Chapter 834: Chapter 853: Apologizing and Pleading
Boom!
Huangquan Inn collapsed with a roar, and the wind and clouds changed in this realm, revealing behind the inn a towering city wall that reached up to the skies. A black plaque hung high on the wall, inscribed with three blood-red characters.
Ghost Gate!
“How is this possible?”
Suddenly, White Impermanence screamed in horror, because he simply couldn’t believe his eyes. Huangquan Grandma, whom he exceptionally revered, couldn’t even withstand a single move and was severely injured by Ye Xuan’s strike. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would have thought it was an unbelievable tale.
Step—step—step.
Ye Xuan walked forward leisurely, a Buddha light rising behind him. With each of his steps, the entire Overworld trembled along with him, drawing the attention of figures across the Underworld.
“Mere ghost creatures dare to raise a hand against me? Today, I shall obliterate you, and let your soul scatter and perish, to demonstrate the majesty of the Buddhist Sect.”
“Amitabha!”
Within the Buddha realm, all laws and forms, Ye Xuan pressed his palms together and chanted compassionately. He extended a palm, striking towards the prostrate Huangquan Grandma. The realm suddenly altered, as myriad Buddha illusions manifested, their resplendent Buddha light enveloping everything, descending upon Huangquan Grandma.
“Buddha, stop! Please spare her life.”
Such a scene instantly jolted White Impermanence awake. He trembled as he knelt on the ground, continually kowtowing to Ye Xuan. This was because Huangquan Grandma must not die; her death would cause enormous chaos, and as one of the involved parties, he certainly wouldn’t fare well.
But alas, who was Ye Xuan?
How could he pardon Huangquan Grandma because of the mere plea of White Impermanence?
Boom!
Myriad Buddha illusions chanted in the heavens’ void, the golden Buddha palms overshadowed everything, bearing the energy to suppress all things, still falling towards Huangquan Grandma, evidently about to completely suppress her within the realm.
“Master, save me!”
As death approached, Huangquan Grandma was completely panicked; she shrieked desperately, pleading for help from the depths of the Underworld, as if a terrifying figure there could save her life.
“Fellow Daoist, your mana is boundless. My little disciple dared to offend. I apologize on her behalf to you.”
Abruptly, a hoarse, aged voice echoed through the realm, and a murky river suddenly emerged from the void, instantly enveloping Huangquan Grandma. At this moment, the golden Buddha palms descended with a deafening sound, causing dizziness and disorientation.
Boom!
The sky turned dark, dim light shot in bursts, while fragments of Buddha light scattered in all directions. Even Ye Xuan, being a Semi-Saint, was forced to take a step back, his brows furrowing slightly.
“Such powerful cultivation!”
Ye Xuan exclaimed in shock, his expression growing solemn because he knew well his own power.
For instance, even without passing the Heavenly Dao First Tribulation, he could suppress two Demon Emperors, and now having passed the Heavenly Dao Second Tribulation to become a Semi-Saint, it would only take ten breaths to suppress two Demon Emperors, and he could claim to have no opponents beneath the Saints.
Yet today, the person who protected Huangquan Grandma shocked him with their cultivation exceeding the Quasi-Saint level, even forcing him to step back—a fact that left Ye Xuan astounded.
“Hmm?”
Suddenly, Ye Xuan’s expression paused, because the Ancestor Witch Order in his arms underwent a change, releasing a scorching sensation and transmitting obscure information into his mind.
“Could it be her?”
“How can this be?”
Ye Xuan muttered in horror, unable to believe what he perceived, his eyes deep as they gazed towards the depths of the Underworld with a Dharma Eye, seeing through the endless void directly at the mysterious figure responsible.
A bridge, a person.
The bridge was Naihe Bridge, the person an elder woman holding a broken bowl, her white hair veiling her face, and her cloudy eyes gazed back at Ye Xuan.
“Meng Po?”
As they locked eyes through the endless void, Ye Xuan murmured, his demeanor extremely peculiar, as if he had seen something unbelievable.
“Fellow Daoist with boundless power and touted as the first below the Saints, I hope you will give me some face and spare my ignorant disciple.” Nahe Bridge, Meng Po bent in a bow, lowering her posture.
Wow!
This stirred up waves as Meng Po’s voice reverberated through the Underworld, causing countless formidable figures to gasp, for her statements were startlingly shocking, and her evaluation was simply unbelievable.
First below the Saints?
What kind of joke is this?
This joke seemed too exaggerated!
Pangu opened the sky, Hong Jun preached the Dao, six Great Saints emerged, and below the Saints are countless Quasi-Saints, yet no one dared to declare themselves the first below the Saints — such arrogance was beyond measure.
If these words came from Ye Xuan, the dreadful figures in the Underworld would laugh it off as arrogance.
Yet, these words from Meng Po’s mouth shocked all the terrifying figures, half convinced, because Meng Po was among the few strongest in the Underworld; even calling her the first person wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
And who would dare not believe her?
With the world initially opened, all things were born, through the Dragon Han Tribulation and the Witch Demon War, the realms once called Primordial shattered and fragmented, forming today’s Three Realms.
During that time, souls couldn’t reincarnate, the Underworld emerged, and on the Naihe Bridge appeared a woman named Meng Po.
No one knew Meng Po’s origins, nor her identity, nor from whence she came; only with passing time, Meng Po remained on that Naihe Bridge, sending souls in the realm to reincarnation.
But Meng Po’s terror lied in a single matter, known only to the Quasi-Saints of the Underworld.
In the past, after the Witch Demon War, countless beings perished miserably, gathering grievances to form a Formless Heavenly Ghost in the Underworld.
What is the Formless Heavenly Ghost?
Invisible and formless, containing all forms and laws, reigning supreme — it was born of grievances and deemed an undying entity, even Quasi-Saints saw no escape facing it.
This Formless Heavenly Ghost, born of grievances, had no physical form, did not belong to any race, nor human, ghost, immortal, demon, nor devil.
It devoured spirits to strengthen itself, turning the entire Underworld into its slaughterhouse, consuming resentful souls and evil spirits, growing fearsomely powerful, even defeating a dozen Quasi-Saints, devouring several in the process.
As despair engulfed the Underworld, Meng Po emerged from the Naihe Bridge, and that day, the residents witnessed her terrifying power.
