Chapter 1725: Chapter 1745: Five Poison Hall_1
Many Demonic Beasts are active at night, making Lin Chen’s evening flights through the skies quite a dangerous act.
Lin Chen had no wish to take such risks, alas, venturing out at night seemed the only way to search for the elusive Huo Ye Long Cao amidst the dense vegetation.
Fortunately, Lin Chen’s mastery of the spell ’Reducing Land to Inches’ was exceptional. Though he might not be strong enough to fight, escaping was not an issue.
Lin Chen flew for most of the night, being pursued and attacked by Demonic Beasts no less than twenty times. Among those were two exceptionally formidable Great Demons, however, his efforts yielded nothing.
As morning dawned on the second day, Chu Yue asked Lin Chen with concern, "Did you find anything?"
With a bitter smile, Lin Chen replied, "I was pursued and attacked by various Demonic Beasts all night and found nothing."
"The Bai Ye Mountain Range is vast. The area you searched last night wasn’t large, so don’t be disheartened."
Chu Yue offered some words of comfort before asking curiously, "Did you encounter any formidable Demonic Beasts?"
Lin Chen nodded, "Most of the Demonic Beasts were of average strength, but there was a White-faced Owl that was quite formidable. It was very stealthy and launched a sudden attack on me, which gave me quite a fright."
White-faced Owl?
Chu Yue raised an eyebrow. This was a beast the equivalent of a Golden Immortal with a strong combat power. It was swift as the wind and if it launched a surprise attack, even the Golden Immortal could suffer a great loss. Yet Lin Chen only called it a scare?
Just a scare?
Chu Yue gained a new understanding of Lin Chen’s strength. As expected from the heir of the Heavenly Sword, despite only being a Peak Earth Immortal, his combat power far exceeded his own realm.
No wonder he dared to venture into the Bai Ye Mountain Range alone and leisurely basked in the mountains.
The ship continued towards Poison Mist Valley, reaching it by noon.
Poisonous miasma covered the Poison Mist Valley, the boundaries of which were indistinguishable. Gray mist blanketed the valley and trees - a dense layer that obstructed even a kilometer into the sky. It shrouded a vast area.
Chu Yue frowned, standing at the end of the ship, "This miasma can cut off our divine sense, preventing us from observing what’s happening in the valley. This is going to be troublesome."
Lin Chen, however, wasn’t surprised at all. He had come across similar scenarios several times before.
The Eternal Tomb, the Gray Mist Island of the Sea of Oblivion, the Endless Abyss...
If it were merely normal fog, how could it impede these powerful immortals?
Chu Yue pondered before pushing his right hand towards the mist.
A sudden gale rose in the air. The fierce wind howled downwards from above, causing the fog to surge. Yet, as the fog swirled crazily with the wind, the dense fog below never dissipated.
Chu Yue frowned, "It seems we must enter. The single horn of the Seven-colored Jade Rhinoceros doesn’t always emit colorful rays of light, so we can’t just wait outside for the rays to pinpoint the Rhinoceros’s location."
Lin Chen nodded, "Though the area is large, as long as we’re in there, systematically searching every place, it shouldn’t take too long to cover all areas. If the Seven-colored Jade Rhinoceros really is here, we might find it... if it’s still around, that is."
Chu Yue thought for a moment before saying, "There’s no hurry. Let’s go a little further first and see if there are any other people around. We can ask about the situation."
The ship continued on its path and soon, they spotted a large group of people atop an imposing peak.
The peak was at least several thousand meters high, towering majestically. Its entire lower half was covered in miasma, only the top part was visible. It was a peak that penetrated the clouds.
The adventurers naturally chose this peak as their temporary rest spot. Staying together in a group increased safety.
As the flying boat landed on the peak, Lin Chen and Chu Yue disembarked and approached a kind-faced middle-aged man to gather information.
"May I ask, fellow cultivator, we’ve just arrived, what’s the situation around here?"
The middle-aged man looked at the Star Mist Sword Sect’s flag on the ship and a twinkle of respect appeared in his eyes. He saluted and answered, "The poisonous miasma in Poison Mist Valley is more terrifying than we imagined. Ordinary Detoxifying Pills and Anti-Miasma Pills are unable to resist the poison. Quite a few people took Detoxifying Pills and went in, but most of them ended up poisoned."
"Those who did get poisoned mostly felt something was wrong and left. They didn’t get too deep into the poison and their condition wasn’t too bad. However, a few greedy souls or those with inflated beliefs in their strength, who thought they could resist the poison, stayed in far too long. They got deeply poisoned, and several of them died."
"Only a small number of people used high-grade Detoxification Pills which effectively resisted the miasma here, and could smoothly enter the Poison Mist Valley. All people here generally lack Detoxification Pills, hence they can’t enter. But they’re not willing to give up and are waiting outside, wishing to have a stroke of luck, hoping to see the seven-colored rays of light emitted by the Seven-colored Jade Rhinoceros."
Chu Yue exhaled in relief, "So, no one has managed to succeed yet, right?"
The middle-aged man replied, "Those who are now entering are essentially disciples from Five Poison Hall. They’ve been dealing with poisons, venoms, and venomous creatures for years, hence are the most knowledgeable about poison and have the strongest resistance to it. But their flying boat is still here, suggesting they have not yet found the Seven-colored Spirit Rhinoceros..."
