Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Still a Princess

Li Feng scrutinized Sofia, sensing from her words that she was a decisive young woman.

After all, selling oneself to hire an assassin to kill an enemy was not a choice a weak girl would make.

As for why she was telling him all this.

It was obviously not just because he was young and handsome, having conquered the heart of a young girl.

Li Feng roughly guessed Sofia’s thoughts; it wasn’t only because he was young and handsome, and not some old man, but also because of his "power."

"The person you want to kill is still alive."

Li Feng looked at Sofia, whose eyes were flickering: "And your enemy is so powerful that even if you gave everything, selling yourself wouldn’t be enough to kill them."

"Moreover, they might even know of your existence."

Sofia’s eyes flashed with panic, looking at Li Feng in disbelief, "How do you know that!"

"Who is it?"

Li Feng repeated, "The person you want to kill."

Sofia bit her lip, her body suddenly losing strength as if she sat down on the Persian carpet.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have thought of using you."

Sofia was nearly in despair.

Li Feng bent down, reached out his finger to lift Sofia’s chin: "You’ve jumped to conclusions too quickly!"

Sofia, with a mournful face, looked up at Li Feng.

"I thought you were just a powerful ’debauchee.’ Sofia thought she’d seduce you to find a way out for herself, and if she could provoke a conflict between you and them, all the better."

"That was destined to be Sofia’s foolish fantasy."

Sofia got up from the carpet, but her soul seemed to have left her as she stood up gracefully.

"If you are still interested in my body, you may help yourself; consider it an apology for my disrespect," Sofia said with a bitter smile.

Li Feng looked at Sofia, whose heart seemed to have turned to ashes.

"You give up that easily, perhaps by telling me your name, I might be swayed by lust to keep you."

Sofia shook her head.

"You wouldn’t, if you were just some debauched rich kid, perhaps. But you’re so wise, you saw right through me. Why would you risk yourself for a strange woman?"

"Even if I am very pretty, to a person like you, beautiful women are as common as the strands of hair on a cow."

Li Feng chuckled.

"Beautiful shells are as common as strands of hair on a cow, but interesting souls are one in ten thousand."

"I just happen to need a secretary. Interested?"

Li Feng made an offer to employ Sofia, as he happened to need someone useful by his side. Now that he had emerged, he naturally couldn’t remain unnoticed.

"Ah!"

Sofia looked at Li Feng in astonishment: "You really want to use me? I could bring you endless trouble."

"You weren’t so hesitant when you were scheming against me just now!"

Sofia’s face suddenly turned red.

Li Feng looked at the blushing Sofia, beckoned with his finger, and Sofia, her cheeks red, knelt on the carpet and crawled between Li Feng’s legs.

"Master."

"Now, can you tell me your name?"

"Joseph."

Li Feng frowned slightly; after all, foreigners’ names were so numerous, just as many people in Yan Country were called Xiao Ming.

"Joseph Bonaparte," Sofia repeated, this time including the last name.

"Oh."

Li Feng made a disdainful snort as Sofia looked up at Li Feng’s expression.

"Master, that Joseph is in Sea City."

"You’re not going to tell me he’s going to show up here too, are you?"

Sofia nodded slightly.

"For you?"

Sofia nodded again, and Li Feng curiously looked at Sofia.

"Though the strength of Gaul’s chicken is average now, this family has produced an Emperor and is doing fairly well in its own country. They wouldn’t come here for a beauty without a good reason. Either it’s true love or..."

Sofia felt like there were no secrets in front of this man.

"My name is Sofia Bonaparte."

Li Feng blinked.

"I didn’t expect you to be a princess."

Sofia smiled bitterly, "What princess? I merely possess the bloodline of that family."

"Heh, looks like my 30 million Federation Coins were well spent."

Sofia looked up at Li Feng, "Master, aren’t you going to ask why?"

"I’m not interested, though I can roughly guess. A family fighting over love and hate, it’s usually about succession rights."

Sofia was speechless because he guessed it right.

"Did you find her?"

"Somebody saw her with a man at the auction house."

"Hmph, this little wench is really good at hiding. But does she think I can’t find her in another country?"

At seven in the evening, the lights dimmed on the four-sided platform of the underground auction house, and a beam of light shone down, highlighting a gorgeous woman.

"Welcome, everyone, to tonight’s auction. Our auction house has carefully prepared 99 lots for you, which I believe everyone has already previewed."

"Now, please welcome our auctioneer, as well as the first lot."

"It’s just a tripod, though ancient, it’s well preserved, and the starting bid is 50 million."

Bids were quickly called out; the goods at the underground auction house were of course genuine, though their provenance varied widely.

In the underground market, even Tomb Raiders held significant power, and half of the auction goods were supplied by these Tomb Raiders.

Li Feng wasn’t interested in things from tombs, just there to see the excitement, watching one valuable item after another being brought out and quickly sold off. He estimated the turnover for this auction might reach twenty or thirty billion.

"The next lot to be auctioned is the master painter Wu Daozi’s everlasting masterpiece, the Eighty-seven Immortals scroll, with a starting bid of one billion Federation Coins."

"Mm."

Li Feng shifted his body, and Sofia rolled her eyes.

"I bid one billion and two hundred million."

"I bid one billion and three hundred million."

Obviously, the master painter’s artwork was in high demand.

"One billion and five hundred million."

"Two billion."

A voice raised the bid by fifty million directly; these were 50 million Federation Coins, and it immediately silenced the others, evidently determined to win.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am Xiao Yu. I must have this Eighty-seven Immortals scroll, I hope you can grant me this favor."

A flamboyant and arrogant voice echoed in the hall.

Undoubtedly, such open declarations of bidding meant that unless faces were torn, most people would no longer compete, and that was indeed the case.

The auctioneer began the countdown.

"Two billion for the first time."

"Two billion for the second time."

"One billion, it’s mine."

The auctioneer had raised the gavel when a lazy voice came forth.

"Master, you’re really wicked."

Sofia looked at Li Feng with playful reproach, stirring something within him once again.
