Chapter 225: Chapter 225 Li Feng Gets Caught
Boom!
Another gunshot rang out.
The bullet grazed past Li Feng’s body and kicked up fragments on the ground beside him.
He dodged it.
The assassin felt as if he had seen a ghost; what kind of tactic was this, was this even humanly possible?
At that moment, the assassin became a little nervous.
His target was quickly crossing the street, heading straight toward him.
There was still a chance.
The assassin forced himself to calm down; the dozen meters wide road would take the other side two to three seconds to sprint across, surely enough time to fire another shot.
The assassin steadied himself, his gaze fixed on the rapidly approaching Li Feng, closed one eye to look through the sight, and thought, come on, let’s see how you dodge this time.
As the assassin thought this, however, in the instant his sight shifted to the scope, Li Feng’s figure flashed and blurred like a ghost through the sight.
The assassin subconsciously adjusted the angle, but before he could capture Li Feng’s form again, Li Feng flickered once more.
Damn it.
Cursing inside, the assassin grew a bit frantic; can’t you just stand still and let me blow your head off? Though he cursed inwardly, the assassin began to panic.
No time to dawdle.
The assassin instinctively pulled the trigger.
Ding.
A coin collided with the bullet in mid-air, the coin spinning into the sky, and the bullet deviated off course, plunging into a roadside tree not far away.
"Fuck."
The assassin cursed loudly, threw aside his gun, opened the car door, and charged toward Li Feng.
Li Feng smirked coldly, dodged the incoming punches and kicks with a swift movement, and grabbed the assassin’s neck. With brute strength, he sent the assassin’s body flying.
Crash.
The assassin slammed hard against the car, his pain igniting a fierce aggressiveness, but Li Feng didn’t give him a chance to turn the tables.
The assassin fought back with his left hand, but Li Feng broke it promptly. The assassin tried to strike at Li Feng’s lower body, but Li Feng anticipated and aimed a kick straight at his sensitive area.
The assassin sucked in a breath of cold air and looked up at Li Feng, whose strength overwhelmed him: "Are you human, or a ghost!"
The assassin was beginning to question his life choices, as if his opponent could read his mind, making his attempts to defend seem like offering himself up for a beating.
"I am your worst nightmare."
Li Feng, holding the assassin’s neck: "Who sent you."
The assassin stubbornly replied: "I’m a professional."
Li Feng’s lips curled into a smile: "Oh, is that so."
Before the words were out of his mouth, Li Feng knocked out the assassin with a chop of his hand, opened the car door, tossed the assassin inside, and went through his possessions, finding a cellphone.
Li Feng dialed a number directly using the cellphone.
Beep beep.
The call connected after a single ring.
Li Feng didn’t speak, and neither did the person on the other end; both sides were silent.
Li Feng suddenly smiled.
"I know who you are now, wait for me to come to you." He then hung up the phone and tossed it to the ground, crushing it into pieces.
Beep beep, beep beep.
Listening to the dial tone from the phone.
Baili Hai took a deep breath, a sense of terror looming over him: "The assassin has failed; he knows it was me."
Baili Hai felt fear for the first time in his life, his hand trembling from being frightened by the unseen person at the other end of the phone call.
"Master Hai, calm down, I think the other party is bluffing us; they couldn’t possibly know it was us."
"How do you know? If he’s not dead, that assassin will definitely betray us."
"Master Hai, the assassin was contacted through email; even the assassin doesn’t know who we are." Smiling Buddha, the plump Huang, looked at Baili Hai as he spoke.
Baili Hai was stunned for a moment, his muddled brain clearing as he was reminded, "Right, the assassin doesn’t know it was us at all. I almost got conned by that bastard."
"Damn it."
Baili Hai suddenly felt alive again, but he was still anxious, "But what if he suspects us?"
Smiling Buddha fell silent for a while, then raised his eyes to look at Baili Hai, "Master Hai, didn’t you say you had an important business deal to discuss down south?"
"Yeah, that deal is indeed very important. Go get me a plane ticket now."
Li Feng finished smoking two cigarettes next to his car when a vehicle pulled up beside him and a person got out.
"The man is yours now. The professional assassin probably won’t divulge much, but it’s almost certain he was sent by Baili Hai."
"The Baili Family still has its uses."
Li Feng shrugged, "If they’re still useful, let’s keep them around for now. How is your cuckoo plan coming along?"
"I am now in charge of reorganizing the Dark Department of the Heavenly Wolf."
"Okay," Li Feng replied, "Have fun with that. I’m going upstairs, it’s freezing out here."
Chu Wei nodded, watching as Li Feng crossed the street, then turned to get in the car and drove away with the assassin.
Li Feng had just reached the upper floor when a piercing siren sounded below. A dozen police officers jumped out of their vehicles and charged into the apartment building.
"According to an emergency call, the suspect is armed. Everybody be careful."
The elevator door opened on a lower floor, and the officers then climbed directly up to the eighteenth floor via the emergency stairwell, pushing through the security door into the corridor. The apartment door was wide open, and the officers exchanged glances before they coordinated and charged in.
"Raise your hands, don’t move."
A swarm of police raided the eighteenth-floor apartment, to find that it was full of incapacitated people, with only one person sitting on the sofa, sipping red wine.
"Officers, could you please put down your guns? Even though the safety is on, it would be unfortunate if you scared me."
Li Feng said to the visibly tense police officers.
A few officers immediately felt awkward, especially the leading female officer who looked at the unfazed Li Feng, still daring to joke with them while sitting on the sofa.
"You, stand up and put your hands up."
"Officer, I was the one who made the emergency call. I called you here to protect me," Li Feng said squinting at the well-built and attractive female officer.
"I told you to stand up, didn’t you hear me?" The female officer, fiery natured, unlocked the safety on her gun.
Li Feng conceded, setting down his wine glass and standing up.
"Put your hands behind your head."
"Isn’t that a bit excessive?"
"Cut the chatter, put your hands behind your head," the fiery female officer glowered at Li Feng, who shrugged and complied, placing his hands behind his head.
"Turn around."
Jin Beibei watched as Li Feng turned, then she rushed over and pushed him down onto the sofa, handcuffing him.
"Officer, is this how you treat a law-abiding citizen?"
"Save it," she snapped, "We can talk back at the station."
"Captain, we found three modified tranquilizer guns. These people were shot with the tranquilizer, which is why they’re paralyzed and can’t move, but they’re otherwise unharmed."
One officer stepped forward to report.
"Captain, no one else is in the room, but there are signs it’s been searched, and there are some items on the floor."
Jin Beibei furrowed her brow, looking at the handcuffed Li Feng, "Did you take these people down?"
Li Feng shook his head, "No, they were like this when I came back. Maybe they fought over their loot."
Jin Beibei stared at Li Feng for a moment, "Don’t try to fool me. Who the hell are you?"
