Chapter 2944: Chapter 2964: The Peak, The Bottleneck

Cultivation knows no days nor months, time blinks away.

Just two days shy of the two-month mark since Lin Chen entered Spirit Ascension Hall!

In these two months, Lin Chen was like an emotionless machine, crazily absorbing spiritual Qi, then transforming it into spiritual power, storing it in the Sea of Knowledge, where the spiritual power had formed an ever-expanding lake.

The speed at which Lin Chen absorbed spiritual Qi, however, gradually slowed down, like a sprinter transitioning to a jog and finally to a walk.

Lin Chenxin was thrilled, knowing full well that his strength was fast approaching the low-grade peak.

It was like filling a bottle: first with big stones until no more could fit, then adding sand to fill the gaps, and when no more sand could fit, he continued by pouring water in, determined to fill the bottle to the brim!

As the speed of spiritual Qi absorption dwindled, the scene was observed by the watchers of cell twenty-seven, their eyes shining with radiance.

They had seen many similar scenes and naturally understood what it signified.

Lin Chen had, in a mere two months, raised his strength to the low-grade peak!

Such a rate of strength advancement was astoundingly swift!

Not only in speed, but the amount of spiritual Qi that Lin Chen absorbed was also terrifying!

A regular Lower Grade Great Luo Initial Immortal would absorb for half a year to reach the peak, but Lin Chen, at about eight times the speed, had absorbed for two months, equivalent to sixteen months for a regular Lower Grade Great Luo Initial Immortal.

This meant that even among Lower Grade Daluo Initial Immortals, the capacity of spiritual power in Lin Chen’s Sea of Knowledge was at least three times more than the others!

And that was just the quantity of spiritual power in the Sea of Knowledge; such an amount of spiritual power, if brought into battle, meant that the resulting combat power would be not just a simple numerical calculation, but an utterly crushing dominance!

Though they might be in the same realm, they were no longer on the same level.

This Lin Chen was truly a demon among men!

The middle-aged man crossed his arms, watching Lin Chen in cell twenty-seven with slightly squinted eyes that flickered with insight.

"How much time does he have left?"

"Two more days."

The middle-aged man nodded, "Continue to watch him, and report to me the moment anything unusual happens."

"Yes," was the reply.

The middle-aged man turned and left the surveillance room, heading towards a certain part of the city.

Inside cell twenty-seven, the Token on Lin Chen’s body suddenly exploded with intense radiance and emitted a slight buzzing sound, like cicadas on a summer day.

Lin Chen opened his eyes from his meditation, his gaze twinkling with joy.

The timing was just right!

One day ago, he had already reached the point where he could barely absorb any more spiritual Qi, but he persisted.

Even a little bit more was still good, right?

Having come all this way, why Waste the opportunity?

Without further delay, Lin Chen stood up and left the room.

At the guardhouse, Lin Chen handed over his Token and casually asked, "Has there been any change in the front-line battle situation these past two months?"

The guard took the Token and replied calmly, "The crack in the passage has widened, but so far the Battlefield at the front line remains the same, with teams engaged in close combat, no changes."

"Thank you," Lin Chen said.

After leaving Spirit Ascension Hall, Lin Chen made a beeline out of the city and headed straight back to the Camp, since he had only been granted a two-month cultivation leave, after which he had to return.

The once deserted Camp of the Ninth Division had now been refilled, and Lin Chen breathed a sigh of relief, indicating that the First Corps must have been rotated back in.

Upon returning to the Third Squad, Lin Chen coincidentally ran into Chi Ya.

Chi Ya, with a surprised look of joy, exclaimed, "Sect Master, you’re back!"

Lin Chen’s gaze swept over the Camp of the Third Squad, and seeing no change from the Time of leaving, he relaxed, "Everything’s been okay with the team?"

Chi Ya quickly reported, "All good. About ten days after you went to the Spirit Ascension Hall, the entire First Corps got rotated out. I inquired a bit, and after we left, the first, seventh, and tenth squads all had their turn at a clash, but they were apparently chosen by drawing lots..."

Lin Chen scoffed, "For them, it’s drawing lots to see who gets the chance while for us it’s straight-up singling out..."

Chi Ya gave a wry smile, was it the same?

The Fifth Team was notoriously tough with strong combat prowess; it was only natural for them to be chosen to lead, and for the Third Squad to be called out immediately after—how could it not be targeting them?

Chi Ya then asked, "Sect Master, how did your cultivation go?"

There was no need to hide anything from Chi Ya, so Lin Chen said with a laugh, "Better than expected, low-grade peak!"

Chi Ya’s eyes widened with joyful surprise, "You reached the peak?"

Lin Chen nodded, "Yes."

Chi Ya’s eyes shone with admiration, "Sect Master, how did you cultivate like this? Your speed of progress is too fast, it’s extravagant! You had only just entered the lower grade before, and now this is... too exaggerated!"

Lin Chen said with a laugh, "It’s probably the Cultivation Technique. I absorb spiritual Qi very quickly. I didn’t notice much when the spiritual Qi concentration was low, but now that the concentration is absurdly high, I can feel it. This is actually my first time having such a sensation..."
