Chapter 2557 - 2577: Are the Two of You Guests from Another Domain?

Chapter 2557: Chapter 2577: Are the Two of You Guests from Another Domain?

The Sun hung high in the sky, but the brilliant sunshine could not be felt; the dark fog that enveloped Heaven and Earth blocked out the light, casting only vague and hazy Light-shadows.

Under the shroud of the dark fog, the world was dim, like the haziness before nightfall descends.

There was no sun shining brightly, no clear blue skies, nor picturesque mountains and waters.

This is Western Hell, a world of dismal light.

Lin Chen and Shang Wenyin had arrived in Western Hell several days ago and had gradually adapted to the world enveloped by twilight fog.

Because of the unique environment of Western Hell, a unique Nether Tribe had formed, their appearances similar to the Human Clan, but with an ashen-gray complexion. Due to long-term absorption of Demonic Qi, although they would not turn into Magical Beasts, they still underwent some changes; most of the people of Western Hell have crimson within their eyes and are quick-tempered, resorting to violence at the slightest disagreement, and even to the death if necessary.

Natives of Western Hell naturally harbor animosity towards all other realms, an animosity likely born from a mix of envy, jealousy, and hatred. Why should you live beneath the sunshine, while we languish in this hellish, gray world?

The harsh living conditions of Western Hell not only forged the stalwart character of its people but also afforded them numerous conveniences in cultivation.

The spiritual strength, or soul strength, of the Western Hell people is much stronger than that of people from other realms, resulting in their faster pace in cultivation. Within the same realm, cultivators from Western Hell are often somewhat stronger than those from the other three realms.

In the recent selection by the Myriad Immortal Hall, the first place was taken by a prodigy from Western Hell.

Wrapped in Western Hell’s fog, to reduce contact between their skin and the fog, most people enshroud themselves with cloth strips like mummies, further covered by robes, their dress resembling that of residents who have long lived in the desert.

Since entering Western Hell, the two had come into contact with some native inhabitants; the ordinary people looked at Lin Chen and Shang Wenyin with undisguised reverence in their eyes, and the most intense emotion was envy.

This gaze gave Lin Chen an illusion; these ordinary people of Western Hell seemed like denizens of hell, gazing up at guests from Heaven, both awestruck and envious.

As for hatred, animosity?

Perhaps they harbored such feelings in their hearts, but as ordinary people, they dared not exhibit even a trace of it.

Ordinary people openly hostile towards immortals?

Are they weary of living?

"There’s a village ahead. Let’s go ask for directions..."

Lin Chen and Shang Wenyin had entered Western Hell, but a vast area still belonged to the borderlands of Western Hell, desolate and uninhabited for thousands of miles, with the ground roamed by low-level Magical Beasts resembling dogs, scavenging for food.

The previous encounters with two villages, where people stopped to ask for directions, yielded no useful information.

Villages could be thousands of miles apart. Without a cultivator’s gathering place, how would the ordinary people know of the world outside, or where the City of Nether Fire might lie?

They didn’t even know where Immortals could be found.

This was a remote area forgotten by Western Hell.

The two could only continue heading westward, after all, the entire Western Hell lay to the west of the Ten Thousand Gods Immortal Domain; heading westward should not be wrong.

This was a small settlement of a few hundred people, surrounded by a perimeter fence made of robust trees, sufficient to repel the lowest tier of Magical Beasts and secure the safety of the inhabitants within.

"We seek directions. Is there a Xianmen nearby, a sect of cultivators?"

The range of activities for ordinary people was exceedingly limited, and they hardly grasped where they were, but the range of activities for a sect of cultivators would naturally be much greater. By finding a sect, they could then continue their search journey by journey.

The old man, who was questioned, reverently replied, "We do not know where a Xianmen might be, but if you travel a thousand li north from here, there is a very tall mountain, and on that mountainside are immortals..."

"Thank you!"

After politely thanking the old man, Lin Chen gave him several bags of grain and a bottle of low-level medicinal pill for treating external injuries, and then they proceeded northward.

The distance of a thousand li was covered in the blink of an eye.

Lin Chen’s Divine Sense extended, searching over the mountains, and soon found a place shrouded by an Array Formation, likely the abode of the immortals mentioned by the old man.

Lin Chen and Shang Wenyin approached the Array Formation, and Lin Chen called out, "Is anyone there?"

The Array Formation opened, Lamplight spilled out from within, followed by the laughter of women.

A middle-aged man with a black crown on his head appeared at the entrance, his gaze sweeping over the two, a gentle smile on his face.

"Judging by your attire, have you come from another realm?"

Lin Chen gave a salutation and said, "Greetings, fellow cultivator. We have come from the Northern Sea and have found ourselves directionless since entering this region. We have asked around and found our way here, hoping to seek guidance from you, if it’s not too much trouble?"

The middle-aged man laughed heartily, "This secluded dwelling of mine is in a remote place, seldom visited by guests, let alone friends from other realms. Since you are here, you are guests. Please come inside and have a drink, and we can chat at leisure."

Lin Chen and Shang Wenyin entered the Array Formation, and in front of their eyes, the view suddenly opened up.
