Chapter 485 - 485 494 Doushuai Temple

485: Chapter 494: Doushuai Temple 485: Chapter 494: Doushuai Temple Thirty-Three Heavens, Doushuai Temple.

Aside from Hong Jun, the Daoist Ancestor, among the six great Saints, the strongest is the Hierarch of the Human Sect, Laozi, known as Daode Tianzun, with The Three Pure Ones deferring to him as their leader.

There’s a widely spread anecdote about Laozi becoming a Saint.

Before Laozi had attained his Dao, he happened upon farmland one day and on a whim asked a farmer a question.

Laozi said, “How high is the sky, how wide is the earth?”

The farmer replied, “Nine zhang for the sky, five mu for the earth.”

Laozi wondered with amazement, “The vast sky and earth, could they truly be of such a size?”

The farmer chuckled heartily, “When I look up, there’s the nine zhang sky; when I bow my head, that’s the five mu of arable land.

This is my heaven and earth.”

Laozi was astonished and suddenly saw the light, paying the farmer three deep bows in appreciation.

Upon this sudden enlightenment, Laozi attained the Dao, rode on a green ox, passed through Han Valley, with a purple aura that stretched thirty thousand li.

Moreover, he vowed a great and profound oath to establish the Human Sect, eventually becoming the first Saint after Hong Jun.

In Doushuai Temple, there was a Daoist known as Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, arguably one of the incarnations of Laozi, who took over sustaining the Heavenly Court in Laozi’s stead, assisting the Heavenly Emperor in managing the Three Realms.

There are also legends claiming that Lord Lao Zi is the Good Corpse that Laozi turned into after failing to attain Sainthood by Cutting Three Corpses.

However, this tale is too ethereal to be taken as truth.

As everyone knows, there are Thirty-Three Heavens in the Heavenly Court, with Dou Niu Palace and Lingxiao Palace located in the Thirty-Second Heaven, where the Heavenly Emperor presides.

As for this Thirty-Third Heaven, it is Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad’s dojo—Doushuai Temple.

When it comes to Doushuai Temple in the Three Realms, it’s known far and wide, and there is no being that does not know of its existence.

Nine Revolutions Daluo Golden Pills, Jade Liquid Marrow-Cleansing Golden Pills, Life Creation Pills—anyone of these elixirs, if presented, could make a mortal ascend to immortality on the spot and even significantly enhance an Immortal’s cultivation.

If Doushuai Temple can be called the Heavenly Court’s forbidden ground, it would be more apt to describe Doushuai Temple as the Heavenly Court’s greatest treasure trove.

Of course, countless individuals from the celestial, mortal, and demonic realms covet the elixirs within Doushuai Temple, but after an endless passage of time, aside from that monkey who once devoured a substantial quantity of elixirs under the deliberate arrangement of a Saint, no one else has been able to casually enter Doushuai Temple.

That’s because Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad presides within Doushuai Temple, and as he is, after all, an incarnation of the Saintly Laozi, unless someone is tired of living, who would dare to rashly intrude upon Doushuai Temple?

Thirty-Three Heavens.

Antique palaces, vast and boundless, auspicious qi fluttering in thousands of strands, Immortal Light nurturing life, clouds adrift amidst the Thirty-Three Heavens.

There, a grand and towering palace stands, seemingly hidden and visible at once.

A white jade staircase with ninety-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine steps leads directly to Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad’s Doushuai Temple.

Amidst the swirling mists, a tall and straight figure is slowly climbing.

Thump—thump—thump.

Ye Xuan, taking one step at a time, is treading on the white jade staircase, moving forward.

With each step he takes, a hint of Daoist intonation emanates from beneath his feet, as if he, at this moment, merges with heaven and earth, exuding an air as if the Dao is naturally with him.

“The Great Dao has fifty, heavens deviate with forty-nine,” under the operation of the Heavenly Dao, there is always a sliver of chance left, and I, Ye Xuan, am that elusive one, the greatest variable in the Three Realms.

Strictly speaking, Doushuai Temple is just up ahead, and Ye Xuan does not need to trouble himself with climbing these white jade stairs.

However, since Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad is an incarnation of the Saintly Laozi, since he is visiting in person, it’s only right to show the utmost respect.

Ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine white jade steps were swiftly traversed, and the Doushuai Temple loomed faintly in the swirling clouds, with two Daoist children standing on either side of the grand entrance, smiling at Ye Xuan.

“Greetings to Heavenly Emperor Ye.”

As Ye Xuan strolled up to the Doushuai Temple, the two Daoist children bowed with clasped hands as if they had known of his arrival and showed no surprise.

Luotian Golden Immortal?

The two Daoist children, with their charming, delicate features, seemed very likeable, yet Ye Xuan realized their cultivation levels at a glance, which made him all the more curious about Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad.

If even the two young gatekeepers were Luotian Golden Immortals, then what level of cultivation did Lord Lao Zi within the Doushuai Temple possess?

Daluo Third Water Dividing Ridge?

Or…

could it be that legendary rank of Quasi-Saint?

“Our forefather has been waiting inside the hall for a long time, Heavenly Emperor, please,” said the two Daoist children with a smile.

The grand doors of the Doushuai Temple also rumbled open at this moment, and a rich fragrance of elixirs wafted out.

Ye Xuan nodded, cast aside the doubts in his mind, and strode into the Doushuai Temple.

Regardless of whether Lord Lao Zi was at the Daluo Third Water Dividing Ridge or the fabled Quasi-Saint rank, his visit today was imperative because he would not allow any uncertainties to remain within the Heavenly Court.

Plainly speaking, since Ye Xuan had ascended to the position of Heavenly Emperor, he could not permit someone to sleep soundly beside his couch.

Lord Lao Zi was like a hanging sword above his head, a threat that had to be resolved.

Inside the Doushuai Temple.

A pill furnace with a transparent flame burned brightly, its base ablaze with roaring fire, extremely intense.

Even as Ye Xuan entered the temple, the searing heat touched his soul, proving that the fire roasting the pill furnace was no ordinary flame.

Around the temple, rows of Purple Gold Gourds were suspended in the void, with flecks of Golden Light Immortal energy steaming above them.

Clearly, they contained unimaginable Golden Elxirs.

An extremely profound Eight Diagram Array was engraved in the void, its intersecting lines steeped in mystery.

An aged Daoist with white hair sat on a meditation cushion with eyes closed as if immersed in deep meditation.

With hands clasped behind his back, Ye Xuan gazed at the old Daoist from afar.

When his eyes flickered open, a flash of cold light stealthily passed from the depths of his gaze.

Without a doubt, this old Daoist was the legendary Lord Lao Zi, also the embodiment of the Saint Laozi.

Very powerful, utterly inscrutable was his level of cultivation; that was Ye Xuan’s feeling at the moment.

What made Ye Xuan feel even more grave was that although Lord Lao Zi sat suspended in the void, revealing no might, Ye Xuan’s Undying Primordial Spirit trembled, sending him a signal of danger.

“You have arrived!”

Profound and weighty, gentle yet hoarse, Lord Lao Zi slowly opened his eyes and with a light sweep of his horsetail whisk, a cushion gently appeared before Ye Xuan.

“Please take your seat, Heavenly Emperor.”

Ye Xuan sat down on the cushion in meditation posture and remained silent, for he knew that having killed the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother, Lord Lao Zi must have long been aware.

Since Lord Lao Zi had not intervened, it indirectly acknowledged Ye Xuan’s ascension to the Heavenly Emperor’s throne, and he was also aware of what he had come to do in the Doushuai Temple today.

“With the upheaval in the Three Realms, a change of heaven and earth, Heavenly Emperor Ye is born to carry out the Heavenly Dao, to consider the safety of the Three Realms.

Only then can you share longevity with Heaven and Earth and forever enjoy the fruit of the Heavenly Emperor’s position,” said Lord Lao Zi in a warm voice.

“It is said that Saint Laozi once wished to emulate Hong Jun and become a Saint by Cutting Three Corpses but, unfortunately, did not succeed.

The Good Corpse he severed became Lord Lao Zi.

I wonder if this is true or false?” Ye Xuan said, slightly narrowing his eyes.

Following Ye Xuan’s words, Lord Lao Zi was slightly taken aback, contemplating as he looked at Ye Xuan, then smiled and said, “There is a saying, three men make a tiger, the many mouths that melt gold.

A thing might be false, but in the retelling, it becomes true.”
