Chapter 451: Chapter 451 He Lu Betrays
"Where to?"
Li Feng replied.
Sofia blinked twice, "Master, you’re really going? I was just kidding. Why don’t you quickly retract the message?"
Li Feng, looking at Sofia’s pitiful expression, pinched her delicate nose, "What are you thinking? I just want to see what sort of trouble she’s planning to stir up."
Sofia pouted.
"Mhm, if Master wants to play the field, just say it. I’m not oblivious. The allure of wild flowers over homegrown blooms, the best are those unattained. As for someone like me, I can only be a resentful woman in a boudoir, wallowing in self-pity."
Sofia said this and lowered her head to sniffle.
Li Feng reached out, lifted Sofia’s chin, and kissed her forcefully.
"Ah!"
"Master, what are you doing? This is a car."
Li Feng looked at Sofia, who could win an Oscar for her acting, Keep pretending, just keep it up.
The car stopped by the roadside.
"Master, are you coming home tonight?" Sofia asked, her face flushed with rouge.
"Going home."
After saying that, Li Feng closed the door, turned around, and hailed a taxi, "Driver, take me to this address."
Soon, the taxi arrived at the destination. Li Feng paid, got out of the car, and looked up at the Xin Xin Plaza in front of him before walking in.
"I’m here."
"Do you see the Eiffel Tower?"
"I see it."
"I’m right here."
Li Feng glanced at a nearby replica of the Eiffel Tower and walked over, surveying the area. Suddenly, someone attacked from behind.
"Hey."
He Lu popped out from behind and slapped Li Feng’s shoulder, "Scared you, didn’t I?"
Li Feng turned to look at He Lu, a receptionist from Century Group, and the first girl who had asked for his contact information.
"I really was startled."
Li Feng patted his chest as He Lu smirked, "Director Li, that expression is way too fake, but let’s forget it, and go have dinner."
As she spoke, He Lu naturally looped her arm through Li Feng’s, and to the uninformed, they might seem like a couple.
"You’re really forward, aren’t you?"
He Lu squinted and chuckled, "What can I do? I like you. Besides, I love a saying: if neither of us makes a move, where will the story come from?"
"Director Li, do you prefer the quiet and gentle type of girls?"
"Just call me Li Feng when we’re outside," said Li Feng, not pushing He Lu away.
"Don’t you have to work?"
"Heh, I took half a day off. You won’t dock my pay, will you?" said He Lu.
"That’s not for me to manage."
"Then let’s go eat. I know a place that has super delicious barbecue."
"The fish has taken the bait."
"Heh, this Li Feng, truly a womanizer—he took the bait so easily."
From a spot on the second floor that overlooked the downstairs, Dongfang Ding sat with Ma Lin, their gaze sweeping over Li Feng, who was entwined by He Lu.
"Ma Lin, can we trust this woman?"
"Ha, women are very pragmatic. With two hundred thousand and a chance to become a secretary, do you think she would refuse?"
"Besides, I didn’t ask her to do anything illegal, just take the other party out for some food and drinks," Ma Lin said with a smile.
"That chick isn’t bad either, aren’t you afraid that Li Feng will beat you to the punch, him getting the meat while you’re left with the soup?"
"Ha, it’s all just for fun. Why take it so seriously? Besides, this woman is quite sensible. If she were really trying to trap me, she wouldn’t let Li Feng get too much of an advantage."
"Mr. Li, the reason I wanted to meet you is that there’s something I need to tell you."
He Lu bit her lip, seemingly hesitant. Li Feng uttered an "Oh?" and looked at He Lu, "What is it?"
He Lu appeared to struggle internally, "Mr. Li, someone is trying to harm you."
"Hmm?"
Li Feng looked towards He Lu, finding her unexpectedly surprising, "Tell me, who wants to harm me?"
"Ma Lin, the son of Director Ma. Didn’t you two have a scuffle in the lobby before? He found me, wanting me to help him harm you." He Lu spoke up directly.
Oh.
"Ma Lin wants to harm me, and he even wants your help. I would really like to know how he wants you to assist him in harming me."
Li Feng smiled faintly, He Lu, seeing his seemingly unconcerned demeanor, said, "Mr. Li, didn’t you pick up Ma Lin’s credit card and spend his money?"
"Right."
Hearing Li Feng’s admission, He Lu continued, "Ma Lin called you a pauper, saying that if it weren’t for the chairman throwing a pie at you, you’d be nothing."
"Cough, that’s not me talking, it’s all Ma Lin’s words." He Lu explained and cautiously glanced at Li Feng. Li Feng chuckled lightly, "It’s okay, continue. I can tell."
"Well, basically Ma Lin said a lot of bad stuff about you. Didn’t he hear that you were treating us to dinner? So, he came up with a crooked plan."
"He said we should all go out to dinner with you, and find a decent restaurant, preferably a Western one, then order a couple of expensive bottles of wine, the kind that costs tens of thousands, so the bill would be at least two or three hundred thousand."
"He also said that you would definitely use his credit card to pay the bill, but he’s already stopped that card. You’d definitely not be able to use it."
"So when the time comes, Mr. Li, if you can’t pay the bill, it would be quite embarrassing for you. He would then show up just in time to give you a good slap in the face."
Li Feng listened to He Lu, thinking Ma Lin was quite the schemer.
"Is that all? There’s nothing more?"
He Lu shook her head, "That’s all he told me."
"He didn’t give you any benefits, did he?" Li Feng looked at He Lu. Upon hearing his question, He Lu huffed.
"He did, he promised to hire me full-time, and wanted me to become his secretary," said He Lu, her expression revealing a hint of disgust.
"He should look in the mirror, with his looks, I wouldn’t give him the time of day. Yet, he wants me to be his secretary. Pfft."
"His intentions are as clear as Sima Zhao’s; he thinks he can take advantage without giving anything in return. He couldn’t be more wrong."
"I am not that kind of person." He Lu said, waving her fists, and looked towards Li Feng with determination, "Mr. Li, I have an idea."
"Oh, what’s your idea?"
Li Feng looked at He Lu.
"We could use his own scheme against him. Ma Lin wants to floor you, to give you a public embarrassment so he can show up and slap you in the face. We’ll go along with it, but when it’s time to order the wine, we’ll play a trick."
"Make Ma Lin think we’re drinking the expensive stuff, then when you use his card to pay, he’ll jump out, and that’s when you’ll settle the bill."
"He’ll definitely be caught off guard."
Li Feng watched He Lu’s slight excitement, "Doing that, you’ll expose yourself. He might retaliate against you."
"I don’t care. If I’m not welcome here, I’ll find a better place to stay. I’m just an intern now, so what’s there to fear?"
ps: I’m not in a great state, so just three updates today, will try to make it up tomorrow.
