Chapter 2811: Chapter 2831: Acting

Refinement had been going on for about half a day when dusk gradually set in.

When a crisp bell tone rang out, all the refiners heaved a sigh of relief and ceased their refining actions.

"Ah, I’m dead tired; finally, we can rest."

"Yes, refining all day long, my bones are sore."

"We’re close, the Sacrificial Altar is almost complete. Our mission will soon end. As soon as the Teleportation Formation of the Sacrificial Altar is activated, we can consider our great task accomplished. Each of us will have made a significant contribution and will receive a handsome reward, hehe..."

"Go, drink some wine. A bit of wine will help with sleep."

"Go!"

The Artifact Refiners chattered casually as they walked out in groups.

Lin Chen was considering what he should do next when the Artifact Refiner in front of him turned his head and said, "Moze, do you want to join us?"

Lin Chen, unsure of where else to go, nodded without hesitation.

Lin Chen remained silent, even though he could speak in a hushed tone, but his voice could still be easily recognized by others.

Seeing Lin Chen nod, the Artifact Refiner didn’t mind and got up and walked outside.

Lin Chen followed closely behind, remaining silent.

The two left the Tent and then reached a huge room in the middle of the Camp, similar to a dining hall or a tavern, with large tables where many Black-robed People were gathered, either drinking or playing a card game similar to poker, occasionally making a lot of noise.

Lin Chen quickly scanned the room and breathed a sigh of relief.

Although these people were strong, at a glance, they seemed no different from ordinary people.

After a day’s hard work, drinking and playing cards with friends in the tavern helped to relax and unwind, then get a good night’s sleep to face another day of labors.

However, what could make so many formidable immortals, even Daluo Immortals, hide in the Red River Mountains and establish the Misty World and Sacrificial Altar for some teleportation purpose? Clearly, the forces behind these people were not simple.

Now, it was most important to figure out two things, first, their origins, and second, the purpose of their establishment of the Sacrificial Altar and the teleportation.

Lin Chen was curious, but then again, not that curious.

For him, the Bitter Sea Immortal Domain was just a transient place. His visit to the Red River Mountains was solely to find the Leap Void Beast. Other matters had little to do with him, so he might not necessarily have to understand everything happening here.

He just needed to obtain the horn of the Leap Void Beast and then leave safely to achieve his goal.

A few Refiners sat at a table, and someone brought out fine wine and food, and they began to drink.

The Technique of the black hood was highly concealing; even while drinking and eating, it could completely hide a person’s face. The downside was that Lin Chen couldn’t see these people’s faces, the upside was they couldn’t see his either.

The Refiners began to chat idly, Lin Chen held a wine glass, kept silent, and listened attentively.

Lin Chen tried to determine their origins and purpose from their conversation, but after a while, he only heard about one refiner’s romantic past and another’s failed secret love.

It seemed that no matter where one was or whatever one’s status or strength, a man was always just a man, no different from others.

Just as Lin Chen was considering whether to start a conversation to steer the topic, the refiner who had been in front of him suddenly turned his head and asked with a hint of confusion, "You usually talk a lot, why are you so quiet today?"

Lin Chen’s heart leaped; he sighed deeply, seemingly caught in his thoughts, waved his hand casually then took a big sip from his wine glass.

Lin Chen didn’t say a word, but he clearly expressed "I’m really annoyed, don’t want to talk. You guys chat" without uttering a sound.

Another refiner across the table laughed and said, "What’s the matter? Did the talk of women make you think of that beautiful widow again?"

Since someone had offered him an out, Lin Chen naturally took it and nodded.

That refiner laughed, "Even though she’s a widow, she is a General’s younger sister, high-status and so beautiful with plenty of admirers. Winning her over won’t be easy."

The refiner sitting opposite Lin Chen consoled him, "You’re so young yet so powerful, truly one of Heaven’s Chosen. It’s tough that you don’t have a strong background, not quite able to compare with those second-generation disciples."

"Our clan values military achievements the most. If you do make a noticeable contribution this time and get knighted for it, coupled with your potential, there might just be a chance for you."

The others at the table were all looking at Lin Chen, and if he spoke now, he would easily be detected since these people knew each other very well.

Lin Chen sighed and under their watchful eyes, he stood up, picked up the wine glass, drank all the wine in one go, put down the glass, pointed outside, then naturally began to walk outwards.

Seeing this, the others exchanged glances and laughed.

"Moze’s really upset, huh."

"Young people, always unable to see through things, not calm enough."

"You think everyone is like you, treating women as playthings?"

"Nevermind him, let’s drink!"

The other refiners didn’t think much of it and continued chatting among themselves, even those who were teamed up with Lin Chen.

Lin Chen walked out of the big house and looked at the Sacrificial Altar in the dusk.

He couldn’t dawdle any longer.

It was time to take action.
