.
Yet even then, he knew: this was a fragment, a sliver of the true enormity of what Almagia held within her.
Truly Merciless could not help but say to himself.
'... So this is a higher-level Authority... Abyss Heaven, right? That's what she called it.'
Merciless thought to himself, awestruck by the impossible sight before him, something that could only be described as a miracle. But he didn't have long to dwell on it; moments later, Almagia's voice cut through his thoughts, snapping him back to the present.
"Come forth, my children... and fulfill your mother's will."
Almagia commanded, her voice resolute, and those of her rule did not disobeyed.
Because so said... so done.
In an instant, ten orbs of light emerged from deep within Almagia. They had no form, no shape, no gender; just pure, radiant specks of white light. Behind them, countless more floated in the vast expanse, billions, possibly trillions, of identical lights, all emanating from the great tree that loomed in the distance within Almagia's body.
The tree seemed to birth them endlessly, an infinite cycle of creation of these weird things within her own self.
Merciless squinted, studying the orbs closely, his sharp gaze attempting to unravel their nature. But despite their radiant presence, there was... nothing.
They weren't weak in the traditional sense, he could see them clearly, yet they gave off no sense of power, no essence, no information at all. It was as though their very existence was a blank slate, something that exist yet everything about it was empty.
Merciless eye Almagia, as he asked.
"I thought you were going to give me some powerful Glyden, but it seems I was mistaken. Just to clarify, what exactly are these things, and how are they supposed to help me with information I seek?"
This question was indeed a valid, one but Merciless was not ready for what he was about to here from Almagia.
"Glydens are one of the two Spawnling races I've created naturally. However, these beings are different they are not Spawnlings. They were born through the power of my Authority, Abyss Heaven. As I mentioned before.... you see Abyss Heaven allows me to create a existence within myself, a heaven completely detached from the logic of external reality, where I reign as the absolute definition of existence within myself."
Her words were simple, but they were very scary, given how powerful she actually was.
"With this Authority, I possess the ability to endlessly transcend my own state of being between existence and non-existence. To put it simply, I can strip anything from reality of its attributes, rendering it nonexistent or attributeless as they will become apart of me in seperated manner once full coverted to light within my being. By doing so, I absorb and reflect those attributes into my heaven, which is itself in a state of pure absence as such I can tolerate things that are full and whole as thing of existence. In this domain, I alone define meaning and existence of the attributes I take into myself."
Her words clear, as she tried to get the message across, and boy did she did.
But that aside she continued.
"These beings are called Absentisia. They are attributeless, which means they cannot be sensed, targeted, attacked, perceived, understood, or interacted with in any way. They exist in a paradoxical state, both empty and capable of holding logic within their emptiness. In simple terms, they can see, hear, attack, and even kill you, but you cannot see, hear, attack, or harm them in return. They are beings of both existence and non-existence simultaneously."
"However, because they were created from my light, I have complete control over them. Now that I'm entrusting them to you, once they cross into your light, they will bond with you as their new ruler."
When Merciless heard this his eyes open with shock as he said.
While looking at this brat wrap in his tail as he had to questioned.
"...Ummm what... no offence, but is this brat really that valuable, to the point your giving me these over the top lifeforms?"
And to his suprise yet again, Almagia responded as such.
"Yes… all my sons are important to me, even if they tend to stray from their purpose. This one, in particular, craves independence, and honestly, he's like a rebellious stray dog. If these young ones hadn't warned me, I feared it might've been too late to save him, and all my hard work would be for nothing."
"It's not that I care deeply for him, though. What I value is the time and effort I put into his creation. He, along with my other sons, holds a unique purpose... they are essential to completing a ritual only they can perform together. That's why I'm offering 10 of the strongest beings crafted from my authority in exchange for this insufferable brat."
Almagia said, to which Merciless replied.
"I see... well I am liking the sound of this trade, already... anything else these beings can do?
Almagia ligh pulse faintly once more, as she replied.
"Of course... they can do plenty... Absentisia are perfect for gathering and concealing information. But their power will always remain beneath yours in terms of attack and defence across the board... That aside though...
"Each of them is alive, despite their nature, because they were born from my Authority. As with all Authority-based creations, logic doesn't fully apply—they simply are... but yeah if you're looking for spies, they're unparalleled."
"Unless something stronger than me with an equal or stronger Authority comes along, these beings will remain undetectable and unseen."
"The only reason you can perceive them now is because they recognize you as their new master. To anyone else, they don't exist in any state, typically no one can fathom something entirely devoid of attributes... not even the world itself."
Again, the potenial of these things were insane, but it was what Almagia said next that completley sold Merciless.
"Additionally, they have the ability to steal attributes and information from the world around them. They can store this data within their being and even take on the traits they've stolen. However, there is a limit: they cannot assume the attributes of something stronger than you. Their very nature binds them to always remain subservient to their master... as such they need to be below the master at all times."
Merciless didn't need any further convincing, he wanted these beings.
Without hesitation, he spoke.
"I like them already."
He admitted with a smile.
"Alright, it's settled... Send them over, and I'll return your son. Just have these things cross into my sphere, and I'll toss him back to you."
"Very well… go to your new master, my children."
Almagia said.
The moment the words left her, the beings of light moved, gliding toward Merciless like moths drawn to a flame. One by one, they crossed into Crimson Dawn, entering Merciless's Subjective Reality.
And the moment they reach, they circle around sun, orbiting around its being.
As soon as the last one entered, Merciless followed through on his end of the deal. With a flick of his tail, he hurled the nameless Spawnling out of his reality. The limp figure spun briefly in the air before being caught by a sudden, radiant gold light.
The Spawnling floated toward Almagia, bathed in her brilliance. His wounds began to mend, flesh knitting together as the light touched him, and the lingering curses etched into his being dissolved completely. Unconscious but no longer broken, he was safely delivered back to his mother... and fully heal instantly."
With that said, the deal between Almagia and Merciless came to end, as Almagia said.
"Oh... and one last thing...
She continued.
"Send my regards to your great Mother... Should you ever seek refuge, simply ask my children. They know where Glyden Village is. We reside at the outskirts of Eregore City...
Almagia inform Merciless, and ended their meeting with.
"Until next time, Lightbringer."
Without warning, Almagia blinked out of existence, vanishing as if she'd teleported away. The brilliant light she had carried faded, leaving the world bathed once again in the cursed, shifting hues of the Formless One's aurora.
Merciless scanned the surroundings, his gaze lingering on the ten Absentisia's orbiting around black sun like smaller moons, content in their new home. Just as he was taking it all in, an Aether portal opened, and from it stepped Anastasia, her face twisted in worry as she rushed forward, panic evident in her voice.
"MASSSSTER ARE YOU ALRIGHT.... WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT THING!?"
Merciless, ever the loving yet aloof asshole, ignored Anastasia's obvious worry. With a casual motion, he pointed to his head and asked.
"Ahhh, Space Girl, good timing... I have quick question to aske you, by chance do you see these things on my head?"
"Huh?"
Anastasia blinked, a little confused by the random question. Her eyes instinctively shifted to the top of his head, and she noticed the Black Sun hovering there. She paused, trying to make sense of it.
"What... your Black Sun? Yeah, what about it?"
Merciless shook his head with a smirk.
"No, not Black Sun... I'm talking about the things orbiting it."
She squinted, looking harder but still saw nothing.
"What are you talking about, Master? There's nothing there but Black Sun."
Merciless pressed on, his voice a little more insistent.
"Even with Aether vision?"
Anastasia looked up at him, puzzled.
"I don't know what you're getting at, but there's nothing there. My Aether vision would've picked it up easily if there was something."
"Are you sure? Sure?"
Merciless asked again, his tone almost teasing.
"Yes, Master, I'm sure! sure!"
She reached out to touch the Black Sun, but her hand passed straight through the flame till she felt a core but the flames did not burn.
"See nothing but a very Black Sun."
Merciless smiled to himself, a glint of satisfaction in his eyes.
"I see... good, very good... Looks like I didn't get ripped off, after all... HAHAHAHAHA... how marvelous."
