Chapter 397: Chapter 397: There’s a Worm in Your Family

"Oh!"

Li Feng looked at the breached firewall; indeed, the Heavenly Eye system of Sea City was no match for Huacheng. He managed to break through five layers of firewalls in one breath, and yet there were still more firewalls behind them. Suddenly, the defense of the firewalls increased significantly, halting the momentum of his breach.

It seemed that the Heavenly Eye system did have some talent.

"Boss Hai, the opponent has intensified their assault."

"Mmm-hmm, if they’re not leaving, then let’s not let them leave," Hai Wenxiang sneered coldly, "Close the gate to beat the dog."

"Yes!"

The security team’s Red Hackers immediately began typing on their keyboards like lightning, their fast and furious keystrokes sounding like a guzheng playing Ambush from Ten Sides.

"Ah, the atmosphere is quite good, isn’t it?"

The big boss nodded in approval at the scene, satisfied even though it was just a drill; it still showcased the team’s efficiency. However, the person in charge was secretly wiping sweat from his forehead, just hoping nothing unforeseen would happen.

"Heh, luring the enemy deep and then surrounding them from all sides—good idea."

Li Feng sneered, and Han Xue, sitting beside him, watched him speaking to himself. She glanced over Li Feng’s phone in his hand but couldn’t understand a thing. At that moment, his phone was completely black, constantly refreshing with a series of numbers.

To her, this was all high-tech magic.

"An armored car, huh?"

Ling mumbled to himself, about to issue an order when suddenly the screen lit up with a red light and sounded a red alarm.

Ling looked at the screen in surprise, "Fuck, who’s sick in the head, actually trying to invade the Heavenly Eye system?"

Ling frowned because this invasion would undoubtedly trigger the defense mechanism of the Heavenly Eye system and initiate an internal audit. If he was diverting resources, it would be easy for someone to detect his presence. He could only manipulate part of the Heavenly Eye’s permissions for some special reasons.

"Damn it."

Ling cursed under his breath, suddenly realizing he couldn’t exit the Heavenly Eye system directly because the system’s operators had activated all the firewalls; any trace he left would be noticed.

Ling composed himself; his backdoor hadn’t been discovered yet, but he couldn’t afford to be distracted by external actions now.

"Proceed with the plan we established earlier."

Ling immediately delegated the plan and focused intently on the matters at hand with the Heavenly Eye.

"Bad news, the traffic in front is interrupted; looks like there’s been a car accident."

Zhang Wannian had no choice but to hit the brakes, bringing the car to a stop because the road ahead was completely blocked. Even if he were driving an armored car, it couldn’t fly over—unless it was a tank.

"What do we do now?"

At this moment, some motorcyclists dismounted, wielding steel pipes and surrounding them, and others jumped onto the roof of the Mercedes-Benz, banging down furiously.

"Ram through."

"Huh?"

Zhang Wannian was momentarily stunned before Li Feng lifted his head and looked at him: "Smash through the fence and take the side road."

"Yes!"

Zhang Wannian thought he was wild enough, but Li Feng was even more unorthodox; however, he liked it.

Zhang Wannian shifted gears and floored the accelerator, crashing directly into the road’s central divider. The weight of an armored vehicle made it easy to break through the barrier.

Boom.

The person standing on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz was sent tumbling off, and the other motorcyclists scrambled back to their bikes.

"Chase them!"

"Holy shit, they have a death wish, driving against traffic."

Bang.

A car dodged the oncoming Mercedes-Benz in a hair-raising escape, and before it could recover, there was a loud crash as a motorcycle slammed into it, sending the rider flying.

"Is this a freaking blockbuster being filmed here?"

Pedestrians on the roadside, seeing the commotion, all pulled out their smartphones and began filming.

The car quickly approached the intersection, and it was only then that Zhang Wannian saw a large truck blocking the adjacent passage. When had they set up this trap?

"Hold tight!"

No sooner had Zhang Wannian’s words fallen than the several-ton bulletproof Mercedes made a drifting tail spin, catching the two following motorcycles completely off guard.

Clang clang.

The two bikes crashed directly into the side of the Mercedes as Han Xue once again screamed, pressing herself against Li Feng.

Zhang Wannian swiftly shifted gears and pressed the accelerator to the floor. The Mercedes roared back to life and charged forward.

While the motorcycles were fast, they clearly could not contend with the armored car. Even if they managed to catch up, all Zhang Wannian had to do was turn the steering wheel sharply and ram them with the bulk of the car, sending the fragile motorcyclists tumbling out of control.

Li Feng, however, was not focused on the chase. All his attention was fixed on his phone. He had not anticipated Sea City’s Heavenly Eye surveillance system to be so tightly secured, and not only had they locked onto him, but they were also attempting to trace him.

With only a smartphone in hand, Li Feng would have struggled to deal with the situation if not for Azure Dragon’s AI, capable of mobilizing resources. Otherwise, he would have already been pinned to the ground.

The strength of his opponents was nearly at a world-class level.

Li Feng had no intention of direct confrontation. He hadn’t infiltrated Heavenly Eye to take over its control. He quickly typed a message and sent it.

"Your system has worms."

"Boss Hai, what does the other side mean by this? Is it a feint or a distraction?" A Red Hacker, looking at the red characters flashing on the screen, turned to ask Hai Wenxiang.

Hai Wenxiang hmphed, "No matter what he intends to do, he won’t get away. We don’t need a thousand hands for this; check it."

"Yes!"

"Damn."

Zero, seeing the words on the screen, cursed. Who was this intruder who knew of his existence? He had always been cautious and hidden so well that even the security team had not discovered him.

Could this person have come specifically for him?

Impossible.

To have fought in the Heavenly Eye system for so long meant he was a capable hacker. The intruder was careening down the highway at breakneck speeds; they couldn’t afford to be distracted here.

This didn’t make sense.

Damn it, who was this damned bastard? He couldn’t recall offending anyone in the hacker community.

Once Zero saw the security team initiating a self-check, he knew he couldn’t escape. He would have to abandon this Clone and cut all traces to flee, or else if the security team caught him, he would likely be unable to get away.

The opposition was a world-class hacker armed with a supercomputer. He admitted his skills were inferior. Without the backdoor he had previously left, he wouldn’t even have obtained access to Heavenly Eye.

"There really are worms."

"He’s trying to run."

Hearing this, Hai Wenxiang huffed coldly, "Chase him."

"Yes, Boss Hai."

Li Feng, noticing the pressure lessen somewhat in the battle, wondered if Zero had been discovered. It seemed like he no longer had a God’s-eye view.

"Thanks, goodbye."

Li Feng sent four characters and then began to retreat. Azure Dragon, considered as one of the world’s most powerful tools of authority, not only possessed vast network resources but also a semi-artificial intelligence.

If he had intended to seize control of the system, he would have had to deploy many zombies, potentially even super zombies, exposing a lot of his Power. However, if he was merely escaping, it was easy.

Li Feng had already planned his escape route.

"Boss Hai, the intruder has suddenly accelerated his escape, throwing lots of bombs behind him. We can’t catch up to him."

"Let him go for now. Catch that worm for me."

Hai Wenxiang weighed the options for half a second before making a decision. Between an external intruder and an internal worm, the worm posed a greater threat.

"Yes!"
