Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Treating You to a 1982 Red Wine
Yang Lin didn’t waste words with the waiter and made his way straight to Li Feng’s table.
"Sir, you can’t just barge in."
The waiter was taken aback and followed Yang Lin, trying to stop him, but was a step too slow. Yang Lin reached Li Feng’s table, knocked on it directly, then looked down at Li Feng with a patronizing gaze.
"Little security guard, we meet again."
"What, you again?"
Hu Jing lifted her head to see the uninvited guest Yang Lin, then glanced at Tong Qian, the class belle who had followed, thinking it was truly a small world, full of unpleasant encounters.
Tong Qian caught a glimpse of Li Feng and Hu Jing enjoying their meal, and walked forward to grab Yang Lin’s arm. "Yang Lin, I don’t want to eat Western food anymore, can we go somewhere else?"
"No, we’re eating Western food today."
Yang Lin held onto Tong Qian, squinting at Li Feng who was seated, and spoke disdainfully, "Excuse me, make some room. My goddess and I want to eat here. I’ll cover your bill for you, after all, this is the Second Star Mido restaurant. The cheapest set meal costs thousands, that’s like a month of your salary."
Yang Lin’s tone was that of someone bestowing charity, and sitting opposite Li Feng, Hu Jing sneered internally.
If this had been before, she would have found it difficult to retort, since Mido Second Star restaurant was indeed not affordable for their salaried class, splurging on this meal would not be considered too much.
She might have thought that Li Feng was just trying to put on airs or even harbor ill intents towards her. However, knowing now that Li Feng was the silent major shareholder of the restaurant, Hu Jing’s thoughts changed, it wasn’t just a meal. If he wished, he could afford to eat like this every day without a problem.
Moreover, with Li Feng being so wealthy and yet so modest, not flaunting his wealth at all, unlike Yang Lin, who was just the third young master of the Chang Kong Group. Yes, his family had money, but that did not mean he did. He was just a fox exploiting the tiger’s might. Compared to Li Feng, Yang Lin was worlds apart.
Hu Jing just looked at Yang Lin’s pretentious demeanor, as if he thought his father was the best in the world, without comparison there is no harm.
Li Feng looked up at Yang Lin and then turned to Hu Jing, "Have you eaten enough?"
Hu Jing nodded, her crescent eyes squinting as she displayed a contented look on her face, "I couldn’t be more full."
Hu Jing really was full. She alone had polished off four portions of the legendary 5A Wagyu beefsteak, along with plenty of side dishes, she truly felt blissfully stuffed. She was genuinely too full to eat any more, otherwise, she would have loved to continue.
"Then let’s give up the table."
Li Feng stood up, nodded slightly towards Tong Qian, and left the table with Hu Jing.
Yang Lin watched as Li Feng and Hu Jing walked away and scoffed, "At least you’ve got some sense."
"Waiter, clear this table quickly."
Several waiters approached to tidy up the table. Yang Lin pulled out a chair, "Goddess, please be seated."
"Waiter, I’d like to order."
Yang Lin snapped his fingers loudly and Tong Qian felt uncomfortable, yet she sat at the table, enduring it, as she didn’t dare to fall out with Yang Lin.
After a short while.
The waiter began serving and brought out a bottle of red wine, "Sir, this bottle is from the ’82 vintage from our vineyard, would you like to open it?"
Yang Lin looked at the waiter, frowning, "The wine I ordered was from ’87, I believe? And isn’t ’82 pretty common now? We’ve been drinking it for thirty years, are there even any real bottles left?"
The ’82 vintage was good and sufficiently old, but since red wine became famous in Yan Country, the ’82 vintage appeared at too many events. It’s said that Yan Country’s yearly consumption of ’82 wine has long exceeded the production from the ’82 vineyards by tenfold.
The ’82 vintage could fool those nouveau riche who don’t know any better, but he was the third young master of the Chang Kong Group. Tricking him?
The waiter didn’t take offense and explained, "Sir, this bottle comes with a certification from the International Vineyards Association, and you may take the bottle itself as well. If it’s counterfeit, there’s a tenfold compensation. This bottle is part of our owner’s private collection. Knowing that you are from the Chang Kong Group, he instructed us to bring it out. If you dislike it, I can change it for you right away."
"Oh?"
Yang Lin, hearing this, couldn’t help but take the red wine from the waiter’s hand, examining it closely: "It really is a ’82 vintage."
"Then thank my boss for me, let’s open this bottle."
Yang Lin also felt exceedingly honored, his face beamed with pride as he looked at Tong Qian across from him, not having expected that his own esteemed name would carry so much weight in Huacheng.
"Very well, sir."
"Goddess, try this ’82 wine, truly fitting of the title ’King of Wines’, the taste is indeed smooth and leaves a lingering sweetness..."
Tong Qian nodded her head, and while feeling a bit nauseated inside, she couldn’t deny that Yang Lin had lucked out with his birth, as the third young master of Chang Kong Group, just flashing his identity was always bound to be advantageous. Mixing through the entertainment industry’s dyeing vat, if not for Yang Lin’s pursuit, she would have long been unable to persist. She would either have left this circle or have had to trade in the industry’s hidden rules for resources.
As for Li Feng.
Tong Qian sighed in her heart. After all, she was no longer that girl from the ivory tower, no longer pursuing that innocent love. Reality always prompts growth, even if she didn’t like it that way.
Satiated with food and drink.
Yang Lin directly called over the waiter to pay: "How much in total?"
"Good evening, sir. Your total consumption is one million eighty-seven thousand yuan."
Yang Lin’s gesture of taking out his card paused: "Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake with the bill?" He had been to the Mido Second Star restaurant before, and no matter how expensive, the dining bill should only be tens or at most hundreds of thousands. He could afford that, but over a million was a bit excessive.
"Sir, the ’82 vintage wine has been appraised by the auction house, and the starting price set at one million."
Yang Lin’s face went cold, almost choking on his own saliva. Are you trying to scam me? The most expensive ’82 vintage wine on the market is at most one hundred thousand per bottle. You dare to charge one million? Besides, what the hell is with the auction house? Everyone knows once things get to the auction house, prices shoot sky-high.
"Swipe the card!"
Yang Lin was infuriated inside, but with Tong Qian sitting across from him, he naturally couldn’t show weakness. He found it expensive, but he would settle the score after the fact. Dare to scam me.
"Um, sir, your table has already been paid for."
The waiter’s words extinguished Yang Lin’s rising fury in an instant. Yang Lin turned his head towards the waiter who was returning his card.
"Was it your boss who paid?"
The waiter nodded.
This guy really knows how to play his cards right, Yang Lin mused, looking at the waiter: "Where is your boss? Since he has invited me to dine, I should at least thank him in person."
Yang Lin was no fool, whatever the truth about the ’82 vintage wine was, the meal was expensive, and clearly motivated by an ulterior agenda.
"Our boss has already left."
"Oh? Didn’t he leave any message or contact information?"
Yang Lin was surprised, wondering if he had misunderstood something.
The waiter blinked at Yang Lin: "Aren’t you acquainted with our boss?"
"Acquainted?"
Yang Lin was utterly confused.
"Yes, the person who was just sitting in your seat dining was our boss," the waiter’s eyes met Yang Lin’s.
Tong Qian, sitting across, listening to the conversation: "Waiter, are you saying the person who just left was the owner of this place?"
