Chapter 269: Just a Verbal Thanks?

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Just a Verbal Thanks?

Wang Mingrui felt as if ten thousand alpacas were stampeding through his heart, and Li Feng was definitely doing this on purpose: "I accept it."

Li Feng looked at Wang Mingrui and grabbed his hand, which scared Wang Mingrui so much he almost peed himself, and he hurriedly blurted out, "I said I accept it; I’m not resentful, I truly and sincerely accept your apology."

The pain from earlier might have been brief, but it was intense enough to feel life-threatening, as if it penetrated deep into the soul, casting a long shadow over him.

"Don’t misunderstand, I’m just putting your bone back in place."

Phew.

Wang Mingrui involuntarily exhaled but, in the next second, heard a crackling sound as his bone snapped back into place. The pain was so intense, he nearly bit his tongue and rolled his eyes back in agony.

"...!"

Wang Mingrui wanted to cuss out loud, but Li Feng was quick with his movements, swiftly resetting the broken bones in his hand. Needless to say, sweat was pouring from Wang Mingrui’s forehead.

Sometimes, setting bones can hurt even more than breaking them.

After putting Wang Mingrui’s wrist back in place, Li Feng looked at Wang Mingrui, who had passed out from the pain, and let out a cold laugh.

You should have just gracefully accepted my apology when I offered it, instead of being greedy for more.

Li Feng suddenly turned and glanced at the nurse standing behind him, who also happened to look up at the same moment. With one glance, Li Feng understood Wang Mingrui’s perspective.

This young beauty truly had the potential of a Su Daji, with her peach blossom eyes and a naturally charming look between her brows. She was indeed a woman born with beguiling charm.

Perhaps in terms of temperament, she didn’t match up to Wang Jin’er, but when it came to seducing men, even Wang Jin’er couldn’t compete. What’s more, the nurse was wearing her uniform.

The nurse recoiled half a step when Li Feng gave her that look; he didn’t say anything else and simply walked away from the hospital room. Having apologized to Wang Mingrui, there was still Wang Mingyang to deal with.

The nurse watched Li Feng leave and, with a hand over her chest, took a deep breath. She turned to glance at the unconscious Wang Mingrui and instinctively bit her lip.

After a long moment, the nurse exhaled and left the room.

Fifteen minutes later, Li Feng walked out of Wang Mingyang’s hospital room. Unlike Wang Mingrui, Wang Mingyang hadn’t lifted a finger against the nurse; he was just playing games. The Wang family’s arrogance was nothing new, so Li Feng had no choice but to adopt a similar approach.

And then...

Li Feng had completed his apologies. As for whether there would be any repercussions, he didn’t let it bother him.

Oh.

Li Feng looked up to see a flash of pink—it seemed to be the same nurse from Wang Mingrui’s room. He diverted his path from the waiting elevator to the other side, towards the emergency stairwell.

"Chu Shiyu, where do you think you’re hiding? It’s time to pay back the money you owe us."

"Little Black, can you give me a few more days? I’ve already landed a job, and I’ll pay the money back as soon as I get my wages."

Chu Shiyu pleaded with the man across from her.

"Cut the crap. Even if you’ve got work, how much can you make? At most a few hundred a day; barely enough to cover the interest. Besides, your deadbeat dad’s still in the hospital, and I know you owe the hospital a fair amount too."

"The money you make will probably go to the hospital first."

The man sneered, stepping forward to intimidate her as she backed against the wall: "Chu Shiyu, you don’t need to struggle like this. With your looks and figure, making money could be very easy."

"Hehe, exactly. Just nod your head, and you could make tens of thousands in a single night."

Chu Shiyu bit her lip: "I won’t do that kind of work, I’ll definitely pay back the money, just don’t push me, or it’ll be a case of both sides losing."

"Ha, both sides losing."

The man started laughing uproariously, reaching out for a forceful push against the wall: "Chu Shiyu, would you really abandon your poor old dad? Aren’t you the most filial? If you die, he surely won’t make it."

"Besides, I’m just asking you to accompany some drinks, not do anything else. What’s there to resist? You really need the money, don’t you?"

Creak.

The door to the emergency stairway burst open, and Li Fengtu unexpectedly appeared in the stairwell. The men inside turned to look at him.

"What are you looking at? There’s nothing to see here, scram."

A thug spoke arrogantly as he sized up Li Feng, while Chu Shiyu, who had been cornered against the wall, glanced at Li Feng.

Why is it him?

Li Feng looked at the arrogant young thug, "What did you say?"

"You told me to scram?"

"What’s it to you, you want to meddle?" Several thugs gathered around, and the one who had told Li Feng to scram even cracked his knuckles with a threatening sound.

Li Feng chuckled.

The next second, Li Feng’s punch, quick as lightning, shattered the aggressor’s nose. He stepped forward in a swift movement, grabbed the man’s shoulder, and with a sweep of his leg, executed a perfect judo throw.

"Get him!"

The other thugs immediately started swinging at Li Feng, who barely bothered to dodge and quickly floored the group in no time.

The thug who had cornered Chu Shiyu turned around, frowning at Li Feng.

"Bro, what do you mean by this?"

Li Feng looked up, "No meaning. I was just going downstairs when he told me to scram. See, I’m not good at ’scramming’, so I figured he should teach me."

"Any problems with that?"

The thug eyed Li Feng, "No problems. Very good."

"Chu Shiyu, today I’ll let you off the hook, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. My boss doesn’t have the patience to toy with you, three days. Either pay up within three days or, you know, go work the tables."

"Let’s go."

"Hey, did I say you could leave?"

The thug turned back to look at Li Feng, "Buddy, don’t push it."

"What if I do push it?"

Li Feng smirked playfully at the man, who cursed and pulled out a switchblade from his pocket.

"Looking to die, are you? Do you know who I roll with? You’re overstepping your bounds."

"Ah, be careful!"

Chu Shiyu watched as the thug lunged at Li Feng with the switchblade, her face turning white as she gasped in alarm.

"Go!"

Li Feng watched the approaching thug and kicked out like lightning, sending him tumbling down the stairs.

Chu Shiyu swallowed nervously and looked up at Li Feng.

"Thank you."

Li Feng turned to look at Chu Shiyu, "Just a verbal thanks? Doesn’t seem very sincere."

"Ah!"

Chu Shiyu was stunned, but the phrase sounded familiar; that’s right, she had heard it before in the hospital room from Wang Mingrui.

"So, what do you want?"

Chu Shiyu looked at Li Feng warily, hoping he wasn’t also after her body.

"I just happened to overhear a bit as I passed by. Are you really in need of money?" Li Feng asked with a sly smile.

Chu Shiyu bit her lip, knowing it was indeed the case.
