Chapter 93: Chapter 93 Inviting Humiliation
"Can you handle this matter?"
Wang Jue squinted his eyes at his subordinate.
"Boss, I think we can hire a professional for this. It might cost some money, though."
"If money can solve the problem, then it isn’t a problem. Can you find someone?"
"Um, I have a friend who’s close to the boss of the Sky Wolf Association. I’ll talk to him; as long as the money’s right, it shouldn’t be an issue."
"Good, I’ll be waiting for your good news."
Early in the morning.
Li Feng left the hotel with his daughter and asked the driver to drop them off outside the Cloud Gate complex. The security guard immediately stopped them.
Li Feng rolled down the window, and the security guard recognized him at once.
"Brother Li?"
Li Feng grunted in affirmation: "Sorry for the trouble, I need to go into the complex."
"Heh, isn’t that what we’re here for? Go ahead." The guard turned to his colleague and had him lift the barrier for the complex.
"Whose car is that, such a luxury car!"
"Do you know who’s sitting inside?"
"Don’t keep me in suspense, who is it?"
"Daddy Li."
"Brother Li, haven’t seen him around for a while. Heard he got kicked out by that family’s mistress, right? The duty brothers told me that woman’s been bringing other men home recently. Poor Brother Li’s got a whole grassland on his head."
"Ah, Brother Li is a good man. What a pity, good guys don’t get rewarded nowadays."
"Daddy, Bao’er wants to be with you."
"Bao’er, Daddy will come to see you often, okay?"
"But, but I want Daddy. Why doesn’t Daddy live with us anymore?"
Li Feng looked into his daughter’s bright eyes: "Daddy has to work to make money, so I can buy Bao’er lots of tasty food and pretty clothes."
"Mr. Feng, we’re here."
Bai He stopped the car, walked to the back door, and opened it. Li Feng got out with Bao’er in his arms and looked at the familiar villa. He approached the main gate and pressed the doorbell.
"Who is it?"
"Is Zhang Xue home?"
"My sister’s not in. What do you want?"
Li Feng eyed the nanny through the video call, his brows furrowing: "Tell Zhang Xue that I’ve brought her daughter back and ask her to come out and take the child."
The nanny, seeing Bao’er in Li Feng’s arms, hung up the call and rushed through the door into the yard to the gate: "Who are you, holding our Bao’er?"
"Where’s Zhang Xue?"
"Didn’t I tell you, my sister’s not here. Can’t you understand human speech? Give me the child. What are you, Bao’er, come to your auntie."
"No, I want Daddy, I don’t want Auntie!" Bao’er turned and buried herself in Li Feng’s chest.
"Hmm?"
The nanny looked up at Li Feng: "Are you my sister’s ex? That worthless former brother-in-law?"
The nanny looked Li Feng up and down arrogantly, her gaze filled with contempt: "He may look the part, but hand over Bao’er quickly, or I’ll call the police. You’ve been kicked out, don’t you understand? And you dare take Bao’er away. Are you trying to threaten someone?"
"Ah, no!"
Bao’er wailed loudly, and Li Feng extended his arm, pushing aside the nanny who had come forward to take Bao’er away. Caught off guard, the nanny twisted her ankle and landed squarely on her behind. Her face immediately flushed with anger, feeling she had lost face.
"You dare to push me? Give me Bao’er, do you hear me? You’re nothing but a dog my sister keeps, and now that you’ve been kicked out, you can’t make it on your own and want to come back? Let me tell you, no way."
"My sister already told me about you, someone as useless as you makes her sick just looking at you, huh. Besides, Bao’er isn’t even your biological child, how could you have the face to let Bao’er call you daddy? Where is your shame?"
"Are you done?"
Li Feng looked coldly at the other party. The other, full of arrogant pride, huffed with an air of superiority, "Why are you glaring? You want to hit me? Try touching me."
Before the words were even out of their mouth, Li Feng slapped them across the face.
Smack.
The nanny fell flat on the ground, her eyes looking up at Li Feng full of resentment. "You dare hit me? I’ll fight you."
Li Feng didn’t wait for the other party to get up, kicking them with his foot. The nanny fell back sprawling on the ground. Li Feng didn’t even care to look, as the other party was called Sister Zhang Xue, obviously some relative of the Zhang Family.
Li Feng carried Bao’er straight to the car. Bai He spat in disgust and glanced at the nanny who had fallen to the ground before getting into the car. This Zhang Family really didn’t know whether they were alive or dead. Bai He was not very clear about the past, but today, he saw it all for himself.
This Zhang Family thought a great deity was a clay idol, unable to recognize greatness even when it stood before them.
Li Feng got into the car, comforting Bao’er, and picked up his phone to call Zhang Xue. The phone was turned off.
"Mr. Li, where to?"
"Back to the hotel first." Li Feng’s brows furrowed. The nanny was probably not lying. Zhang Xue was not at the villa, so where had she gone?
Outer Heaven.
Li Feng, holding Bao’er, got out of the car and entered the hotel, only to run straight into Wang Jin’er in the lobby. Li Feng looked at Wang Jin’er, who was blocking his path. Wang Jin’er’s gaze swept over Li Feng’s daughter in his arms and then, after a moment, lifted her eyes to meet his.
"Li Feng, have you had enough of this nonsense?"
Wang Jin’er interrogated Li Feng with a cold expression. Li Feng looked at Wang Jin’er, "Nonsense?"
"Isn’t it? You know why our families want a marriage alliance. If you really want to refuse, fine. Then go straight to Uncle Li and tell him clearly. What are you doing right now?"
"Don’t you think you’re being childish? You think you’re still a teenager in rebellion? You’re really hopeless."
Wang Jin’er delivered her words like a machine gun and went straight to the point, "You just want to refuse the marriage, right? I’ll give you a chance. Tomorrow is New Year’s Day, and there will be a family gathering at my place. If you’re so against marrying into the Wang Family, then come and make your stance clear."
After speaking, Wang Jin’er stuffed an invitation into Li Feng’s hand and, with a toss of her head, walked past him and left the hotel.
Li Feng looked on with a baffled expression. He watched Wang Jin’er leave the hotel and didn’t chase after her, instead carrying Bao’er upstairs.
"Taxi!"
Wang Jin’er called out as she stepped out of the hotel.
Li Feng, soothing his daughter, picked up the invitation Wang Jin’er had stuffed into his hand—a family New Year’s Eve party. Li Feng’s brow furrowed; he obviously couldn’t avoid this event.
"Mr. Li."
Bai He knocked on the door and entered the room.
"Is there something wrong?"
Li Feng tossed the invitation aside and looked up at Bai He. Bai He looked back at Li Feng, "Mr. Li, someone left a package at the reception downstairs."
Li Feng responded with a grunt, took the courier box from Bai He, and used a fruit knife on the table to open it. Inside, a letter fell out.
Li Feng opened the letter, his brow instantly furrowed.
"Do you know who sent this?"
"Is there a problem?" Bai He was startled, Li Feng simply threw the letter to Bai He, and Bai He picked it up and scanned it.
"Kidnapping?"
Bai He was momentarily stunned. Who was this, daring to send a kidnapping ransom letter to Mr. Li’s head?
