Chapter 394: Han Xue Begs on Her Knees

Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Han Xue Begs on Her Knees

One by one, boxes were opened, and the high-profile figures were almost entirely caught in a single sweep, stunning everyone present.

"That young comrade is quite impressive, it’s like sweeping out a den of criminals!"

"Leader, it’s not all good news, though."

"Hmm?"

"Among those caught are some entrepreneurs who are quite influential locally. Even if we had suspicions, we’ve never caught any solid evidence against them. If we can’t extract anything useful from them during interrogation, we’re going to be in a serious predicament."

"This case is too big; it’s clear we can’t handle it on our own."

This time, more than twenty drug lords were netted, spanning five provinces and one city; it was more than they could handle alone.

"They had memory sticks around their necks."

Someone quickly and sharply noticed that these unconscious criminals had U-drives around their necks, one per person, all lined up neatly.

"Could it be, the U-drives contain evidence?"

"Impossible, these guys can’t be that foolish, after all, we’ve been matching wits for years, sometimes even for a decade or two."

Clearly, some still didn’t believe it; they dealt with these criminals every day, and these criminals were undoubtedly the most difficult and ruthless bunch to handle, as their deeds would lead to execution by firing squad.

Therefore, if there wasn’t physical evidence caught in the act, these criminals would find every possible means to deny the charges. They also had significant influence and would hire the best lawyers to defend themselves if caught, which was why they couldn’t completely root them out.

The key was evidence.

"Whether it is or not, just open it and we’ll find out."

The people at the scene acted swiftly; they went straight to the conference room, turned on the projector, and started opening video files from the U-drives.

In no time, the confessions spilling from the suspects’ mouths left everyone present dumbfounded.

They confessed just like that.

In a clear and understandable manner, they even revealed many operations and methods unknown to them, exposing everything suddenly.

"This will likely wipe out the underground criminal activities across the five provinces and one city."

The person seated at the head of the room also suddenly realized the severity of the situation; this was no longer an operation they could decide on their own as a single city.

The scope was too broad.

"Leader, the fish we’ve caught is too fat."

"More than fat, it’s virtually putting us out of a job."

"Everyone, hand over your cell phones. I will personally report to the higher-ups, and until we receive clear instructions, no one is allowed to contact the outside world or reveal a single piece of information."

Li Feng had no idea that the second surprise he delivered would cause such an uproar and chaos. After resting for the night and the effects of the anesthetic needle wearing off, Li Feng went straight downstairs, started his car, and left the neighborhood.

He hadn’t driven through two intersections when Li Feng noticed he was being tailed.

"As expected, I’ve got a tail."

Li Feng curled the corners of his mouth, watching the traffic light suddenly change in front of him he shifted gears and stepped on the accelerator. His Mercedes, heavy as a beast, burst forth like a predator emerging suddenly. A strong push from behind came as Li Feng sharply turned the steering wheel to cut across to the front corner.

"Holy shit, are you trying to get killed and reincarnated?!"

A driver who was startled nearby braked hard and cursed loudly on the spot.

Li Feng glanced at the rear-view mirror and made a turn at the next intersection, the car tailing him basically having no chance of catching up.

"Zero, the target has spotted my tail, I’ve lost him."

"You go straight down Chunxi Road, take a right at the third intersection onto Qingnian Road, and don’t follow too closely; he can’t escape."

The man in the clown mask stared at the liquid crystal display in front of him, with control over all the traffic routes in the city.

It was like a game of cat and mouse, where no matter how the mouse scrambled, it couldn’t escape the grasp of the cat’s palm.

"Let’s have a good game today."

The clown-masked man watched Li Feng’s car continually turning corners, circling around the city, and laughed coldly, knowing the other party could never imagine that he possessed a God’s-eye view.

After several circuits, Li Feng finally drove his car into the community where the safe house was located, registered at the community gate, and entered the neighborhood.

Ding dong.

Li Feng rang the doorbell, and Zhang Wannian appeared at the door with a wary face, peering through the peephole to see it was Li Feng before he opened the door.

"You finally got here."

Zhang Wannian felt a sense of relief when he saw Li Feng, after all, staying with a voluptuous young woman had been a tremendous pressure.

"You didn’t do anything to her, did you?"

Li Feng looked at Zhang Wannian, who was still full of youthful vigor; with Han Xue being a beautiful woman, who knew what sparks might have flown between them while cooped up together.

Zhang Wannian rolled his eyes dismissively, "Get lost."

Apparently, the noise at the entryway was heard, and there was movement from the bedroom door, which swung open to reveal a red-eyed Han Xue in the living room.

"How much longer do you want me to hide here?"

Han Xue seemed a bit agitated. Li Feng looked at Zhang Wannian, who said, "Don’t look at me; she saw the video that got leaked online and found out her brother was killed."

"Thank goodness she was still rational, or else I wouldn’t have known how to stop her."

Li Feng nodded and walked into the living room to sit on the sofa, glancing up at Han Xue. She was only just over three months pregnant and not yet showing, but despite the fatigue on her face, it couldn’t conceal her beauty.

"Han Xue, I’m not going to beat around the bush with you. Chen Muyang has gone abroad for treatment, but before he left, he spent a large sum to hire an assassin organization."

"In the past few days, there have been two murders within Century Group that seemed like accidents, and the deceased were all high-ranking members of the group—also relatives with real power in the Chen Family."

"However, no matter how many people in Century Group are taken out, the one person Chen Muyang most wants to eliminate is still you."

"Your brother Han Fei was taken out, but that was just a tactic by the other side to grab your attention, to provoke you into showing yourself."

Han Xue wasn’t dumb; no woman who could marry a wealthy old man was a simple naïve sweetheart.

"I know, but am I supposed to keep hiding like this? When will this end? And I need prenatal checkups; I need a doctor," Han Xue said, biting her lip.

"Of course not."

"After today, you won’t have to continue hiding," Li Feng said.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Han Xue was taken aback upon hearing Li Feng’s words, "Are you planning to abandon me?"

Han Xue looked at Li Feng with a hint of panic. He was the only one she could rely on now. If he wouldn’t help her, she wouldn’t survive to see tomorrow’s sunrise.

Han Xue suppressed the sorrow in her heart, realizing she had no leverage at all, not even a bargaining chip to offer.

Chen Muyang had gone mad, directly hiring assassins to kill his own relatives—would he possibly show any mercy toward her?

She knew full well that as soon as the child in her womb was born, it could replace him as the heir to Century Group.

Biting her lip, Han Xue stood up and knelt before Li Feng, "I was wrong; I admit I was being a bit willful, but you promised to help me."
