Chapter 642 - 642 661 Discussing Taoism while Sitting
642: Chapter 661 Discussing Taoism while Sitting 642: Chapter 661 Discussing Taoism while Sitting Lingshan’s North Peak was desolate and uninhabited, with an endless azure sea of clouds steaming and wafting, surrounded by strands of five-colored radiance in the midst of the cloud sea, creating a breathtakingly magnificent sight.
At the summit of North Peak Mountain.
The little girl, nestled in Ye Xuan’s arms, was sound asleep, her small body radiating golden light while strands of the utmost Yin and evil qi dissipated into the void.
What was once a gaunt body was gradually becoming plump.
“The Twelve-Grade Merit Golden Lotus is a Heavenly Creation Spiritual Treasure, which nurtures the creation of life force.
Having consumed a Merit Lotus Seed, this child’s body is now fully healed, and there’s no need for Daoist to worry,” said Sun Wukong, seated in meditation atop the mountain peak, his voice calm as he spoke to Ye Xuan.
“The world often says Sun Wukong is someone who defies the law and nature, arrogant and indomitable.
But today, I see you, Daoist, as kind and composed; it seems the world’s rumors cannot be trusted,” Ye Xuan said with a slight squint of his eyes.
Sun Wukong smiled gently, raised one finger to the sky, and then shook his head at Ye Xuan, saying, “This Heaven and Earth is like a chessboard, and all beings are like chess pieces.
We all exist within Heaven and Earth, so isn’t the idea of defying the law and nature a joke?”
“You’re not Sun Wukong!” Ye Xuan whispered.
As Ye Xuan’s words fell, Sun Wukong’s originally serene face showed a moment of astonishment, and a complex expression flashed in his eyes as he looked at Ye Xuan and said, “If Daoist says I’m not Sun Wukong, then who am I?”
“Have you ever heard a saying?” Ye Xuan asked, answering with a question.
“Please enlighten me, Daoist,” Sun Wukong said softly.
“Territories may change, but one’s nature is hard to alter!”
“Although I have never met Sun Wukong, I do understand him.
In the past, he shattered the Palace of the Polestar.
Rather than becoming an Immortal or a Buddha in the Lower Realm, he chose to be a Demon King, and he never bowed down to the myriad Heavenly Immortals and Buddhas.
A person’s character may change, but those things ingrained in the marrow can never be altered.”
“Tell me, are you really Sun Wukong?”
Ye Xuan’s voice grew ever calmer, but it was filled with certainty because he truly trusted his own judgment.
A person, no matter how much they change, cannot alter those traits that are deep in their bones.
Take Ye Xuan himself: He could be very kind to the little girl in his arms and genuinely lament Uncle Zhuo’s death.
But his heart was always cold, and even ruthless to the extreme.
To put it bluntly, if these grandparents and grandchild were to impede his path forward, he would not hesitate to wield his butcher’s knife and slay them on the spot.
In observing others, Ye Xuan could see himself very clearly, so he naturally couldn’t believe that the once mighty Great Sage Equalling Heaven, a peerless individual who defied the law and nature and never regarded the myriad Heavenly Immortals and Buddhas, would now be as benevolent and kind as an old monk.
Silence!
An extreme, profound silence.
Sun Wukong silently gazed at Ye Xuan, his body trembling slightly, his breath erratic, as a hint of helplessness and self-mockery deepened in his eyes.
“You are not me; you can’t understand what I’ve been through, nor can you know why I’ve become what I am today,” Sun Wukong uttered somberly, locking his gaze onto Ye Xuan, a sharpness flashing across his eyes.
Ye Xuan did not avoid Sun Wukong’s stare, instead curling the corners of his mouth into a slight smile and saying, “Although I don’t know what you’ve been through, if you can’t even be yourself, then what’s the difference between that and being dead?”
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Like the ringing of morning bells and dusk drums, like thunder from the Nine Heavens, Ye Xuan’s words kept exploding in Sun Wukong’s mind, leaving him speechless and stunned, while the Buddha Light around him became extremely chaotic.
“Heh heh heh!”
Suddenly, an unrestrained, wild laughter erupted from within Sun Wukong, as an aura that was both demon-like and devilish pervaded from around him.
“I, the Great One, am a joke!
Even this youngster here understands this principle, yet you still insist on suppressing me.
You are the epitome of stupidity,” came a voice.
“Shut up!”
Sun Wukong’s complexion drastically changed, and from his mouth he recited Buddhist chants.
A horrific Buddha Light surged out, while a painful groan emanated from within him.
“Who is he?”
Ye Xuan’s eyes slightly narrowed, the Heavenly Emperor’s Dharma Eye thunderously rotated as if trying to see through who exactly resided within Sun Wukong.
Suddenly!
A blinding brilliance forced Ye Xuan to squint his eyes, yet he still caught a glimpse of a figure within Sun Wukong.
A monkey with golden fur, its visage ferocious and terrifying, radiating an aura of the utmost demon-like and devilish light, roared angrily within Sun Wukong’s body.
Its shining, vicious fangs emitted a chilling brightness; its fierce eyes burst forth with a bloodthirsty gleam.
It also bore an unruly and defiant demeanor, fearlessly confronting Ye Xuan within Sun Wukong’s body.
Golden chains wound around the demonic monkey.
No matter how it screamed and roared, it could not break free of the chains.
Yet, the demonically devilish aura exploded wildly around its body, and within those fierce eyes there shone a resolve to battle against the heavens.
“Amitabha!”
With his hands clasped together, Sun Wukong intoned sutras as the heavens and void rumbled.
This caused Ye Xuan to instantly shift his gaze, his eyes filled with immense surprise and suspicion.
“Do you see it?”
Sun Wukong’s complexion was grave as he stared intently at Ye Xuan.
A round of Buddha Light quietly veiled the North Peak of Lingshan, as a dense and oppressive aura began to descend upon Ye Xuan.
“Do you want to fight me?”
Boom!
Daluo Immortal Light erupted in all directions, the fabric of space-time in heaven and earth slightly warped, while strands of Chaos Mysterious Fog entwined around Ye Xuan’s body.
A blood moon mark flickered on his forehead, and a momentum capable of destroying heaven and earth burst forth in that moment.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, Sun Wukong’s aura receded as he exhaled a breath of turbid air, and the surrounding Buddha Light once again dissipated, restoring him to calmness.
However, his gaze towards Ye Xuan grew exceedingly complex.
Ye Xuan’s presence subsided, and he too returned to a state of calm.
The two sat opposite each other, their gazes intertwining in the void, causing the surrounding heaven and earth to twist slightly.
“Do you know that, if I had wished to kill you just now, your soul would have already scattered, and you would be dead?” After a good ten breaths’ time, Sun Wukong spoke in a deep voice.
“Although you are a Quasi-Saint, you cannot kill me,” Ye Xuan said calmly.
“True, you walk the path of Proving Dao with Power, and your Daluo Immortal Body is nearly at Great Success.
Indeed, it would be somewhat difficult for me to kill you,” Sun Wukong slowly nodded.
“Hm?”
As Sun Wukong’s words fell, Ye Xuan was startled.
He had never expected the other to discern that he cultivated the way of Proving Dao with Power.
You must know that apart from the Heavenly Sect Master and that fleeting glance from Hong Jun, no one else had been able to identify his cultivation method.
Yet, Sun Wukong had seen through it at first sight, which astounded Ye Xuan immensely.
“Are you curious how I could tell that you follow the method of Proving Dao with Power?”
Sun Wukong smiled faintly, his eyes seeming elusive.
“Before ascending to a Quasi-Saint, I practiced the art of Proving Dao with Power.”
“What?”
Ye Xuan’s expression dramatically altered, and his previously composed demeanor vanished.
