Qin Han and the sales associate both looked up upon hearing the voice, and the sales associate, seeing who had come, hastily said respectfully, “Young Master Gong, hello!”

Qin Han also looked at the newcomer with some surprise, not expecting to encounter Gong Mingyu, the eldest son of the Gong family who he had previously met at the jade gambling event, here.

Gong Mingyu walked over to Qin Han and said indifferently, “Mr.

Qin, are you here to choose a ring?”

“Yes, I’m looking for a wedding ring.

I didn’t expect this store to be yours!” Qin Han said calmly.

As of today, Qin Han was no longer the obscure nobody he had once been; his stories were all over the television recently, and many in the Zhongzhou circles knew of him.

“A wedding ring?” Gong Mingyu was startled upon hearing this.

Hadn’t Qin Han already married?

Just yesterday he had seen the clip of Qin Han and Song Yuwei’s conversation on some short video platforms.

“Yes, I wasn’t capable before, so I didn’t buy anything for my wife when we got married.

Hence, I want to make it up to her,” Qin Han explained.

Although there had been some unpleasantness with Gong Mingyu before, looking at his attitude now, it seemed he harbored no intention of making trouble over past events.

“Oh, Mr.

Qin, you’re quite the romantic,” Gong Mingyu said with a smile, then his expression became somewhat solemn, “Mr.

Qin, I’ve had some disputes with Zhou Wenfeng.

Last time at the jade event, I failed to recognize true value; I hope you don’t mind.”

Gong Mingyu was pragmatic in his thinking; for someone like Qin Han, it was best to win him over if possible, and at the very least, not to stand against him.

After all, with Qin Han’s strength, dealing with the Gong family would only require a call to action, and many major families would likely volunteer to take action against the Gong family for him.

He wouldn’t need to lift a finger himself; the Gong family would become the stepping stone for those major families to curry favor with Qin Han and form alliances.

“The matter is already in the past, and besides, I made quite a bit last time,” Qin Han said indifferently.

Hearing this, Gong Mingyu breathed a sigh of relief.

He had genuinely feared that Qin Han might turn around to help the Zhou family deal with the Gong family.

But now, it seemed that Qin Han had not taken their past encounter to heart.

He then told the sales associate, “Give Mr.

Qin a 20% discount.”

After that, he nodded to Qin Han and said, “Mr.

Qin, please take your time selecting.

I have some business to attend to over there.”

Qin Han nodded.

Gong Mingyu didn’t come forward to offer Qin Han a ring or anything of the sort, not because he couldn’t afford it, but because he knew even if he offered, Qin Han might not accept it, and that could lead to an awkward situation for both parties.

Moreover, he and Qin Han were neither relatives nor close friends.

If he started off by giving away a ring, Qin Han would surely suspect he had ulterior motives.

In dealing with Qin Han, Gong Mingyu’s attitude was to try to be as friendly as possible, or at least to not offend him, ensuring that they could at least maintain face.

Of course, according to his investigation, Qin Han had a special relationship with the Zhou family.

His actions were simply a precaution for a possible future conflict between the Zhou and Gong families, hoping that if it came to that, Qin Han would not take sides.

Qin Han greatly admired Gong Mingyu’s approach.

After the event at the jade venue, Qin Han thought Gong Mingyu was a proud, brainless person; now it appeared not only was Gong Mingyu not brainless, but he was also quite savvy.

Nowadays, the term “second generation” was almost a derogatory term; when people mentioned the second generation, they referred to frivolous, pretentious young heirs with nothing but money, whose thoughts and actions were overly dramatic and immature.

However, Qin Han knew that from ancient times to the present, the true great families trained their heirs to be nothing like that, these second generations leveraging the shadow of their families to further expand and improve their family businesses.

Just like Zhou Wenfeng and Gong Mingyu, they were likely the second-generation heirs appointed to take over the family business.

It didn’t take long for Qin Han to choose a ring.

After paying, he got ready to leave.

As he reached the door, Gong Mingyu lifted his head and nodded towards Qin Han.

Qin Han looked over and saw Gong Mingyu was discussing business with two people, who appeared to be there to sell jade stones, and were negotiating the price with Ming Yu.

Qin Han had already stepped one foot out the door, but upon seeing the jade stone in Gong Mingyu’s hand, he withdrew his step.

“Well, I’ll help him out this time!” Qin Han thought as he made his way towards Ming Yu, appreciating the fact that Ming Yu had offered him an eight percent discount without holding any grudges.

Although he did not lack money, Ming Yu had given him face nonetheless.

Qin Han never believed that his own power and status were so high that everyone should treat him with deference.

Seeing Qin Han approach, Gong Mingyu was somewhat surprised and stood up to ask, “Mr.

Qin, is there something amiss with the ring?”

“May I take a look at this piece of jade?” Qin Han asked indifferently.

Gong Mingyu was taken aback for a moment, then came to a realization, knowing that Qin Han had demonstrated his skill on the jade market and that the piece of jade in his own hands was a rare sight.

He guessed Qin Han was pleased at the sight and wanted to take a closer look.

Gong Mingyu then handed the jade stone to Qin Han, but the two individuals selling the jade appeared displeased and said to Ming Yu, “Young Master Gong, isn’t this a bit inappropriate?”

“Mr.

Qin is a friend of mine, as well as a master of jade,” Gong Mingyu said with a smile.

In truth, he said this entirely to give face to Qin Han; while Qin Han’s ability to bet on stones was indeed strong, Gong Mingyu did not really know how much Qin Han knew about jade appraisal.

Qin Han examined the jade stone in his hand, a baby-palm-sized jade Buddha, green throughout, sparkling and translucent, with a surface that shimmered radiantly, as if water was about to flow out of it.

Based on its appearance alone, this piece of jade stone was definitely a treasure.

However, after looking at it for a moment, Qin Han turned to the two people selling the jade and asked, “Where did you two acquire this jade stone?”

“Sir, you seem to be unfamiliar with the etiquette here.

If you come to sell and the price is right, you buy; if it’s not, we cooperate next time, but asking about the origin of the stone is a bit excessive,” one of the bald men said.

Gong Mingyu also felt uneasy as he said, “Mr.

Qin, this indeed goes against the rules.”

He became even more convinced that Qin Han did not understand jade appraisal and thought that Qin Han was only skilled in stone gambling.

He did not believe that Qin Han’s winning stone gamble last time was due to luck, as someone who could reveal three greens in a jade market, the last of which was an imperial green, could not possibly rely on mere luck.

Qin Han nodded and then inquired, “So, how much are you asking?”

That’s when Gong Mingyu felt a bit upset inside, though he didn’t show it, and said, “One billion!”

“One billion!

You really dare to ask!” Qin Han scoffed coldly.

Upon hearing this, the bald man became somewhat annoyed, stood up and said, “Young Master Gong, we chose to come to the Gong family’s jade business in Zhongzhou first because we value your family’s reputation.

However, it seems the Gong family isn’t earnest in purchasing our stone.

We should take our leave and see what the Zhou family has to offer.”

Hearing the bald man’s words, Gong Mingyu became anxious.

If he could acquire this piece of jade, he could make at least several tens of millions by reselling it.

The two people wouldn’t sell at such a low price if they were not in urgent need of money.

Now, due to a single comment by Qin Han, the deal was about to fall through, and Gong Mingyu couldn’t help feeling anxious.

Could it be?

A thought suddenly struck Gong Mingyu – could Qin Han be intentionally driving the two away to let the Zhou family purchase the jade?

At this thought, Gong Mingyu felt even more angry.

He had already bowed and made concessions; Qin Han’s behavior was indeed too much of a bullying!
