Chapter 1757: Chapter 1777: Did She Bully You?_1

Immortal Palace.

Yao Xuanji is sitting at his desk, reading a document, with a report-carrying palace guard next to him.

The guard has been waiting for a while, but Yao Xuanji has yet to give an order. Unable to help himself, the guard tentatively lifts his head to find that although Yao Xuanji’s gaze is on the document, he doesn’t seem to be paying attention.

Is he daydreaming?

The guard cautiously calls out, "Great One?"

Yao Xuanji suddenly lifts his eyes, as if he had just been shaken back to reality, and orders the guard, "I need to think about this matter. You may leave for now."

The guard looks puzzled. This was standard procedure, routine reporting. Why would it need more consideration?

"Yes!"

Leaving the room with a doubtful mind, the guard leaves Yao Xuanji alone.

Yao Xuanji’s icy expression suddenly crumbles and he covers his face with both hands, his cheeks slightly flushing.

It was so embarrassing.

He had been daydreaming in front of his subordinate.

The reason for the flush was because he was thinking about Lin Chen.

"Where has this guy disappeared to, he’s so secretive!"

When the previous attempt from Cao Hechuan and others to encircle and kill the Four Seas Immortal Monarch failed, Lin Chen disappeared.

His disappearance lasted almost a month, causing Yao Xuanji to worry greatly. Cao Hechuan felt very guilty because in the end, they found that the one operating the escaping magical treasure was just a clone.

Where did his true body go?

His true body apparently escaped halfway through, and the final retreat point was the lofty mountain peak where Lin Chen was hiding.

Cao Hechuan believed Lin Chen was probably taken away by the Four Seas Immortal Monarch and then at some distance, just casually killed.

The reason to take Lin Chen away is to prevent Lin Chen from spilling secrets, and the reason to kill him is the same!

Just when Yao Xuanji was on the brink of despair, she suddenly received a message from Lin Chen.

He was safe and currently in a secure location, but due to some personal matters, he temporarily couldn’t return to the Immortal Palace!

Yao Xuanji finally managed to exhale, but there was also a lot of doubt, wondering what had happened to Lin Chen.

With a mind full of worry, Yao Xuanji occasionally found herself thinking about him.

It was the same just now.

As Yao Xuanji held her face in her hands, she suddenly heard footsteps. Quickly rubbing her face and regaining her serious expression, she once again picked up the paper, continuing to look it over and waiting for the visitor.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

"Come in!"

Someone pushed open the door and walked in. Looking up with a stern expression, Yao Xuanji suddenly froze.

Standing at the door, wasn’t that Lin Chen she had just been thinking about?

Blinking, Yao Xuanji feared she was merely hallucinating.

Lin Chen looked at Yao Xuanji with a jovial grin and said lightly, "What kind of face is that? Aren’t you happy to see me back?"

It’s real!

This guy, he’s way too annoying!

Yao Xuanji threw aside the paper in her hand, stood up abruptly, and while a smile was about to surface on her face, she quickly put on a serious and upset expression.

"You finally decided to come back. You disappeared for so long without a word, don’t you know you would make me... make everybody worry?"

Seeing Yao Xuanji’s pretend upset expression, Lin Chen couldn’t help but explained with a barely contained smile, "I didn’t want to run off, but if I didn’t, I would definitely have died."

Yao Xuanji widened her eyes, no longer able to keep a stern face, quickly walked over to Lin Chen, looked him up and down a few times, noted that he had no injuries, and finally breathed a little easier.

"Were you really taken away by the Four Seas Immortal Monarch?"

Lin Chen nodded, "Sort of. When she was escaping and creating a diversion, we accidentally ran into each other. She was injured, and ended up abducting me to operate the flying boat, to seek medical help in the south."

Yao Xuanji anxiously asked, "Did she bully you?"

Lin Chen shook his head, "She’s an Immortal Monarch after all. If she really didn’t like me, she would’ve just killed me. Why would she bother bullying me?"

Yao Xuanji asked, "Have you been with her this whole time?"

Lin Chen nodded, "Most of the time, yes. I did take a trip to the Bai Ye Mountain Range in-between to help her find medicine."

Yao Xuanji asked in surprise, "You helped her find medicine, why didn’t you escape when you had the chance?"

Lin Chen answered honestly, "Because she said that if I helped her, she would help me break through my bottleneck."

Yao Xuanji instinctively yelled, "She’s the Four Seas Immortal Monarch, the white-clothed Blood Envoy. How could you believe her words? Once she’s done using you, she would casually kill you. What could you do then..."

Yao Xuanji abruptly stopped her words, because she saw Lin Chen was laughing.

Yao Xuanji widened her eyes in disbelief, "She didn’t really keep her promise and help you break through, did she?"

Lin Chen nodded his head, "Yes, I am now in the early stages of being a True Immortal."

Yao Xuanji looked rather bewildered as she took in Lin Chen’s appearance, "I heard from grandfather Cao that the Four Seas Immortal Monarch is actually a woman and also quite how shall we say... attractive. You didn’t..."

Lin Chen laughed, "No way, she simply kept her promise. Oh right, I also ran into Weijiao and had quite the chase."

Yao Xuanji widened her eyes, " You saw Weijiao? Where did you go these days? Did you go to the headquarters of the Heavenly Dao Alliance?"

Lin Chen chuckled, "I wouldn’t dare. That would be like delivering myself to death, and I haven’t had my fill of life just yet..."
