Chapter 613: Chapter 613: I Am His Father

"Get out of the car!"

Having dealt with Bai Jiuzhou’s bodyguards left outside, the few bodyguards barely had time to catch their breath before a car drove up along the road toward them. A little taken aback, the guards immediately went on alert and approached.

Li Li pushed open the car door only to find a gun barrel pointed at his head, his hand forced onto the car’s body, while Li Mingrui, getting out of the back seat, received the same treatment.

"How dare you! Do you know who we are?" Li Li shouted when he saw Li Mingrui being pressed on the car and searched.

"I don’t care who you are; you’re acting suspicious, so stay put."

The bodyguards didn’t care about the other’s identity; anyone who came had to follow their rules, starting with a search.

Li Li grew annoyed and indignant, "He’s Li Feng’s father."

"Ha, our Young Master’s father? Him?"

The bodyguard sneered, the audacity to claim they were the Young Master’s father was not small.

Li Mingrui’s expression darkened like still water.

"I am Li Feng’s dad, his father, and if you don’t believe me, you can ask him. Would he dare deny his own father?"

A nearby guard, struck by Li Mingrui’s authoritative aura, took a few extra glances at his face and muttered softly, "Could it really be our Young Master’s father?"

The bodyguard restraining Li Mingrui also started to doubt; it wasn’t the one in a thousand he feared, but the one in ten thousand. If this old man truly were their Young Master’s father, would his current actions be tantamount to a grave offense?

"Are you really our Young Master’s dad?"

"In Yan Country, who would dare to impersonate our Family Head? If you’re doubtful, you can call your Young Master to identify me face to face."

Li Li was also getting annoyed, wondering what kind of situation this was.

However, he understood that these young lords’ guards likely did not recognize their own Family Head; the rift between father and son was exceptionally wide. Since their childhood, the number of times they’d communicated could be counted on one hand, and each time had ended in disagreement.

Though father and son by name, they were merely strangers joined by an additional layer of blood relation.

A guard quickly went to report the situation, while another released Li Mingrui and stepped back two paces, vigilantly watching him.

Li Li walked around the front of the car to Li Mingrui’s side, and the three bodyguards didn’t try to stop him, "Family Head, are you alright?"

Li Mingrui shook his head slightly, his expression stern as he surveyed the fountain square before him and the club with its red columns.

Li Li also glanced across the rows of cars parked on the plaza. Apart from these, there was a line of sleek black luxury cars, and on the ground lay a scattering of bodyguards in black suits.

"Family Head."

Li Mingrui had noticed the cars as well. This rebellious son had indeed slapped a lot of faces this time; the area where he resided wasn’t one just anyone could enter.

Yet this defiant son had left with ease, without so much as a hair harmed—this was a significant security breach. If it hadn’t been this defiant son but some hostile spies, would they also be able to come and go as they pleased?

Undoubtedly, there would be an upheaval afterward.

But likely, the top ten families had never anticipated this—no sooner had they negotiated terms with him than their secret guards had been penetrated. If all this wasn’t orchestrated by the top families, he wouldn’t believe it.

Except, the outcome had left quite a mark.

The reporting bodyguard quickly returned; the others looked over.

"It’s probably true."

The bodyguard looked downcast; who could have imagined they’d apprehend the Young Master’s father? The bodyguards exchanged looks.

"Cough, sir, so you truly are our Young Master’s father?"

"Who’s your sir!"

"Big Boss."

A bodyguard rolled his eyes and advised, "Number Five, you might as well keep quiet." The man seemed utterly clueless about addressing his own father, speechless.

It couldn’t just be "the Young Master’s father."

By the elevator.

Li Feng and An Xi hurried to the elevator. As it arrived, Liu Hao and Liu Yu stepped out. Liu Yu was somewhat surprised to see Li Feng, wondering why the great Young Master had come to meet them personally.

"Move aside, hurry down, don’t get in the way."

An Xi dismissed them directly and entered the elevator. With the elevator slowly ascending, An Xi seemed uneasy.

"Young Master, is my outfit not solemn enough?"

Li Feng rolled his eyes, "Can you sit down for a moment? I’m meeting my father, what are you nervous about?"

An Xi pouted.

"Young Master."

The somewhat embarrassed bodyguards turned their heads toward the approaching Li Feng, clearly relieved.

"Why did you come?"

Li Feng turned to Li Mingrui, speaking dryly, while An Xi instantly became the epitome of the demure and graceful girl, stepping forward warmly, "Uncle, nice to meet you. I’m An Xi."

Li Mingrui glanced at An Xi and grunted, then eyed Li Feng, "You’re quite audacious, all right. Where is he?"

"Who, which person?"

Li Mingrui, seeing Li Feng still playing dumb, harrumphed, "The young members of the top families you kidnapped, along with their private guards."

"Surrendering them doesn’t require your personal visit, especially when the terms haven’t been settled yet. Aren’t you overstepping by demanding I release them now?"

Hearing Li Feng speak to him this way, Li Mingrui glared, "Hmph, who do you think you are, kid? You think you’re in a position to negotiate with those old men?"

"I’ll tell you; you’re far from it. If it weren’t for your father, you’d have been arrested by now. No matter how tough you are, how many can you fight off?"

Li Mingrui raised his hand to slap Li Feng, who naturally didn’t stand there to be hit, but quickly stepped back to dodge.

"Are you trying to pressure me?"

"Great Young Master, before you arrived, the Family Head already reached an agreement with the top families. They’ve assured that there will be no further pursuit of this matter."

Li Li hurriedly tried to mediate between the two, as the father and son were like gunpowder, ready to ignite at any encounter.

Li Feng frowned.

"Hmph, a bunch of old foxes. You strike deals with them without knowing anything, without even asking me."

Listening on the side, Li Li trembled at the thought of anyone else speaking to his own Family Head like this.

Li Mingrui arched an eyebrow, insolent brat, thinking he needed your guidance in handling matters.

"Heh, I’m intrigued to hear your wise opinion."

An Xi, standing aside, looked baffled. These two were father and son; were they not archenemies? Why was their tone so intensely charged?

"I have no wise opinions; look for yourself."

Li Feng abruptly turned away.

"Family Head, please calm down. The Great Young Master will understand your painstaking effort," Li Li said, looking at Li Mingrui and offering consolation.

"Will he hell."

Li Mingrui, somewhat irritated, followed after him.
