Chapter 772: Chapter 772: The Orthodox Seven Families and Five Surnames
"Heh!"
"Elusive as ever, aren’t you, young master Lv? What’s the matter, has young master Lv’s backbone stiffened again?"
Li Feng looked at the young man who had just spoken across from him, none other than Lv Qinghou, who, alongside Zhang Chang, was one of the Four Young Masters of Jin City. Back in Jin City, Li Feng had developed quite a grudge against the man.
To win over Jiang Nan, the man had stooped to using drugs, a wholly despicable act, and Li Feng had sent him straight to the hospital. The Lv Family’s backing was substantial; even Li Feng’s own father had demanded he go and apologize to the Lv Family.
But, Li Feng didn’t give a damn about the Lv Family.
His adversary had fallen silent, scheming who knew what. Before leaving Jin City, Li Feng had left An Xi behind precisely to keep an eye on certain people there.
Yet what Li Feng hadn’t expected was that Lv Qinghou would dare to show his face before him, and just like the last time in Jin City, he opened his mouth wide enough to demand a third of Century Group.
The reason it was only a third, and not the whole, was not because he feared Li Feng, but because there were too many families and powers eyeing Century Group, and the Lv Family couldn’t swallow it whole.
Upon hearing Li Feng’s words, Lv Qinghou’s face turned cold. Reduced to a human ball by Li Feng’s bone-setting skills, Lv Qinghou had endured a great deal of agony. To make matters worse, it turned out Jin City’s leading orthopedic doctor was Li Feng’s junior nephew.
In the end, Lv Qinghou had no choice but to go to the Northern Federation, where some ancient medical practices still survived, and even now thinking about the bone-setting treatment sent chills down his spine.
Deep down, Lv Qinghou wished he could flay Li Feng alive and scatter his ashes to the winds.
"Cut the nonsense, Li Feng. I’m not here to negotiate with you. Give up a third of Century Group, and I might spare the Jiang Family. As for our personal vendetta, I’ll take my time playing it out with you," sneered Lv Qinghou, his gaze at Li Feng cold and dismissive.
Li Feng saw through Lv Qinghou’s bravado, lifted his hand, and Lv Qinghou reflexively dodged backward, causing Li Feng to show a hint of contempt.
"Heh!"
"Lv Qinghou, who gave you the courage to talk to me like this? I have never bowed even before your father, so what makes you think I would bow before you?"
"To put it bluntly, if you weren’t a ’Lv,’ what would you be?"
Li Feng didn’t consider the scion of a noble family like Lv Qinghou worth his attention—even if his father, Lv Yaohua, held a high position of power and was someone the Li Family sought to woo rather than oppose.
Lv Qinghou, pallid with rage, looked at Li Feng, wanting to explode but cowed by Li Feng’s dominance. Just then, a round of applause echoed in the private room, drawing everyone’s gaze.
A young man on the sofa, wearing a branded suit, sparkling with a watch on his wrist, stood up clapping. Li Feng, upon entering the room, had noticed this young man, whom he did not recognize sitting on the sofa.
Back in Jin City, when Lv Qinghou had made his outrageous demand only to be hospitalized by Li Feng, it was unlikely he wouldn’t remember that lesson—once bitten, twice shy.
Moreover, with Zhang Chang and Lv Qinghou both being among the Four Young Masters of Jin City, there was no reason for Zhang Chang to fear Lv Qinghou, which suggested his calling him over meant something more.
Given Zhang Chang’s respect for the man’s status and Lv Qinghou’s boldness in making his demand again, it was clear that this unknown third person was the key player.
"If he weren’t a ’Lv,’ he truly would be nothing."
The newcomer agreed with Li Feng’s words, causing Lv Qinghou’s face to change again, but he dared not react.
"But what right do you have to scorn him? If you weren’t a ’Li,’ what would you be?"
The approaching figure was even more insolent, his gaze and demeanor exuding a kingly disdain, a naturally arising sense of superiority that was unbearable to face directly.
"Besides, you, a son of the Li Family, are mere illegitimate offspring. Do you know what they call bastards?"
"Wild breed."
"You, such a wild breed, who gave you the audacity to be arrogant to others."
"Zhang Chang, who is this idiot!"
Li Feng looked up at the high-and-mighty young master, chuckled lightly, and turned to ask Zhang Chang, who inhaled deeply at the tense atmosphere.
"He is Cui Boyu."
"He comes from the genuine Cui Family of Qi Jia Zhengzong in Qinghe, the legitimate second son."
Zhang Chang whispered to Li Feng, "Qi Jia Zhengzong, those are families of a millennium’s heritage."
"Li Feng, you were born into the Li Family, though just a wild breed of it, but someone should have told you what Qi Jia Zhengzong means!"
"If you don’t know, let me enlighten you, the genuine five surnames of Qi Jia, are Cui, Li, Lu, Zheng, Wang. My cousin here comes from the main branch of the legitimate line of the Qinghe Cui Family, while your branch of the Li Family in Jin City is merely a collateral line of the Zhaojun Li Family, and you’re an illegitimate child even within that branch."
Lv Qinghou was relentless in his sarcasm, as if only by such means could he feel inwardly satisfied.
"Oh, five surnames and seven prestigious families, millennia-old clans, I didn’t expect people still play with this bloodline supremacy stuff these days."
Listening to Lv Qinghou’s arrogant rationale, Li Feng let out a mocking smile and looked up at Cui Boyu opposite him.
"Is this sense of superiority because you bear the Cui surname, or because you come from the main branch of the Cui Family? If that’s all you have, what gives you the right to yap at me!"
Li Feng scornfully retorted, and Cui Boyu, not expecting Li Feng to dare speak so irreverently, glared at him icily.
"A wild breed is a wild breed. Your arrogance can’t possibly be from an inferiority complex in your bones, right? No wonder, being born is an art in itself."
"Hardly making it into the Li Family only to become a wild breed, grapes are sour when you can’t eat them. I heard that you’re not even listed in the Li Family’s genealogy, tsk."
Cui Boyu looked at Li Feng with a mixture of sarcasm and irony.
Li Feng, however, ignored him, as if he was a complete fool, really thinking that his surname Cui gave him the right to be arrogant.
What Qi Jia, five surnames but genuine origins.
"Zhang Chang, let’s go. We’ll have a drink outside. I just so happen to have something to discuss with you. As for this fool, you better stay away from them in the future, it’s beneath you."
Hearing this, Cui Boyu watched as Li Feng turned to leave, which clearly meant Li Feng didn’t regard him at all.
"Li Feng, you stop right there."
"I command you to stop."
Li Feng couldn’t be bothered with this idiot, while Cui Boyu’s expression turned so dark it seemed to drip.
"Lv Qinghou, you’re engaged to that girl from the Jiang Family called Jiang Nan, aren’t you?"
Cui Boyu suddenly brought up the Jiang Family.
Li Feng stopped in his tracks, and Zhang Chang instantly started sweating profusely, knowing well from the last incident involving Jiang Liu, Li Feng’s sister, that Li Feng and the Lv Family were greatly displeased with each other, and Li Feng’s relationship with Jiang Nan was obviously out of the ordinary.
Mentioning Jiang Nan was hitting Li Feng’s sore spot, the reverse scale, and having seen Li Feng’s temper, someone who never regarded even the young masters of Jin City’s top ten families, Cui Boyu might have miscalculated if he thought he could press people with his family background.
