Chapter 454: Chapter 474: Why Do I Feel Like I’m Being Watched? _1
"Stop!"
Han Xuehai frowned and stopped Han Xuemei, saying gravely, "Regardless of the reason, we are all in the same boat now, we should help each other. We haven’t even started exploring yet, and if we fight each other first and end up hurting both sides, wouldn’t that make our opponents laugh their heads off?"
Pausing for a moment, Han Xuehai glared at Han Xuemei and said, "Whether the life-extending item exists or not is still unknown. Is it worth fighting over?"
"Keep moving!"
Lin Chen set off with a calm expression, as everything in the Underground City was filled with unknowns. In this situation, sticking together was obviously the best temporary strategy.
Before the Han Family members did anything excessive, Lin Chen would abide by the agreement previously proposed by Han Xuehai. After all, Lin Chen was recommended by Han Xuecheng, and he didn’t want to put him in an awkward position by causing conflict with the Han Family Team.
The group traveled some distance in the wilderness and arrived at a small village. The five of them carefully entered the village, looking around in amazement.
There were blue brick and tile houses and mud wall and straw houses. The architectural style was not much different from what the people knew, but in some minor details of the buildings, one could see some unique designs. Upon closer inspection, it seemed as if these were carvings of fierce beasts, but no one could discern what kind they were.
Han Xuegong looked around at the houses: "It seems that there is also a wealth gap in this Unknown Land. Some people live in blue brick houses with courtyards, while others live in mud wall and straw houses. This village looks just like the ones we usually see, except it has a bit more of an ancient feel and lacks modern elements like steel and glass."
Han Xuehai strode forward and casually replied, "Where there are people, there are gaps between the rich and the poor and classes. It’s been this way since ancient times, and there’s no escape from it."
The group entered a nearby blue brick house and started a room-by-room search.
"Is this table and chair set made of thousand-year-old Phoebe wood?"
Han Shude touched the dusty table and chairs and exclaimed, "If this set were sold outside, it could make a fortune..."
Han Shude’s eyes fell on the calligraphy and paintings hanging on the wall, and they lit up, "Good calligraphy! Good paintings! In such a small village, someone can write such beautiful characters and paint such nice pictures!"
Han Xuemei asked casually, "Are they worth a lot of money?"
Han Shude laughed, "If you want to talk about value, there isn’t a brick or tile in here that isn’t valuable. These calligraphy and paintings are of course valuable. Even with an unknown origin, selling one painting in Xijing City could easily get a house."
Han Xuemei’s eyes lit up, "Should we take them with us?"
Han Shude shook his head, "We’re not here to find calligraphy, paintings, or furniture. Besides, I have a feeling that these things are quite common in this city and cannot be considered valuable treasures. These things can be left for the officials to deal with later. Our time is limited, so we should focus on finding items related to cultivation that are more valuable."
Everyone continued searching, and it was evident that the owner of the house had a good living condition, with a living room, bedroom, and study room all present.
"Everything in this house is a mess. It seems that the owner left in a hurry..."
Lin Chen didn’t join in the discussion and thought to himself.
Did these people leave in haste because the Unknown Land encountered some kind of disaster and was about to "die"?
"Is this a storeroom?"
Han Xuegong pushed open a small door and his eyes suddenly brightened, "Come here and have a look."
Everyone gathered and found that there were shelves inside the small room with boxes on them and some empty boxes scattered on the floor.
"It seems that before the owner left, they took some things from here, but they didn’t have enough time to take everything... Is this ginseng?"
Han Shude took the box, opened it, and looked with a surprised expression, "This is Old Mountain Ginseng, of very high quality. Judging by its appearance, it must be at least 500 years old, and this Old Mountain Ginseng is slightly different from the ones we usually see..."
He sniffed it, pinched a small piece from the tail of the ginseng, and put it in his mouth to taste it. His eyes brightened with surprise, "The medicinal effect is many times stronger than the Old Mountain Ginseng we have outside."
Everyone excitedly continued searching and found two more medicinal materials and a box containing medicine pills. The box bore the name Wuling Pill, and inside was a red pill the size of a pigeon egg. However, no one knew what the pill’s function was.
After completing the search, the group returned to the entrance. Han Xuehai glanced at the scattered houses hidden in the darkness and looked at Lin Chen. Hesitating, he said, "If we continue acting together, it will be too time-consuming. Let’s split up. Each of us searches separately. If there’s any danger, shout out, and the others will come to help as soon as possible."
Lin Chen naturally had no objections. Even if Han Xuehai hadn’t suggested it, Lin Chen would have done so himself. Otherwise, any gains from working with the Han Family would not include Lin Chen’s share.
Since he had come inside, he didn’t want to be just a spectator.
Han Xuehai looked at his watch and said, "After searching the entire village, let’s meet back here in three hours."
"All right!"
The four Han family members quickly rushed towards the other large blue brick and tile houses in the center of the village, while Lin Chen headed for the house next door without competing with them.
After walking for a while, Lin Chen stopped and looked back, somewhat puzzled. He used his flashlight to search around, but there was no sign of anything unusual. The surroundings were dead silent.
Lin Chen furrowed his brows. Why did he feel as if he was being watched?
Was it just his imagination?
