Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Li Family

Shen Yanran briskly walked up to Li Feng, stopping nearly flush against him, glaring furiously at Li Feng, "What did you say to Jin’er? Did you threaten her? Do you believe I can crush you like crushing a mere ant, so simply?"

"Yanran."

Wang Jin’er stepped forward to hold back Shen Yanran, who was like an enraged husky, then turned to look at the police, "Officer, we know each other. It was just a game of Truth or Dare earlier."

"Miss, you know it’s illegal to make a false alarm, right?"

"Officer, I’m truly sorry."

"Just this once, don’t let it happen again."

"Thank you, officer. I promise there won’t be a next time."

Watching the police leave, Wang Jin’er breathed a sigh of relief, and Shen Yanran, with her hackles raised, addressed Wang Jin’er, "Jin’er, the police are gone; tell me how he threatened you. You don’t have to be afraid; if he dares to threaten you, I can take care of him."

Shen Yanran cast a cold glance at Li Feng, clenching her fists.

"You hand over Sister Mei, or else... hmph." Wang Jin’er walked up to Li Feng, her eyes cold as she stared at him.

Li Feng looked at Wang Jin’er, who bared a cute little canine tooth while threatening him, thinking her fierceness was somewhat adorable, "Come with me."

Li Feng then suddenly turned around.

Shen Yanran waved her fist at the back of Li Feng’s head, "Jin’er, let’s go. I want to see what he dares to do to us!"

"Bai He, get the car ready!"

"Yes, Young Master Feng."

The group arrived outside the Outer Heaven hotel, and as Wang Jin’er and Shen Yanran came through the sliding doors, they saw a line of pristine Mercedes-Benz parked at the entrance.

Click.

The car door of the Mercedes opened, and a line of men in black suits stepped out, standing by the side of the car. In the middle vehicle, a meticulously dressed middle-aged man exited through the passenger side and walked straight towards Li Feng.

"Heh, this pretense is quite something," Shen Yanran sneered with disdain, seeing it all as nothing but a show put on by Li Feng. What was he trying to do?

"Young Master."

The middle-aged man approached Li Feng and respectfully addressed him as the young master.

"Uncle Li, what brings you here?"

Li Feng frowned as he looked at the Li Family’s major-domo. When the middle-aged man saw Li Feng, a trace of relief appeared on his face, "Young Master, you still recognize me."

"Uncle Li, you haven’t changed a bit from back then."

After the death of Li Feng’s mother, Li Feng had been sent to Jin City and stayed there for more than a year. In that home, only this major-domo had really looked out for Li Feng.

"Uncle Li, you wouldn’t come to me without reason. Did he send you?"

The ’he’ Li Feng referred to was naturally his biological father, but the two had fallen out long ago, and while not completely cutting ties, their contact had been minimal over the years.

The last conversation they’d had was when Li Feng had married into the Zhang Family, and he received a call just to be scolded fiercely.

"Young Master, the old lady’s seventieth birthday is in a few days, and the master insists you attend."

Li Feng frowned even deeper; the old lady was his grandmother, who had never shown the slightest affection for him, even exuding distaste from her very bones.

"Young Master, come with me. What grudge can a father and son have that lasts overnight? No matter how much you dislike that home, you’re still the eldest son and young master of the Li Family."

Li Feng looked at Uncle Li, who spoke earnestly, "Alright, Uncle Li."

Li Feng turned back to look at Wang Jin’er and Shen Yanran, "She’s in the hospital; Bai He, you take them over."

Having said that, Li Feng turned and got into the car; the major-domo immediately closed the door, sat in the passenger seat, and the motorcade left Outer Heaven quickly.

"Darn it, what’s he putting on airs for."

The car drove straight to the airport, and from there, he flew to Jin City. A special vehicle was waiting to escort Li Feng directly to the Li Family’s old mansion in Imperial City.

Li Feng didn’t speak a word throughout the journey, but he sensed that being summoned back to Imperial City was not only for the old lady’s seventieth birthday celebration. It was something more serious.

"Hey, isn’t that the bastard who ran away from home? You actually have the nerve to step back into this house. I remember you saying that you would never set foot in this door in your lifetime."

Just as he entered the old mansion, a sneering voice came from the side. Li Feng turned his head and saw a chubby, squinty-eyed young man approaching him.

The speaker was his half-brother from the same father, Li Zidong.

Li Feng let out a cold laugh and ignored him, continuing to walk inside.

Li Zidong’s eyelid twitched; he internally cursed at being ignored.

"Li Feng, people need dignity like trees need bark. How can you be so shameless? Having made such a mess of things outside, you finally hit rock bottom and decided to come crawling back home, eh?"

"I heard you got kicked out by the family you married into, tsk tsk, you’re really something. Even though you have the bloodline of the Li Family, being a live-in son-in-law was already pathetic enough, but to be kicked out, too... I’m embarrassed for you."

"Dad almost got a heart attack when he heard about your divorce. It’s a good thing you didn’t mention you were from the Li Family of Jin City; otherwise, you would have brought shame upon us all."

Li Zidong was mocking Li Feng, never having had any respect for this brother who was nothing but their father’s illegitimate child, someone who had no right to compete with him.

Li Feng swept a cold glance at Li Zidong: "Are you done with your nonsense?"

Li Zidong, hearing Li Feng’s rude words, felt anger rising and stepped forward to glare at Li Feng.

"Li Feng, take a hint and get lost. There’s no place for a bastard like you here. You couldn’t stand being in this house before, and even more so now."

"Dad’s going to have a word with you later. Whatever he says, you must refuse. Got it?"

Li Feng stopped in his tracks and looked at Li Zidong with sarcasm: "Li Zidong, are you ordering me?"

"You can take it as advice, if you will. There’s only one master of the Li Family, and that’s me. Don’t force me to deal with you."

Li Zidong stepped in front of Li Feng, their gazes locked in confrontation.

"You’re not up to the task."

Before Li Zidong could finish, Li Feng stepped forward and bumped his shoulder into Li Zidong. Li Zidong, who was all bluster and no substance, stumbled and fell flat on his back.

"You never learn."

Li Feng looked down at the fallen Li Zidong with contempt and walked away toward the inner courtyard.

"Fuck! Li Feng, you’ve got guts! Just you wait."

"Come to my study."

Li Mingrui saw Li Feng and directly called him into the study without beating around the bush.

"I’ve summoned you back not just for your grandmother’s seventieth birthday but also for another matter. I need to take things further. The Wang Family has already agreed to support me, so our families will be joined by marriage."

"It’s tentatively going to be you."

Li Feng looked at his father, the corners of his mouth revealing a hint of playfulness, "You want me for an arranged marriage? Are you mistaken? I’m your illegitimate son, and the Wang Family you’re talking about isn’t just any family, besides, I’ve just gone through a divorce. Would they even agree to this?"

"I’ve already discussed your situation with the Wang Family, and they’ve agreed."

A flicker of surprise passed through Li Feng’s eyes: "Is the daughter of the Wang Family sick or born with disabilities?"

"No." Li Mingrui shook his head: "I’ve seen the Wang young lady myself. She is beautiful, gentle, a graduate from a prestigious university, and kind-hearted at her core. To say she’s both talented and beautiful is no exaggeration."

"And she would marry me? You’re not joking? Even if you rise to power and promise countless benefits, the Wang Family wouldn’t agree to this marriage."

Li Feng wasn’t belittling himself; the Wang Family his father referred to was among the powerful and age-old ’Five Families and Seven Surnames’.

"I told you, they have agreed, with just one condition."

"A live-in groom!"
