Chapter 286: Chapter 286: I Like Mature Men
"Subversion?"
Kang Yu looked interested as he turned to Kang Cheng, the fourth brother, "Let’s hear it."
Kang Yu was not much moved by Kang Lan’s disappearance. The five brothers were not born of the same mother: their father was a notorious womanizer with countless women, which resulted in many children—and their brotherhood was certainly more extensive than just the five of them.
As for the other brothers, they had been either killed by others or eliminated in the rivalries among them.
The ’Five Tigers’ of the Kang Family weren’t given this nickname just because they were sons of the Kang Family.
Sitting on the couch, Kang Cheng looked across at his elder brothers, "I’ve made detailed inquiries. That day, Kang Lan seemed to have found a new toy, a toy that successively eliminated the Blood Disciple and Tyrant in the cage."
"Oh."
Holding his glass of wine, Kang Yu sat up at the news, "Eliminated Tyrant, that vicious character? I’ve seen his boxing matches, incredibly bloody, and given that he was a Mercenary with a past of numerous killings, killing him is no small feat. Who did it?"
Kang Yu pursued the topic eagerly.
Kang Cheng shook his head, "I don’t know."
"You don’t know?"
"Fourth brother, are you joking?"
Kang Lei, who was cutting fruit in front of the coffee table and putting pieces into his mouth, seemed rougher compared to the others. His tough talk reflected his gruff demeanor.
"No joke, almost all of Kang Lan’s associates are dead, except for two models."
"These two models only knew that Kang Lan wanted to use money to bribe someone. Instead, that person kidnapped Kang Lan and left the venue. After that, they knew nothing."
"Since then, Kang Lan has not appeared again, including several of his closest subordinates. So, I suspect it’s not as simple as just a disappearance."
"He might have been killed?" Kang Lei chimed in.
"Exactly."
"And nobody knows who it is. Since he entered the cage, there should have been someone who remembers what he looked like."
"That’s the major problem. I’ve asked several people, and no one can recall his appearance."
"What about those two models, they don’t remember either?"
"They don’t remember. I asked very carefully. They couldn’t describe what the person looked like at all. There are no cameras in the boxing venue, I checked the entrances too—all traces have been cleaned, even the bartender at the bar was killed."
"Heh, sounds like it’s long been premeditated."
"It might also be that the fifth brother crossed someone he shouldn’t have," Kang Yu said, sipping his wine.
"Heh, in Sea City, who could so cleanly kill the fifth brother, leaving no trace behind?"
"There are quite a few possibilities, for instance...!"
As Kang Yu said this, he glanced around at the several brothers present. Although they shared the same father, their relationships were quite cold. If it wasn’t for the mutual wariness among them and external forces at play, they might have already been caught in a fraternal rivalry.
"Second brother, what does that look you’re giving me mean? Are you suggesting I killed our fifth brother?"
"I didn’t say that. However, you’ve been eyeing the fifth brother’s share of business for a long time."
"Heh, I might think about it, but I really don’t have anyone who could silently kill the fifth brother by my side. Besides, this isn’t the time for internal disputes."
Kang Lei scoffed coldly, his gaze sweeping over the frail second brother.
"We need to investigate what happened to the fifth brother. And report this matter to our father. As for what to do next with all that the fifth brother left behind, let’s let father decide. The internal stability of the Sky Wolf Association has been shaky lately. We can’t afford to disrupt our own ranks."
"The eldest has finally spoken some sensible words. Since you found out about this, fourth brother, you should handle the investigation. You’re the smartest among us brothers anyway."
Kang Lei said, then stood up.
"Alright, I need to go too; I’m quite busy."
Kang Cheng shrugged his shoulders, watching as the others left and then lifting his glass for a sip.
"Cheng, what do you think?"
"It’s probably not them. The fifth brother’s share isn’t so easy to take, and the old man wouldn’t easily disturb the balance among us five."
"We should find Chu Binghe and Chu Shiyu; I think these siblings might know something," Kang Cheng said.
"As you wish."
On the roadside, beside a line of street trees.
Li Feng leaned against a tree, a cigarette dangling from his lips, parked beside him was a car with a person sitting inside.
"Kang Cheng is already suspecting the Chu siblings."
Li Feng hmm’d, "Looks like the reputation of the Kang family’s young Zhuge Liang isn’t unwarranted. But when did you get involved with him?"
Chu Wei was lounging in the car, his face obscured by the car’s B-pillar, and though the window was open it was hard to see him clearly.
"It wasn’t me who sought him out; he approached me."
"To be honest, those Five Tigers of the Kang family are no pushovers. You’ve really stepped into a big mess this time."
Chu Wei said.
"Mess, he’s the one who’s in trouble messing with me," said Li Feng coldly.
Chu Wei rolled up the window abruptly, started the car, and drove off while Li Feng tossed the cigarette butt aside and crushed it with his foot before turning back.
As he turned, he saw Wang Qian walking toward him with a backpack on. Before he could greet her, a sports car pulled up beside them, and a young man stepped out and blocked Wang Qian’s path.
"Wang, classmate."
"Why is it you again?"
Wang Qian frowned at the young man across from her: "I think I’ve made it clear. I don’t want to date you."
"It’s your right to reject me, but it’s also my right to pursue you, Wang Qian. You can refuse me once, twice, many times, but I won’t give up."
"You belong to me, Dongfang Liang. It’s destined."
"Whoa, youngster, quite arrogant there."
Li Feng stepped forward from behind and upon hearing Dongfang Liang’s boastful words, he walked past him. Dongfang Liang looked up at Li Feng, clearly displeased.
"Who are you!"
"I’m talking to my classmate; why are you butting in?"
Dongfang Liang glared coldly at Li Feng who had just walked up to Wang Qian’s side, stretching out his hand to hook around her shoulder: "You’re asking who I am, heh, I’m her...!"
"Uncle, are you here to pick me up?"
Wang Qian quickly turned and wrapped her arms around Li Feng’s waist, leaning her head affectionately against his chest.
"Dongfang Liang, now you know. I can’t possibly like you. I prefer mature men, so go pursue someone else."
