Chapter 621: Chapter 614: The Giant Poisonous Viper
Chapter 614: Giant Defective Viper
"Nini, I think you should go back. They say this place is often haunted. Aren’t you afraid?"
The old police officer’s eyes flashed with a few strands of fierce light as he intentionally tried to intimidate.
"What’s there to be afraid of? It’s all just superstitious talk made up by bored people. I don’t believe in that kind of stuff," Su Ni said with a wave of her hand, showing her disinterest.
Pointing at the other seven junior detectives, she asked, "What time is it, and you’re still drinking?"
But the seven junior detectives didn’t even turn their heads, continuing to squat in place, motionless, their ears perked up.
Especially one of them wearing glasses, holding something shiny in his hand. Under the moonlight, the reflection from his glasses was cast entirely on the blade.
All of this was seen clearly by Lin Zifeng.
However, it was then that Su Ni took the lead, snapping her fingers at Zifeng and headed towards the wild mountains.
Lin Zifeng couldn’t be sure what the detectives were up to and was just about to step forward to remind Su Ni.
Instead, he received a roll of the eyes from Su Ni, who said, "Are you scared to go up? Are you afraid of ghosts? If you’re scared, you can go back. This is a rare opportunity, I must catch those troublemakers."
"You dare go up alone?" Lin Zifeng challenged.
"According to the intel, there are only a few people in the gang we’re dealing with. Plus, our precinct has deployed eight officers. We have more than enough to handle these petty criminals."
Heh, whether this group of detectives is really from your precinct is up for debate.
Lin Zifeng smiled but didn’t say it out loud.
Under Su Ni’s lead, the junior detectives quickly followed. They kept some distance, and in the cover of night, all the junior detectives disappeared.
This made Lin Zifeng even more certain of his thoughts.
"Look! That’s their hideout!" Su Ni pointed at a small thatched cottage halfway up the mountain. The lights were bright inside, and several figures moved behind the windows, stirring up the area. The mountains were like that, dangerous everywhere, especially at night.
"What are you doing?" seeing Su Ni crouched in the bushes, using night vision goggles to repeatedly capture everything inside the cottage.
"Gathering some evidence," Su Ni said with her face flushed.
"..."
Lin Zifeng was at a loss.
As a once exceptional martial artist with world-class skills in detective work, tracking, assassination, and undercover operations, he had never seen surveillance like Su Ni’s.
Is this the kind of thing those who graduate from the police academy like to do?
"You can gather evidence like that? Who are you going to show it to later? Are you just going to give some photos as a report to your superiors?"
"You don’t understand," Su Ni responded curtly, not even bothering to lift her head.
"...Okay, I don’t understand," Lin Zifeng said nothing further and continued to accompany her in this endeavor.
"By the way, have they come up yet?"
"They all left," Lin Zifeng stated expressionlessly.
"When did they leave?" Su Ni frowned in confusion.
"You can ask them when you get back. I think they’ll be able to give you a perfect explanation," Lin Zifeng didn’t point out the off behavior of the group of junior detectives and wasn’t interested in meddling further. Some things couldn’t be helped just because he was able to.
Su Ni just turned her head to scan a few times, her delicate willow-like eyebrows twitching slightly, then she stopped asking and continued to watch ahead.
"Aren’t you afraid of getting bitten by venomous snakes while lying on the ground like this?" Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but remind her. In this kind of weather and especially in the wilderness, there could be venomous snakes and ants.
"I’m not afraid, I don’t think I, Su Ni, am that unlucky," the woman said with full concentration.
"Then you keep watch here; I’m going to step away for a moment."
Lin Zifeng slowly turned his head, his gaze shooting out two intense beams of light.
He was curious to see what sort of background these junior detectives had.
As for that old cop, just by looking into their eyes, he could guess they all had their own schemes.
But when Lin Zifeng searched the base of the mountain, the ones who had been eating barbecue and drinking beer were nowhere to be seen.
When Lin Zifeng returned, the lights in the cottage had dimmed, and not even a shadow was to be found.
However, Su Ni was wearing a light, tight white shirt on top, with sexy long leather boots on the bottom, highlighting her perfect long legs seductively and enticingly.
Her stunning figure was undoubtedly top-notch!
Yet she was sprawled on the ground, unresponsive for a long time.
Her delicate body trembled weakly on the ground.
Clank!
Lin Zifeng let out an inward cry of alarm and quickly picked Su Ni up.
But at the very moment he reached out, a dirt-yellow Big Snake suddenly sprung from the chaotic underbrush.
The serpent’s head lunged at Lin Zifeng instantly!
Its head was fierce and terrifying, with two sharp fangs exposed in its blood-red mouth and a pair of black eyes fixated on Lin Zifeng.
Lin Zifeng reacted quickly, tossing Su Ni to the side and dodging with a swift movement, narrowly avoiding the Big Snake’s bite.
A large hand shot out incredibly fast and grabbed the snake’s head!
The Big Snake quickly coiled around Lin Zifeng’s arm.
"Hiss!"
A faint Vital Energy burst forth, flinging the snake’s body away, and snake blood filled the air with a mist of blood.
The snake’s body was completely shattered into pieces by Lin Zifeng.
"Viper!"
Shocked, Lin Zifeng hurriedly scooped Su Ni into his arms.
This type of snake is considered one of the most vicious worldwide! They generally come out to harm and hunt for food in the month of X.
If bitten, without timely medical treatment, there’s a high chance of losing life at any moment.
"Damn it!" Lin Zifeng cursed angrily.
He quickly picked up the half-fainting Su Ni to examine her wound closely.
What shocked Lin Zifeng was that the biting spot was right in the armpit!
If not treated in time, it was very likely that Su Ni’s entire arm would be eroded by the snake’s venom, and she might even have to have it amputated in the future!
The distance from the wilderness to Zhonghai City was at least several tens of kilometers, an expanse too long, and even if she were taken back, it was estimated she wouldn’t make it.
"There’s no other way." The man gritted his teeth, his back drenched with sweat that soaked through his clothes.
He promptly held Su Ni in his arms and ripped open her shirt.
Suddenly, an indescribable scene was fully exposed to the man’s view.
There was a clear sign of a snake bite on the woman’s armpit.
Fortunately, it hadn’t swollen up yet, at least there was still hope if she was treated in time.
"Hiss!"
The man roughly tore open the woman’s shirt again.
"What, what are you doing?"
Finally, as Lin Zifeng ripped off Su Ni’s white shirt, the little consciousness she had left slowly began to stir, her lips murmuring incessantly. However, the snake venom was gradually eroding her body; she felt weak and feeble, offering only a half-hearted resistance without any strength.
"Don’t move! You’ve been bitten by a snake. If we don’t treat you now and miss the critical treatment time, not even gods could save you." Lin Zifeng was entirely focused with a solemn expression, no trace of indecency in his eyes; instead, he appeared extremely serious.
It’s worth mentioning that this viper’s venom is extremely malevolent. If not removed in the optimal time, even if Su Ni survived, chances were that her arm would need to be amputated.
"What, what are you trying to do?" Su Ni’s face turned beet red, as if she had sipped a little red wine. Under the snake’s venom, she could clearly feel a sense of helplessness.
Her body was weakened, making her voice soft and delicate.
Yet, in this hazy state, the man’s breathing grew heavier. He tried hard not to glance at her snow-white peaks.
Lin Zifeng paid no attention to her, urgently sucking out all the poison from her wound. Although his actions were somewhat rough, it was all for her own good. Otherwise, he didn’t believe Su Ni would survive.
...
At last, Lin Zifeng extracted all of the tainted blood from the woman’s wound.
With her face regaining a hint of color even in her semi-comatose state, the man found some simple herbs in the mountains. After chewing them, he applied the macerated herbs onto her wound.
Looking at the man sweating profusely in urgency, Su Ni was moved at that moment.
It was an unspoken, silent kind of moved.
She wanted to rise, but the weakness in her body prevented her from exerting any additional strength, to the point where even standing appeared to be a luxury to her.
Feeling her chest still exposed, the woman’s cheeks flushed with blotches of red.
"Alright, the toxic fluid is mostly cleaned out. Now, I’ll take you to the hospital," he said. Without considering Su Ni’s feelings, he picked her up.
Su Ni felt frantic inside—couldn’t he at least straighten out my clothes a bit?
Was he really going to carry her to the hospital bare and exposed?
"Uh, right, almost forgot." The man blushed, embarrassed as he took off his clothes and draped them over Su Ni’s chest.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" the man grumbled.
He’d given her the only remaining shirt he had on. Did she expect him to take off his pants too?
Without speaking, the woman, weak and feeble, blushed and glared at him with her watery eyes, at a loss for words.
Not until they left the mountain and Su Ni’s strength had somewhat returned, just as he helped her into the car, did she unexpectedly turn her head and say with some conviction, "Do you like me or not?"
"..."
I like your eggs! We’ve only known each other for a short time, how could I like you?
Lin Zifeng was so shocked his jaw almost dropped.
"Speak! How are you going to take responsibility for me in the future?" Su Ni asked again with determination.
"Uh, what? No way. The venom’s been sucked clean, hasn’t it? Didn’t your brain also get damaged by the venom?" Lin Zifeng glanced at her a few times, then muttered under his breath.
"I’m asking if you’ll take responsibility for me in the future?"
"Responsibility? What responsibility?" Lin Zifeng inquired.
"You did that to me just now, don’t you plan to take responsibility?"
"Oh, come on! I’m telling you, Su the beauty, don’t joke like that. It’ll scare the pee out of me. You mean just because I saved you and violated you a little, I have to take responsibility for you? If that’s the case, I’ve lived all these years, how many women would I have to be responsible for," the man fished out a cigarette and randomly laughed as he wiped away his sweat.
To him, saving lives was something he’d done too commonly.
Only, today’s episode was indeed a first for Lin Zifeng.
He didn’t think much of it, but Su Ni took it seriously—very seriously.
Although this fiery little policewoman had a bit of a temper and behaved a bit like a boy, as a woman, she was still conservative about her body.
Grown as she was, the man before her had first stolen her kiss and had touched her chest, and now...
Lin Zifeng didn’t consider himself a good citizen, but at least he wasn’t promiscuous.
Unless it was a friends-with-benefits situation where both parties have physical needs, that relationship might be maintained. But for him to casually fall in love with someone was a bit difficult...
