Chapter 2677: Chapter 2697: Finally Fell for It!
Liu Junru recognized Baled, and Baled naturally recognized Liu Junru as well, since both were representatives of their sects.
Baled glanced at the demon race’s troops spread across the sky in a strict formation, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Liu Junru!"
Liu Junru spoke coldly, "Baled, it seems our numbers and strength are roughly equal right now. Are you prepared for this battle?"
With a grin, Baled responded boastfully, "Of course, we fight! Such a rare opportunity to encounter you, how could I not fight!"
Liu Junru snorted coldly, "In a battle where forces are evenly matched, no matter who wins, the price paid will certainly not be small!"
Baled’s right fist brutally smashed into his left palm, producing a sharp echo of bursting qi force, "To win, one naturally has to pay a price! For the tribe, warriors fear no sacrifice!"
Liu Junru’s expression was hesitant, seemingly still doubtful about the wisdom of fighting this battle, his resolution wavering.
Baled extended his hand, and a massive battle axe appeared in his grip. With a casual swing, the axe, heavy as a mountain, seemed to have no weight, as light as a feather.
"Warriors, for victory! Charge formation, break through them!"
At Baled’s impassioned roar, the tribal warriors behind him instantly switched formations, creating a conical charge formation, with Baled at the very tip.
Baled flew forward, with dozens of barbarian warriors close behind, their formation resembling a bullet, bearing down toward the center of the demon race’s defensive formation.
To maintain the formation, Baled’s speed was not excessive, but his approach with the barbarian warriors imparted an immense pressure, as if dark clouds were crushing the city.
Liu Junru had long decided to fight this battle. All his hesitation, all his doubt, was just a performance.
He wanted Baled to think he didn’t want to engage, to believe he lacked the resolve for a head-on collision where the odds were even. Only with such a mindset would his subsequent retreat seem natural, and they would recklessly and boldly pursue without reservations.
Liu Junru used his magical treasure, bellowing loudly, "For the demon race, to battle!"
Every demon roared in unison, their voices unified, piercing the sky dome.
"To battle!"
Following this hiss, various magical treasures flew out, an assortment of divine powers began to shine with radiance of different colors, and nearly a hundred terrifying auras harshly collided, creating an invisible and intense explosion of sound.
Baled leaped into the air, his massive axe in hand as if the Pangu Axe that split Heaven and Earth, slashing down from the sky with a monumental force.
With this axe, it seemed as though the entire world would be cleft in two.
With a sweep of Sword Finger, Liu Junru summoned a black spear, like an evil dragon born into the world, roaring as it collided with the massive axe.
"Boom!"
Countless black fissures appeared in the space, spreading rapidly like a spider web, then disappeared in the blink of an eye.
The entire world seemed to tremble violently for a moment, the surrounding mountain peaks shattered instantly by an invisible vibration, scattering into the gale in all directions.
The ground heaved violently, several large cracks emerging suddenly, revealing the abyss-like depths below.
Meanwhile, hundreds of magical treasures howled in midair, clashing together, with domains of divine power wildly expanding, intertwining, tearing at each other.
The demon race stood still as mountains, while the barbarian tribe attacked like fire.
In the fierce collision, casualties soon emerged.
Although both sides placed their strongest individuals at the most critical positions, whether for offense or defense, once the battle began, chaos ensued, and weaknesses invariably appeared. Those with lesser strength naturally became the prime targets for the powerhouses to breach first.
When about a dozen of the demon race had fallen, Liu Junru shouted sternly, "First team, hold the line; second team, retreat!"
The first team of demon powerhouses fully unleashed their power, deploying various furious attacks and desperate moves, abruptly interrupting the barbarians’ momentum. In this brief interval, the second team of the demon race withdrew from the battlefield, retreating along a prearranged route to the rear.
Immediately afterward, Liu Junru yelled, "First team, retreat!"
All the first-tier demon powerhouses released their most ferocious attacks and then turned to flee.
As the team leader, Liu Junru watched everyone withdraw from combat before throwing out an Explosive Talisman and detonating it.
The fierce explosion forced all the barbarian warriors seeking to pursue to hastily defend themselves, Baled included.
Seizing the opportunity, Liu Junru turned tail and ran.
Baled, with a casual swing of his axe, split open the endless barrage of explosions and, shooting forth like a rainbow, roared, "Liu Junru, don’t run! Let’s decide it with a fight to the death!"
Liu Junru didn’t bother with him and simply focused on fleeing, moving at breakneck speed.
"Chase!"
Baled, unwilling to concede, roared and led a large group of barbarian powerhouses in hot pursuit behind Liu Junru and his men, relentless in their chase.
Sensing the dozens of formidable auras streaking across the sky behind him, Liu Junru’s downturned face revealed a slight, cold curve at the corners of his mouth.
Finally took the bait!
