Chapter 2244: Chapter 2264: Underwater Chase, Life and Death at Extreme Speed_1
Lin Chen was very curious about the origin of the sword and even more curious about the source of the demonic Qi at the bottom of the water.
He had an intuition that the sword and the source of the demonic Qi were definitely related!
After discussing, the four of them continued to descend, each with their own thoughts, but since no one could move the sword, there was no immediate worry about anyone turning hostile.
Su Yanran whispered, "Why do I feel like there are many strong presences surrounding us..."
Qi Wuchang’s expression was grave, "Yes, these presences seem to be almost as strong as that octopus."
Zhong Shuyu gave a bitter laugh, "If the source of the world’s demonic Qi truly lies below, the closer we get to the origin, the denser the demonic Qi will be, and the stronger the magical beasts that can survive here will likely be..."
The people felt a chill, but no one suggested turning back; they continued in silence, descending. Lin Chen noticed that the three of them had each summoned several Magical Treasures with amazing power, surrounding themselves, ready for an ambush or an immediate battle.
Soon, Lin Chen also sensed those terrifying presences, which were clearly from extremely powerful magical beasts. The aura of savagery, slaughter, and darkness was very unique and easily distinguishable.
Lin Chen could clearly feel that as they descended, in the pitch-black waters without a sliver of light, countless ferocious and huge magical beasts were lurking in the cover of the dark water, eyeing them hungrily, ready to pounce at any moment and tear them to shreds.
Lin Chen asked softly, "They should be able to sense us, right? Why haven’t they attacked us?"
Qi Wuchang and the others had somber faces but did not answer.
Even as Daluo Ultimate Immortals, they too felt tremendous pressure at this moment.
They turned to look at Lin Chen and found that although he was asking, he showed no sign of panic, which invariably surprised them.
Was it because he thought they would protect him, or did he have some means to save his own life?
The four continued to delve deeper, the demonic Qi around them growing more intense. The force of their Domains could only extend over a very small range, and they could not move as swiftly as they could in midair, traversing miles in an instant; they had no choice but to descend earnestly along the giant body of the sword.
Furthermore, the number of powerful presences felt in the surrounding darkness kept increasing with depth, and they were getting closer, like a pack of wolves closing in on their prey.
Just when the people were extremely apprehensive, several particularly powerful presences suddenly stirred and charged at them with incredible speed.
"They’re coming!"
Zhong Shuyu’s face changed dramatically, and he shouted loudly, "What do we do?"
Qi Wuchang and Su Yanran were equally tense and uncertain for a moment.
Retreat upward, or keep descending?
If they chose to ascend, focused solely on survival, the attackers might not be able to hold them down even if they were ambushed. But if they went downward and delved deeper, they might get cornered by the many powerful magical beasts and, in the abyss as dark as ink, they might not be able to escape.
Feeling the presence approaching faster than the previous octopus, Qi Wuchang’s eyes flickered decisively, and ultimately couldn’t withstand the terrifying pressure, he whispered, "Retreat first, we can return later."
Zhong Shuyu and Su Yanran let out a sigh of relief too. They also felt immense pressure, so great they wanted to turn and flee but were held back by pride and reluctance.
Now that Qi Wuchang had made a decision, they could retreat as a matter of course. After all, everything here wouldn’t just vanish; they could make preparations and come back down later.
The three turned around and sped upward to break through. Su Yanran called out, "Friend Lin, let’s retreat... What are you doing?"
Su Yanran’s voice suddenly rose sharply, a shocked and piercing yell, as she saw that instead of turning back, Lin Chen had suddenly accelerated and was rushing even faster downward along the sword.
Lin Chen was actually still intent on exploring further down?
In the urgent situation, even if Qi Wuchang and the others wanted to say something to persuade Lin Chen, it was too late. They could only pass by Lin Chen as he went the opposite direction, quickly fleeing upward.
Lin Chen increased his speed to the maximum, rapidly descending further down.
The black Qi in the water was now incredibly thick, and Lin Chen’s speed was greatly hindered, but he still did not give up and continued to dash downward.
He wanted to see for himself what lay below this sword?
What was the source of the demonic Qi?
The swarming magical beasts in the water split into two groups, one chasing after Lin Chen and the other after Qi Wuchang and the others heading toward the water surface.
Lin Chen sensed the terrifying presences behind him growing ever closer, and more formidable ones from the surrounding waters rapidly approaching to join in the chase.
Though Lin Chen couldn’t see them, he could feel innumerable magical beasts pursuing him from behind. They converged together like a tidal wave of beasts, frantically chasing after him. If he slowed down even for an instant, they would catch up and swallow him whole.
