Chapter 719: Chapter 719: The True Circle

Now that the gloves were off, Dong Xing didn’t hesitate to talk tough. It was true that people like Zhang Chang had complicated backgrounds, but this was Sea City.

Even a mighty dragon couldn’t suppress a local snake.

If they really wanted to play, they wouldn’t dare ignore those who came out of the Jin City Circle. Century Group was Sea City’s own, and even if it were to fail, it would fail within its own pot. A group from the Jin City Circle coming over to Sea City and reaching out haphazardly touched on more than just Dong Xing’s interests.

Just a word from him and in minutes he could gain the support of Sea City’s elite—he wasn’t afraid.

"Mr. Ma, if you want a piece of the pie, then stay out of this matter," Dong Xing said, not one for sharing by nature, "but just because someone thinks they’ve gained a little power, they act like they’re above everyone else. This is an attitude that can’t last."

"The Century Group is up for sale, but it’s not up to just anybody to decide."

Dong Xing’s remarks made the others from the Jin City Circle glance at each other, then they just hung back, seeing as they weren’t familiar with Li Feng, nor did they have much of an affinity for him.

Moreover, Zhang Chang Jing Ran siding with Li Feng was also something they looked down upon in their hearts. What qualifications did Li Feng have to stand with them?

Zhang Chang’s face turned somewhat ugly. These bastards really were unreliable, but Zhang Chang also knew the calculations of these people. No matter who won on either side, they could get a slice of the cake, so why bother getting involved? It was better to stand aside and watch the fight.

Li Feng placed his hand on Zhang Chang’s shoulder.

"Why waste your breath on them? Sea City isn’t theirs to command."

When Dong Xing heard Li Feng say this, he scoffed contemptuously, "Li Feng, you’re someone who clawed your way up without any background—I’ll forgive your ignorance. I’ll show you who really calls the shots in Sea City."

"Don’t think too highly of yourself. In fact, you’re nothing."

"Tang Rong, you’d better think carefully about where you stand."

Dong Xing turned his head to look at Tang Rong, who sighed and said, "Since when did I have to ask for your permission to make friends, Dong Xing?"

"Aren’t you taking yourself a bit too seriously?"

When Dong Xing heard Tang Rong’s retort, his eyes widened with anger, but there wasn’t much he could do to Tang Rong.

"Heh, suit yourself."

With a sudden sneer, Dong Xing stopped talking. He thought Tang Rong had considered himself above others just because he had been named one of Sea City’s Top Ten Outstanding Young People. Without his family’s background and connections, he wouldn’t amount to anything.

He really saw himself as a business genius.

This was fine, though. By standing with Li Feng, that just meant declaring war on the entire Sea City Circle. This time, he was curious to see how this fellow would fall on his face, just to stop him from being so self-righteous.

The club’s glass doors opened automatically.

"Ha, Li Feng, out to welcome us, are you?"

Li Feng looked up at the club’s entrance to see Ye Fan and Zhu Jun walking in.

"Ha, I was just about to call you to change locations, but you two arrived quite early."

Li Feng had staggered the meeting time and had chosen the same location, not expecting Ye Fan and Zhu Jun to arrive so soon.

"Jun Brother, Fan Brother."

Zhang Chang glanced up at Zhu Jun and Ye Fan, his face showing surprise. Though Zhang Chang was one of Jin City’s Four Young Masters, he knew he was a notch below these two.

The Jin City Circle was also divided into broad and narrow definitions. The broad Jin City Circle included everyone who qualified to mix in this circle, whether from the political or business realms—anyone in Jin City was part of the Jin City Circle.

Zhang Chang was a prominent figure within this broader Jin City Circle, one of the Jin City Four Young Masters, and among the most influential in this circle.

But Zhang Chang knew that they were always looked down upon in the face of the true Jin City Circle, whose narrow definition composed of the descendants of the nation’s founders and children of the major courtyards.

This Jin City Circle was not something you could enter simply by being rich and influential; outsiders were excluded from consideration, with bloodline being the only criterion.

This circle, formed by descendants of the meritorious, relied on bloodline, with the top ten families being the cream of the crop. Zhu Jun and Ye Fan were descendants of the top ten generals and prominent figures within this circle.

In front of these two, Zhang Chang was nothing more than a younger brother.

Crack.

This Li Feng really had clout. He had made the Marriott Club in Jin City turn upside down, and by doing so slapped the face of the Jin City Circle, especially Ye Haolong, whom Zhang Chang had personally seen being humiliated by Li Feng.

Now, Ye Haolong’s elder brother, the well-known Ye Fan from within the Jin City Circle was acting like a friend of Li Feng’s.

Impressive.

But then again, Zhang Chang thought it made sense. Li Feng dared to step on the Marriott Club, which was a show of strength—naturally garnering recognition. Some would hold a grudge, but others would befriend him, for Li Feng had earned that right.

"Oh, young Zhang Family, you’re here too."

At that moment, Ye Fan sensed that the atmosphere was off. This scene didn’t look like one where the host was happily seeing guests to the door, especially since Li Feng had just mentioned changing venues—it seemed like negotiations had broken down.

"Um, I came to Sea City specifically for Li Feng this time. We hit it off," Zhang Chang hastily replied.

"What’s going on here?"

Ye Fan glanced at Dong Xing and the others, while inside the lobby, a few Jin City Circle scions all stared with their eyes wide open, mentally cursing.

"Jun Brother, Fan Brother."

They might disregard Li Feng, but they dared not snub these two true Jin City Circle leaders. They could give Zhang Chang the cold shoulder, as they were not much different from him, but by the same token, they were a rung below Zhu Jun and Ye Fan.

These two were top-tier in the Jin City Circle.

Ignoring the rest, Zhang Chang recounted everything that had happened, and naturally, he didn’t miss repeating what Dong Xing and the others had said. Even without embellishment, it was enough to cause a stir.

Ye Fan just said "Oh," and then stepped past Li Feng and the others, walking straight up to Dong Xing.

"Do you know me?"

Dong Xing, with perspiration forming on his forehead, nodded.

"That’s good enough."

"There are two things: first, since my brother has paid for this club, it’s his now. No problem, right?"

"No problem," said Dong Xing through gritted teeth.

"Second, since when do you decide what happens in Sea City? Since when can you speak for your father and me?"

Ye Fan looked disdainfully at Dong Xing, slapping his face with his hand.

"Who are you to dare...!" A young master next to them obviously didn’t recognize Ye Fan, given that Ye Fan had been in Sea City for quite some time but had mostly been at Guard Camp and was not as well-known as he had been in Jin City.

Before the young master could finish his sentence, Ye Fan turned around and kicked him in the stomach, sending the man tumbling to the floor.

"You dare touch me—security!"

This young man was obviously a bit foolish, but the security guards were not so foolish; they could see that the man who had taken action was no ordinary person.

"Ye Young Master, are you going to get involved in Li Feng’s business?"

Dong Xing asked through clenched teeth.
