Chapter 688: Chapter 688 Arranging a Blind Date
Wang Tiandao pushed the door and found it blocked, which immediately made him furrow his brows.
In the room, Wang Jin’er was somewhat panicked, and Li Feng was at a loss for words. This father-in-law really had the worst timing.
"Quick, hide."
Wang Jin’er got up, adjusted her clothes, went to the restroom to flush the toilet, and then headed for the door to open it.
Wang Tiandao burst into Wang Jin’er’s room.
Wang Jin’er followed behind Wang Tiandao, "Dad, what are you doing?"
"Has that bastard Li Feng been here?"
"Dad, aren’t you being too sensitive? With the way you’re acting, even if he wanted to visit, you’d have to let him in first."
Wang Jin’er pouted.
Wang Tiandao turned to look at Wang Jin’er, "Then why are you locking the door in broad daylight?"
"Dad, can’t a girl have her period? Do you really need to pry so much? Or else, search for yourself. Li Feng can’t perform the mythical ability of passing through walls."
"Cough!"
Wang Tiandao coughed as Wang Jin’er glared at him, "Dad, I’m doing this for your own good. That scoundrel is simply no good. Oh, by the way, I’ve selected a few promising young men for you. Here are their profiles and photos. Each one is a hundred times better than that Li fellow."
"Dad, I’m not in the mood right now."
"I’ve left the information on the desk. Take a look when you have time. What’s so good about this Li guy? Our Wang family’s daughter isn’t worried about finding a match."
Wang Jin’er pushed Wang Tiandao out of the room and let out a sigh of relief.
"My dad is just outside; how will you get out?"
Li Feng wasn’t in a rush. He walked over to the desk, picked up the profiles left by Wang Tiandao, and glanced through them.
"Why are you even looking at this?"
"Isn’t it the case of ’know thy enemy’ for an assured victory?"
Wang Jin’er rolled her eyes, and looking at the somewhat chauvinistic Li Feng, she said, "I’m not going to date them. You can rest assured about that."
"Go on, why not!"
"Huh?"
Wang Jin’er looked at Li Feng in surprise. Li Feng then whispered in her ear, and she looked up, "Can this really work?"
"Just do as I say."
Wang Jin’er looked dubiously at Li Feng, biting on her lower lip, "Alright."
Two days later.
Wang Jin’er found Wang Tiandao in the study, "Dad, I’m going out."
"Hmm?"
Wang Tiandao looked up at Wang Jin’er, "To meet that Li Feng? No."
Wang Jin’er took a deep breath, "I’m not going to see Li Feng. Can I go on a blind date? This one with Wang Yu."
Wang Jin’er slapped a profile on the desk, and Wang Tiandao was startled, "Are you really going on a blind date?"
"I’m not going out without a bodyguard."
Wang Jin’er was a bit petulant, but Wang Tiandao didn’t mind. After all, his daughter was on her period and had been grounded at home for more than a week without causing trouble, which was already very well-behaved.
"If it’s a blind date, then go."
"I’ll have someone prepare the car."
Although Wang Tiandao didn’t follow, he arranged at least seven or eight bodyguards for Wang Jin’er. There were three cars. The cars in front and behind held the bodyguards, and the one in the middle was where Wang Jin’er sat. The three-car convoy was definitely befitting a young lady.
At the same time, Wang Tiandao made sure to give the bodyguards numerous instructions, asking them to report back at any time and especially to be cautious of Li Feng.
It could be said that Wang Tiandao guarded against fires, theft, and Li Feng to the utmost when it came to his daughter.
Blue Island Café.
After the bodyguards alighted from the vehicles before and behind, one of them stepped forward to open the car door, Wang Jin’er emerged, surrounded by a troop of bodyguards, her presence completely stealing the spotlight and attracting the attention of passersby.
"Wow, what a grand entrance."
"Jeez, she really is gorgeous. Is she a celebrity or something, having bodyguards around?"
Having exited the car, Wang Jin’er strode into the café. The waitstaff couldn’t help but give a sidelong glance at the spectacle, thinking, Does one need so many bodyguards just to drink coffee?
That’s a bit too much show-off.
Soon, Wang Jin’er spotted her arranged date in the café, a youth dressed elegantly with a scholarly and artistic charm.
Wang Jin’er walked straight over, "Wang Yu?"
"Yes, that’s me. You must be Wang Jin’er?" Wang Yu stood up and flashed a slight smile toward Wang Jin’er.
Wang Jin’er nodded.
"Please have a seat, Miss Wang."
Wang Jin’er hummed through her nose and sat down.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"Anything."
Wang Jin’er said somewhat impatiently, her beautiful eyes scanning around the café. Li Feng had told her he would show up two days ago, but she hadn’t spotted him anywhere.
Had this guy come or not?
Wang Jin’er wondered to herself.
Wang Yu, noticing Wang Jin’er seemed somewhat distracted, snapped his fingers and called over a waiter, "Excuse me, a hot latte, please."
"Anything else?"
"Not for now."
As the waiter left, Wang Yu glanced across at Wang Jin’er, "I know Miss Wang is on her period; something hot would be better."
Upon hearing this, Wang Jin’er’s cold gaze swept over the man across from her; "You seem to know a lot. Did my dad tell you?"
"But I don’t like latte."
"Oh, not liking latte is fine, we can change it. What kind of coffee does Miss Wang prefer?"
Wang Jin’er scoffed coldly, "You seem to know quite a bit about me from my dad, why don’t you guess?"
Wang Jin’er intentionally made it difficult, genuinely disinterested in any sort of match-making. Damn Li Feng, what was he really up to?
Wang Yu squinted, smiling a little, resting his hands on his chin as he looked back at Wang Jin’er, "I guess Miss Wang was forced to come, right?"
"Heh."
Wang Jin’er didn’t care to engage with the matchmaking man seeking conversation, but Wang Yu wasn’t deterred, "I bet Miss Wang even has a boyfriend already, right?"
Wang Jin’er glanced sideways at Wang Yu.
Wang Yu continued, "If I’m not mistaken, Miss Wang’s looking around, probably hoping for your boyfriend to show up, right?"
"Hmm?"
Wang Jin’er turned to Wang Yu, "Is that your guess?"
Wang Yu tilted his lips up, looking at Wang Jin’er, "It’s not that hard to guess. A Miss of such a distinguished status wouldn’t lack suitors, nor would she need an arranged date."
"Clearly, Miss Wang was coerced by her family to come here, and since you’ve been searching for someone or something since the moment you came in, it must be something—or someone—you care about."
"If I’m not wrong, it must be because your family disagrees with him, so they resorted to this tactic to force Miss Wang to go on a date. Am I right?"
Wang Jin’er scoffed coldly, looking at Wang Yu across from her.
"You’re quite right. Since you’re so smart and got everything figured out, why are you still wasting your time here?"
