Chapter 732: Chapter 751: The Uncertain Minghe Ancestor
“Hongmeng Purple Qi?”
Ye Xuan voiced his astonishment and then turned to address the Minghe Ancestor, “From whom did Minghe hear such a claim, for how would I, an Emperor, possess the Hongmeng Purple Qi?”
Observing Ye Xuan’s innocent demeanor, the smile on the Minghe Ancestor’s face gradually faded. His fingers tapped lightly on the table, emitting a dull sound, and his gaze towards Ye Xuan grew increasingly cold.
“Daoist Ye, heed my advice; the matter of the Hongmeng Purple Qi is of great importance. Countless Quasi-Saints covet this item. If you keep it, it can only bring disaster. It would be better to hand the Hongmeng Purple Qi over to me, so that you can avoid a major calamity,” the Minghe Ancestor stated coldly.
“Ha ha.”
Suddenly, Ye Xuan laughed. His laughter was wild, and then he squinted at the Minghe Ancestor and said, “Not to mention that I don’t have the Hongmeng Purple Qi, even if it were truly on my person, based on the words you have spoken today, am I to take it that you are threatening me?”
“Threatening?”
The Minghe Ancestor smirked darkly, staring straight at Ye Xuan, “I do not mean to threaten you, Daoist. I am simply stating a fact.”
While speaking, the Minghe Ancestor slowly rose from his seat and strolled through the Turquoise Pool. Suddenly turning back to look at Ye Xuan, a sly smile played across his lips.
“If you must believe the Ancestor is threatening you, then I have nothing more to say. However, I hope you understand that if you do not lend me the Hongmeng Purple Qi today, I’m afraid you won’t find it easy to see me leave.”
A blatant threat with not the slightest attempt to mask it.
The Minghe Ancestor’s words were sharp, filled with hidden barbs. He had anticipated that Ye Xuan would deny having the Hongmeng Purple Qi and had made preparations accordingly.
“Minghe, it seems you really haven’t put me in your eyes.”
Ye Xuan rose from his imperial throne and walked towards the Minghe Ancestor, stopping only a zhang away, but a murderous aura locked onto the Minghe Ancestor.
“Ha ha.”
Sensing Ye Xuan’s killing intent, the Minghe Ancestor showed no apprehension but instead laughed loudly, “Ye Xuan, I have given you ample respect. Do you truly believe you could be a match for me?”
“The Blood Sea will not dry, Minghe will never die?”
Ye Xuan’s eyes narrowed as he uttered these eight words, and the Minghe Ancestor responded with a cold laugh, a smug look flashing across his eyes.
It wasn’t that the Minghe Ancestor was arrogant without reason, but rather he had the capital to be so. He could feel the immensity of Ye Xuan’s cultivation, which placed a tremendous pressure on him, causing great astonishment within.
It was unthinkable that in just tens of thousands of years, Ye Xuan’s cultivation could have improved so terrifyingly, which seemed a tale of fables.
Unfortunately, the Minghe Ancestor held no fear for Ye Xuan, for he was an Undying being. Should a great battle ensue, it was only Ye Xuan who would be defeated and forced to flee.
“Ye Xuan, not is you alone, even if a Saint attempted to kill me, it would be no easy feat. Hand over the Hongmeng Purple Qi; you cannot safeguard it.”
The Minghe Ancestor did not wish to fight with Ye Xuan, as he had come to the Heavenly Court for the Hongmeng Purple Qi. Even if he could defeat Ye Xuan, it was inconsequential to him.
“Ye Xuan, in the past when you ascended to the throne of the Heavenly Emperor, I too had sent you three Blood God Fruits. There is a connection between us. I hope you will hand over the Hongmeng Purple Qi. When the day comes for the Ancestor to become a Saint, I will certainly not forget the kindness you show today.” The Minghe Ancestor combined threats with entreaties, his eyes burning intensely as he gazed at Ye Xuan.
“Minghe, do you honestly think I cannot kill you?”
Boom!
The world shook, and the heavens trembled; boundless darkness covered the sky, while Chaos Mysterious Fog swirled through the Heavenly Court. A sliver of bloody cold light illuminated the entire Heavenly Vault as a mighty Big Halberd slowly emerged, stretching across the sky.
Ye Xuan’s eyes narrowed slightly, and his gaze turned icy. The Heavenly Punishment Halberd was shaking the heavens, radiating an aura of ancient and ferocious evil, as if all beings were destined to be buried and destroyed beneath this halberd.
“What is this…?”
As the Heavenly Punishment Halberd appeared, the smile on Minghe Ancestor’s face disappeared, and his expression instantly turned grave. He felt a slight tremble in his spirit, a sensation that had never before occurred within him, as if he were being targeted by an incredibly terrifying creature, ready to swallow him whole the next moment.
“A Chaos Divine Artifact?”
“No… impossible… How could something from the legends possibly exist?”
Minghe Ancestor roared within his heart, his eyes fixed and his mind stirring up tumultuous waves.
As long as the Blood Sea was not dry, Minghe would not die; this signified the terror of the Minghe Ancestor, naturally making him invincible.
But familiarity breeds understanding, and the Minghe Ancestor was well aware that everything in heaven and earth had its nemesis; nothing truly undying could exist, not even Saints were immune to the threat of demise.
The Netherworld Blood Sea was said to be transformed from the corrupt blood of the Pangu God. He was formed in the early primordial times, and if you traced his lineage, he could be considered a descendant of the Pangu God, though not widely recognized by the beings of the Three Realms.
To kill him, a Saint would have to annihilate his Netherworld Blood Sea, leading to his own downfall. Yet, as the Blood Sea was endless, even a single drop could resurrect him.
Nonetheless, all laws have their counters, and he was not truly immortal. If a Saint resolved to kill him, he too faced the risk of total annihilation.
Besides Saints, there was one other thing capable of truly killing him, and that was a Chaos Divine Artifact, a thing not of the Three Realms but from beyond the heavens.
Legend had it that the Pangu God was born from Chaos, himself being a being from within Chaos. The mysterious beyond held many terrifying things, which were called Chaos Divine Artifacts. If he ever encountered the wrath of a Chaos Divine Artifact, then Minghe’s death would be inevitable.
It was the Minghe’s sole weakness. Witnessing the Heavenly Punishment Halberd, the Minghe Ancestor’s spirit trembled, and he had a faint suspicion that this Heavenly Punishment Halberd might indeed be a Chaos Artifact of legend.
“It can’t be, how could another Chaos Divine Artifact exist in this world, aside from Donghuang Taiyi’s Donghuang Bell?”
Minghe Ancestor’s face turned ashen as he bellowed at Ye Xuan, obviously shaken by the Heavenly Punishment Halberd, now showing great wariness in his eyes.
If there was anyone that Minghe Ancestor feared besides Saints, it was the Demon Race’s Donghuang Taiyi, for Donghuang Taiyi’s Donghuang Bell was a Chaos Divine Artifact, also known as the Chaos Bell.
However, Minghe Ancestor never expected that Ye Xuan, who he thought he had under control, would possess something that resembled a Chaos Divine Artifact. This left him in a predicament.
At this moment.
Ye Xuan’s expression was grim as his gaze toward Minghe Ancestor flickered with a hint of murderous intent. If he could truly kill Minghe Ancestor here, it would serve as a warning to the other Quasi-Saints, saving him a great deal of trouble.
Killing Minghe, Ye Xuan entertained the thought, serving as a warning to the Quasi-Saints, deterring them from rashly approaching the Heavenly Court to demand the Hongmeng Purple Qi.
But Ye Xuan wasn’t certain that the Heavenly Punishment Halberd could truly kill Minghe Ancestor; he only felt halfway confident.
When Ye Xuan had seized the throne of Heavenly Emperor, he had used the Heavenly Punishment Halberd to nail the Jade Emperor to the South Heavenly Gate. The Jade Emperor, connected to the fortune of the Heavenly Court and said to be undying and with the support of the Heavenly Dao Dragon Qi, had also perished, soul scattering under the Halberd.
Ye Xuan’s killing intent came quickly and left just as fast. Under Minghe Ancestor’s astonished gaze, Ye Xuan retracted the Heavenly Punishment Halberd, choosing not to battle Minghe Ancestor.
Clearly, whether or not Ye Xuan could kill Minghe, the benefit to him was too insignificant. Considering Minghe Ancestor’s high Cultivation, if a great battle ensued, even if he could kill Minghe, he would also suffer great damage himself.
Moreover, with the Ancient Demon Court opening the Demon Gathering in ten thousand years, how would he be able to withstand the Ancient Demon Court if he were gravely injured?
This was certainly not the outcome Ye Xuan desired.
