Chapter 787: Chapter 806: Tongue Blooms Lotus, Speechless

Western Paradise Realm!

In the eyes of mortals, the so-called Western Paradise Realm is Lingshan’s Thunderclap Monastery, but the actual situation is that the Western Paradise Realm is the spiritual domain of the Western Two Saints, also the dwelling place of Saints.

To open up the void and establish realms was exclusively the method of Saints. However, the worlds created by Saints were also contained within the Three Realms. If the heavens and earth in the external world were destroyed, the realms opened by Saints would also vanish like smoke in the air.

Put simply, the title of Saint was bestowal by Heavenly Dao— even Saints must rely on Heaven and Earth to exist, let alone the worlds they created!

Whooosh!

Infinite golden seas of suffering; golden waves rising and falling in succession. On both banks, towering spiritual mountains and fortunate lands stood steadfast, bathed in the golden Buddha Light illuminating the boundless void. Amidst the waves of the sea of suffering, Golden Lotuses could occasionally be seen blooming.

A bamboo raft rode along the waves, seemingly afloat in the sea of suffering yet as stable as Mount Tai amidst the surging waves.

Atop the bamboo raft, the Western Two Saints smiled benignly with Buddha Light swirling around them, while Ye Xuan sat cross-legged, his eyes slightly closed. Strands of Chaotic Divine Light twisted around him, obviously, he was healing his own injuries.

“There is no shore in this sea of suffering; turning back is the shore, but if you cross this sea of suffering, a bright shore awaits ahead, much like the state you are in at the moment, my young friend Ye. You should let go of killing intent and join my brother and me in exclusively practicing the Buddhist Law and charitable deeds,” Jieyin spoke with a smile.

“What defines a Buddha?” Ye Xuan slowly opened his eyes; his gaze calm as he looked at the endless water, his voice hoarse.

“To ferry all living beings, leading people toward goodness—this is what defines a Buddha,” Zhunti joined hands and chanted Buddha’s name high, providing Ye Xuan with an ascribed answer.

“Do you two consider yourselves Buddhas then?” Ye Xuan raised his eyes to look at the Western Two Saints, a sneer forming at the corner of his mouth.

Observing Ye Xuan’s sneering expression, the Western Two Saints showed no signs of irritation. Instead, they amiably responded, “We two established Buddhism with the aim of benefiting all sentient beings. If you consider us Buddhas, then we are Buddhas.”

“If you are Buddhas, then what am I?”

“A demon?”

Ye Xuan rasped, questioning. Throughout his journey, the Western Two Saints had continuously imparted Buddhist concepts to him. However, Ye Xuan had never heeded them, until he entered the Western Paradise Realm, eventually speaking up on this bamboo raft.

“Put down the butcher knife, and you can immediately become a Buddha. Even a demon can become a Buddha,” Zhunti softly stated.

“Zhunti, according to what you say, as long as a demon is willing to put down the butcher knife, then they can become a Buddha. But why is it that those who wholeheartedly embrace goodness cannot become Buddhas?” Ye Xuan asked with a smile.

Hearing Ye Xuan’s words, Zhunti briefly faltered and responded, “This…?”

“What defines a Buddha? What defines a demon? It’s merely your unilateral views. In this world, only formidable power is fundamental; the weak can only act according to the rules of the strong. Just like I, Ye Xuan, whose Cultivation is inferior to you two, you can label me a demon because the weak fundamentally have no say. This is the true nature of this world; the so-called distinction between Buddha and demon is nothing but a colossal joke.”

“The strong are respected as majestic as mountains, while the weak crawl like dogs. Isn’t this the principle?”

Ye Xuan’s smile was gone, his voice still as hoarse, only his face appeared fiercely malicious, his eyes gazing at the Western Two Saints filled with sheer contempt.

“How audacious.”

Zhunti’s smile faded, his expression turning into the fierce countenance of a Buddha’s warrior attendant. The terrifying might of the Saint stirred up the enormous waves of the sea of suffering, turning the golden sea suddenly dark as ink.

“It seems I’ve exposed your hypocrisy and made you furious?”

“Ha ha!”

Ye Xuan burst into laughter, his voice filled with profound sarcasm, completely disregarding the terrifying saintly might radiating from Zhunti.

“Junior brother, you are right,” Jieyin frowned and said.

Woo!

A breeze blew over the bitter sea, and the angry expression on Zhunti’s face quietly vanished, his face once again serene as he brought his hands together and said, “Thank you for the reminder, senior brother—I am ashamed.”

“Young friend Ye, you are absolutely correct. This world indeed has mighty ones as numerous as mountains, but our Buddhist Sect has always guided beings toward goodness, bound by seven major regulations, slaying demons, and delivering all beings of the Three Realms, also inspiring reverence for the teachings of Buddhism from within all creatures. This is not merely achieved through power.”

Jieyin spoke eloquently, his voice softly chanting a Buddhist invocation, advocating the Sect’s mission of guiding beings toward goodness.

“Ha!”

A sneer curled the corner of Ye Xuan’s mouth as he looked at the Western Two Saints, his gaze once again filled with disdain.

“Then let me ask you, if this world had no demon’s slaughter, where would Buddha’s compassion be? What need would all beings have for your Buddhist Sect?”

“Heaven and Earth were born from Chaos. The clear ascending to form Heaven, the turbid descending to form Earth, dividing into Yin and Yang, the sun rising as Yang, the moon setting as Yin, all things therefore also dividing into male and female. With Heaven and Earth alone, not only Yin and none Yang, life could not exist, nor could the existence of right and wrong within the Daoist laws of all things; this simple truth you do not comprehend and yet you seek to impart onto me the profound essence of Buddhist Law? Isn’t that just a grand joke?”

Ye Xuan blossomed in speech like a lotus in his discourse; even as Jieyin’s amiable facade gradually dissolved; his face sunk into deep gloom, unable to offer a retort.

Ye Xuan’s perspective was not incomprehensible to them; it was indeed the law of Heaven and Earth. But to their Buddhist lineage, it sounded completely absurd. Should these words spread within the Sect, they would surely incite great catastrophe.

Finally, the Western Two Saints ceased speaking, sealing their lips and no longer engaging in dialogue with Ye Xuan. Clearly, both had realized that continuing the conversation would only infuriate them further without converting Ye Xuan, risking their own laws and paths to be thrown into disorder by him.

Seeing the Western Two Saints fall silent, Ye Xuan sneered once more and closed his eyes to meditate, though his gaze held immense weight, far from the calm and triumph his demeanor suggested.

Ye Xuan never bothered with verbal disputes; although it seemed he triumphantly bested the Western Two Saints in this debate, it held no true utility for him.

Cultivation, strength—these were fundamental; all else was but illusions, mirages.

Moreover, Ye Xuan was painfully aware that being in the clutches of the Western Two Saints, nothing good awaited him. Even though he wished to escape from their grasp, it was harder than reaching the heavens.

Two Saints, who could save him?

It was truly a deadlock, an impasse Ye Xuan had no means to break unless he could survive the Heavenly Dao’s Three Tribulations, possessing cultivation rivaling a saint, or if Hong Jun, the Daoist Ancestor, appeared—then he might regain his freedom.

But both ways were practically impossible.

At this moment, he was merely at the Quasi-Saint stage, not even having faced Heavenly Dao’s First Tribulation yet, let alone surviving the Three Tribulations to achieve a cultivation comparable to that of a saint.

As for Hong Jun, the Daoist Ancestor, mysterious and inscrutable, who had nearly destroyed his path of Proving Dao with Power in the past, how could he possibly appear and rescue him from the hands of the Western Two Saints? That was nothing short of a fantasy.
