Chapter 763: Chapter 763: One Condition
Li Feng looked at Wang Tiandao, whose tone had suddenly turned. "Father-in-law, please speak."
Wang Tiandao let out a cold chuckle.
"You leave me speechless."
Li Feng’s gaze fixed on Wang Tiandao, this condition... Wang Tiandao suddenly stood up, his piercing eyes sweeping over Li Feng, "Whenever you manage to do it, you can marry my daughter; if you can’t, then don’t blame me for not giving you a chance!"
"Old Wang, show the guest out."
Wang Tiandao issued a direct order to remove the guest to Li Feng, then turned and left the reception hall without looking back, and the Wang Family butler appeared at the doorway without hurrying anyone along.
"Heh."
Li Feng barely smiled as he stood up and walked straight out of the hall. Leaving the other party speechless? That could be both difficult and easy.
Difficult because if Wang Tiandao stubbornly refused to agree, anything Li Feng did would be futile, given the power firmly in his would-be father-in-law’s hands. Were he to truly refuse outright, Li Feng would indeed have no recourse.
Easy as well, for if his strength were to completely dominate the Wang Family, naturally they would have nothing to say.
"Has the person left?"
Wang Tiandao sensed the butler entering the study and spoke without lifting his head.
"Yes, the son-in-law has left."
Wang Tiandao furrowed his brow, looking at the butler, "He is not my Wang Family’s son-in-law; he hasn’t earned that title yet."
"Yes, Family Head."
The old butler offered no further explanation. Wang Tiandao’s mood had already soured, tossing the writing brush to one side; after all, the events of the day had given him quite a shock – that youngster had managed to accomplish a significant feat without anyone noticing.
"Old Wang, do you think this scoundrel from the Li Family is worthy of my daughter?"
The old butler looked at Wang Tiandao, "In terms of background, certainly not. But if we consider talent and tactics, then he would be a fine choice for a son-in-law, at least better than the various young masters in the inner courtyard."
"Yes, although this youngster comes from the Li Family, he is merely an illegitimate son, how can he be suitable for my direct daughter? To allow him to enter our home through marriage is already the greatest concession I could make. Yet this scoundrel dares to covet more, utterly ignorant of his place."
"Now he even dares to think of marrying my daughter. He doesn’t consider, with his status, where he gets the qualifications to claim my daughter. Not to mention my thoughts, who in the Wang Family would agree?"
Although Wang Tiandao was the Wang Family Head, it didn’t mean he could disregard the opinions of others in the family, especially with his mother still around.
He had only one daughter, Wang Jin’er, and he wished to hand over the entire Wang Family business to her. If Wang Jin’er were to marry out, it would be like handing over the business to others – could he surrender the Wang’s foundation that the senior line had built up over many years so easily?
He couldn’t come to terms with it.
Naturally, the old butler understood what Wang Tiandao was thinking. The master still wanted the young miss to inherit the family business, so he was set on finding a son-in-law from within. Li Feng had been selected after much consideration by the master.
For one thing, it happened to be an opportune time as the Li Family was in its ascending phase, and although he was a Li Family illegitimate son, he still possessed the Li bloodline, carrying the legacy of a family as distinguished as the Wang Family.
Secondly, over the last two years as Li Feng joined the Zhang Family, he had proven himself a remarkable parent, which led the Family Head to concede to a compromise; after all, a son-in-law joining the family need not be exceptionally accomplished.
But the best-laid plans often go awry. Who could have foreseen that what they thought to be a fairly unremarkable man suitable for marriage would turn out to be a ’Hidden Dragon’?
"Keep a close watch on that scoundrel’s movements, and also, don’t stop the matchmaking," Wang Tiandao decided after weighing his options, unable to immediately conclude due to the surprise Li Feng had given him.
Li Feng left the Wang Family, only to encounter Dong Xing who had been waiting for him outside the Wang Family gates; Li Feng knew he was waiting and pulled over his car.
"Get in."
Dong Xing opened the rear door and got into the car. Li Feng ignored Dong Xing’s presence and drove straight to Myth Communication.
As for Century Group, Li Feng had not set foot there since becoming the chairman.
Chu Shiyu saw Li Feng at the front desk, "President, you’re here."
"Mm, call Su Yuqing and tell her to come see me."
"Okay."
Chu Shiyu looked at Li Feng, and at Dong Xing who was following behind him, and picked up the phone to call Su Yuqing.
"Alright, I got it."
Jiang Linda glanced up at Su Yuqing, who had put down the phone and stood up, saying, "Our CEO has arrived, he’s asked me to come over."
"Do you want to come with me?"
Su Yuqing asked. Her current position was as the CEO’s secretary, while Jiang Linda was the CEO’s assistant. Though these positions seemed like errands, at the unique Myth Communication, they were the ones managing the entire company.
Jiang Linda had been closely watching the stock market situation and various online news. Upon hearing Su Yuqing’s words, she shook her head, "You go ahead, just seeing him gives me a headache."
Su Yuqing smirked. Although the CEO didn’t micromanage and had handed over significant authority to the two of them, neither of them felt relaxed or valued. This CEO always caused trouble, the kind that would break the sky each time.
"Then I’ll go and take a look."
Jiang Linda hummed a response, and Su Yuqing went to the CEO’s office, knocked twice on the door, then pushed it open and entered, "CEO, you wanted to see me?"
Su Yuqing glanced at Li Feng and also scanned over Dong Xing.
"Secretary Su, I want you to draft a share transfer agreement."
"A share transfer agreement?"
"Yes, a share transfer agreement for the transfer of thirty-seven percent of Century Group’s equity."
Su Yuqing looked at Li Feng in astonishment, and Li Feng nodded, "Is there a problem?"
"No."
Without saying more in front of a guest, Su Yuqing left the office with a belly full of doubts, "Linda, there’s big trouble."
"What happened?"
"Do you know what our CEO asked me to do?"
Jiang Linda looked at Su Yuqing, "What?"
"He asked me to draft a share transfer contract." Su Yuqing revealed the answer, "You’ve been watching the stock market closely, it’s obvious that someone is maliciously acquiring shares and continuously raising the price. I saw someone in the office who might just be the acquirer."
Jiang Linda exhaled deeply, "Maybe it’s for the best to sell it. Our boss doesn’t look anything like a Chairman, he can’t even manage our company worth less than a billion, let alone a conglomerate worth trillions."
"Prepare the contract."
Su Yuqing nodded in agreement. What Jiang Linda said was true. How big a role one can fill depends on one’s capabilities. Having their boss as the Chairman of Century Group was utterly unreliable.
Perhaps this was for the best.
Su Yuqing got straight to work on the share transfer agreement, then turned and returned to the CEO’s office.
"CEO, I’ve prepared the draft contract for your review."
Li Feng took the contract, scanned it briefly, "The party A should be me, and party B should be him. Besides, I am acquiring his shares, not selling mine. Get that straight."
"Dong Xing, go work on this contract with my secretary here, and also call your lawyer. Once it’s ready, bring it over for my signature," Li Feng said, tossing the contract back to Su Yuqing.
"Ah!"
"Is there a problem?"
Su Yuqing stood with her mouth agape, not selling shares but acquiring them—was this some kind of mistake? She felt a bit dizzy.
Dong Xing took a deep breath; it was a transaction worth hundreds of billions. Did it really have to be this hasty?
