Chapter 501: Isabella Harrington’s Sneaky Moves

Dominic on the other hand, was trying to maintain his composure, but you could see the cracks forming like watching a dam about to burst during hurricane season. "That’s... that’s a touching story, Luciano, but business is business, and the reality is—"

"The reality," the old man cut him off with the kind of verbal precision that could perform surgery, "is that you just found out my family has been under the protection of beings that make your worst nightmares look like fucking Disney movies.

"The reality is that the woman who saved my life, who made everything I’ve built possible, is the mother of the young man my granddaughter loves. The reality is that your ’partnership offer’ just became about as relevant as a chocolate teapot in a volcano. The reality is we’re now at war. I might have let the Morellos go but not when my entire family and my granddaughter is threatened."

Parker tried not to laugh because watching corporate titans destroy each other with words was honestly better entertainment than anything Hollywood had produced in years.

Annabelle chose that moment to examine her nails like she was considering whether they needed a touch-up, completely unbothered by the verbal warfare happening around her.

"This is taking forever," she said with the kind of casual dismissal that could make gods question their life choices. "Can we skip to the part where they realize they’re fucked and go home to cry into their overpriced whiskey?" Oh, right this was their home. Sure, saves them trouble...

Even cosmic beings got bored by corporate drama, apparently.

"Young lady," Dominic snapped, his media empire authority fully engaged and absolutely livid, "you will show some respect—"

"Respect?" Annabelle’s laugh could cut through steel and probably make angels weep with its pure devastating beauty. "Dude, your son just got yeeted across a ballroom by someone (me) who wasn’t even trying, your ’business proposition’ just got exposed as extortion with extra steps, and you’re still here acting like you have any leverage left. That’s not confidence, that’s just sad."

’The girl has absolutely zero chill, and everyone there was living for it.’ Parker sighed but didn’t say anything, Annabelle always had a way to add comedic reliefs even in the most serious and dangerous situations.

’And I kind of like her for that...’

[Don’t like her yet, Master, not until we finish Scarlet Draven.]

"Look who the cat dragged in," Parker snorted at her presence.

[First off, the only cat here is far from where I am, with Annabelle, two I didn’t know you miss me this much to pout whenever I disappear.]

"Fuck off, Levi."

Thomas Wilder stepped forward at that time, his face carrying the kind of fury that had been building pressure for weeks like a volcano getting ready to redecorate the landscape. "You want to talk about respect, Ashford? Let’s talk about how you threatened my daughter. How you used my father’s health as leverage. How you turned what we thought had been a family celebration into some kind of corporate shakedown."

[Poor lad, didn’t know his daughter was being threatened until this.]

The man looked like he was ready to start throwing hands with billionaires.

"That’s business," Dominic replied, but his voice was starting to sound like someone who’d realized he brought a water gun to a nuclear war. "Strategic positioning. Market advantage."

"That’s extortion, pendejo," Isabella Harrington called out from the crowd, her voice carrying the kind of authority that came from running military contracts and probably knowing where several bodies were buried. "And honestly? Pretty fucking amateur extortion at that."

[Wait, Master, is she making her presence known to you. Woah, perks for being handsome, devastatingly so, while powerful as hell to.]

"Seems to be the case, and I can’t refuses what’s served on silver platter, can I now?"

[Tessa, Maya...] Levi laughed.

Even the other family heads were turning on the Ashfords now. This was turning into a straight-up execution.

Alessandro Morello nodded approvingly like he was watching a masterclass in how to completely destroy someone’s reputation in public. "The Morellos have always respected the Wilders," he said with the kind of diplomatic smoothness that somehow sounded more threatening than direct insults.

"And we certainly respect anyone under Nyxlith protection. Perhaps the Ashfords should reconsider their... approach."

Translation: "You fucked up, and now everyone knows it. So, we will all side with the dangerously powerful and rich."

Grandfather Wilder smiled with the kind of expression that could make sharks nervous and probably intimidate natural disasters into finding somewhere else to happen.

"So, here’s what’s going to happen, Dominic. You’re going to take your son, your bruised ego, and your failed business proposition, and you’re going to ever step into my family’s affairs not even my family’s celebration. You’re going to go home, pour yourself a very expensive drink, and you’re going to think long and hard about why trying to extort people under cosmic protection was maybe not your smartest move. And we’re at war!"

The old man was delivering this verbal beatdown like he was reading someone the most devastating bedtime story ever written.

"And if you ever—and I mean ever—come near my granddaughter again with your manipulative bullshit, you’re going to discover exactly what kind of protection the Nyxliths provide to people they care about. And trust me, cabrón, you really don’t want that kind of education."

Aleric looked like he was about to cry, and honestly, it was both pathetic and hilarious.

[Sweet although disappointing to what we had envisioned tit to be back when you just learnt about these families.]

Parker nodded fighting back a grin that would probably crack his face in half, because watching his girlfriend’s grandfather absolutely demolish corporate titans with nothing but words and cosmic backing was honestly the best entertainment he’d had in years.

The pendant in old man’s hands seemed to pulse with approval, like even the damn jewelry was enjoying the show.

"Mom really had planned this perfectly. Even the dramatic timing was chef’s kiss."

[I agree, but I’m starting to think you of mummy’s...]

"I dare you to finish it, Levi!"

"This is..." Dominic started, but his voice trailed off like he was finally realizing that words like "unacceptable" and "business practices" didn’t really apply when you were dealing with forces that treated reality like a rough draft.

"This is what happens when you fuck around and find out," Tessa said sweetly, her smile bright enough to power small cities but carrying the kind of satisfaction that came from watching bullies get their comeuppance in the most public way possible. "Maybe next time, don’t threaten people’s families? Just a thought."

The girl had her grandfather’s savage streak, and Parker was absolutely here for it.
