Chapter 637 - 637 656 Setting Foot on Lingshan

637: Chapter 656: Setting Foot on Lingshan 637: Chapter 656: Setting Foot on Lingshan “Your grandfather has gone to a very distant place, and I’ll take you to find him.

Will you follow Brother Ye?” Ye Xuan heaved a sigh, rubbing the young girl’s dry, yellowish hair, his voice deep and low.

“Can Brother Ye really take me to see Grandpa?” The little girl pursed her lips, forcefully holding back her tears, yet clear droplets still rolled down her cheeks.

“Brother Ye won’t lie to you.

Once I’ve cured your illness, I will take you to find your grandfather.”

Ye Xuan raised his hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of the little girl’s eyes, took her small hand, and began to walk toward the Western direction.

Beneath the moonlight, their shadows, one large and one small, stretched out even longer.

Western Lingshan, The Thunderclap Monastery.

Auspicious qi spiraled in thousands of tendrils, Buddha Light filled the sky, and rumbling chants of Zen echoed from the celestial vacuum.

Duobao Tathagata sat cross-legged atop the Golden Lotus, with the Great Sun Buddha Light whirling ceaselessly behind him, his face carrying an expression of boundless compassion.

“Please, Buddha, stand up for me and seek justice for my husband and child.”

Princess Iron Fan prostrated on the ground, incessantly bowing to Duobao Tathagata, her voice breaking with sobs, which caused the Bodhisattvas Buddha from the Eight Directions to frown in observation.

“Princess Iron Fan, you claim Ye Xuan killed your husband and child, which is simply preposterous.

You know Ye Xuan is the Three Realms Emperor.

How could he possibly appear in the Western Continent?” Maitreya Buddha whispered.

“What Princess Iron Fan says is absolutely true.

If the Venerables and Bodhisattvas do not believe it, they may go there and see for themselves,” Princess Iron Fan said bitterly, her face filled with hope as she looked toward Duobao Tathagata.

“Amitabha.”

Duobao Tathagata pressed his palms together, intoning the Buddha’s name aloud: “Princess Iron Fan, if it truly was Ye Xuan who killed your husband and child, then why would his nature allow him to spare you?”

“Buddha, I…!”

Princess Iron Fan clenched her teeth, but found herself unable to speak any further.

She realized that Western Lingshan had no intention of avenging her deceased husband and child.

No matter how she pleaded, Duobao Tathagata would not confront Ye Xuan.

Cling—Clang—Clang!

Suddenly, a succession of eighty-one bell tolls resonated throughout Lingshan, causing Duobao Tathagata’s expression to shift.

He abruptly looked toward the distant horizon.

Boom, boom, boom!

Daluo Immortal Light covered the sky and shrouded the land, the Heavenly Vault teemed with moving clouds spanning thousands of miles, and an imposing figure was making his way toward Lingshan, his momentum shaking mountains and rivers with a terrifying force.

“Amitabha!”

Duobao Tathagata furrowed his brows, his palms pressed together as he chanted the Buddha’s name aloud: “What brings Heavenly Emperor Ye and his Magic Chariot to Lingshan?”

Above the Heavenly Vault, amidst the void,

Ye Xuan strolled through Changtian to his destination, until he stood within The Thunderclap Monastery.

The gaze of various Bodhisattvas Buddha converged on him, wondering what the Heavenly Emperor Ye intended by coming to Lingshan.

However, what surprised the Buddhas of Lingshan the most was that following Ye Xuan was a little girl who cowered behind him, quietly observing the Bodhisattvas Buddha from all sides.

“Ye Xuan?”

Ye Xuan’s arrival directly made Princess Iron Fan rise abruptly, her eyes turning crimson in an instant, radiating an ineffable hatred.

Had glares been able to kill, Ye Xuan would have already died millions of times over.

“Princess Iron Fan, you must not be rude.

Stand down at once!”

Duobao Tathagata frowned.

As soon as Ye Xuan appeared, he had believed Princess Iron Fan’s words, but he would never inconvenience Ye Xuan for her sake.

He knew full well the importance of both matters.

Ye Xuan wasn’t surprised to find Princess Iron Fan at Lingshan.

After all, he had killed the Bull Demon King and Red Boy, and she had nowhere else to turn for help but Lingshan.

However, his visit today to The Thunderclap Monastery, with the young girl in tow, was not to pursue Princess Iron Fan.

“Duobao, I don’t wish to mince words.

I need to borrow three Merit Lotus Seeds from you,” Ye Xuan stated his request directly, without a hint of subtlety.

Silence, absolute silence.

As Ye Xuan’s words fell, an eerie quiet befell The Thunderclap Monastery, and the Bodhisattva Buddhas all turned their gazes toward him, their eyes filled with shock.

There are four great lotus platforms between Heaven and Earth, each with twelve grades: the Merit Golden Lotus, the Karma Red Lotus, the Destructive Black Lotus, and the Green Lotus of Creation.

The Twelve-Grade Green Lotus of Creation was obtained by Hong Jun, the Primordial Venerate, who gave it to one of The Three Pure Ones, Yuanshi Tianzun.

The Twelve-Grade Karma Red Lotus belonged to the Minghe Ancestor, unbreakable as he sat upon the lotus platform, burning karma into karmic fire, formidable in both attack and defense.

The Twelve-Grade Destructive Black Lotus was possessed by Demon Ancestor Luo Hou, unbreakable as he sat on the lotus platform, able to absorb the violent destructive energy, filled with the power of all beings’ grievances, extremely terrifying.

The Twelve-Grade Merit Golden Lotus was achieved by the Daoist Jieyin and later bestowed upon Duobao Tathagata.

It is the spiritual fortuity object of the Western Sect and the supreme treasure of the Western Lingshan’s The Thunderclap Monastery.

At this moment, Ye Xuan was asking Duobao Tathagata for three Merit Lotus Seeds, which was an utterly unreasonable demand.

It would also degrade the quality of the Merit Golden Lotus.

How could Duobao Tathagata agree to Ye Xuan’s request?

“Om Mani Padme Hum!”

As expected, Duobao Tathagata’s expression turned cold as he said in a deep voice, “Heavenly Emperor Ye, the Twelve-Grade Merit Golden Lotus is a treasure of Lingshan.

Though it is but three Merit Lotus Seeds, I must decline your request.”

“You are mistaken.

I am not asking you; I am commanding you.

Today you will lend them whether you are willing or not.”

Ye Xuan’s eyes slightly narrowed, and his voice echoed through The Thunderclap Monastery.

His Heavenly Emperor’s authority gradually unfolded, causing Duobao Tathagata’s face to darken like water, and a round of Great Sun Buddha Light burst forth behind him.

“Heavenly Emperor Ye, our Lingshan and the Heavenly Court do not overstep each other’s boundaries.

I hope you will reconsider,” Duobao Tathagata spoke with gravity, a flash of cold light crossing his eyes as he opened and closed them, his gaze toward Ye Xuan becoming extremely unfriendly.

In other places, Duobao Tathagata might have yielded to Ye Xuan, aware that Ye Xuan’s combat power defied the heavens, and today’s Thirty-Three Layered Heaven was not what it used to be.

He couldn’t afford to offend him.

But now, with Ye Xuan standing at his doorstep, if he were to bow to Ye Xuan, wouldn’t he, the Buddha of the West, become the laughingstock of all beings in the Three Realms?

The key problem was that the Twelve-Grade Merit Golden Lotus was a treasure of the West.

If he truly gave Ye Xuan three Merit Lotus Seeds, the Merit Golden Lotus would suffer imperfections, and its quality would decline.

If the Western Two Saints took issue with this, the responsibility would be too great for Duobao Tathagata to bear.

“Brother Ye, let’s go.”

The young girl quietly tugged at Ye Xuan’s sleeve, her faint voice resonating in his ear.

Clearly, the sight of the Western Buddhas, these legendary figures, had overwhelmed her young mind.

The young girl had silently followed Ye Xuan throughout; she didn’t know who exactly Ye Xuan was, only that her “Brother Ye” was highly capable and had promised to help find her grandfather.

Yet today, Ye Xuan brought her to Lingshan where she witnessed the Buddhas and even saw the legendary Buddha yield three points to Ye Xuan.

It made the young girl realize that her “Brother Ye” surely had an extraordinary background.
