Chapter 307: Young Onmyoji
When Lin Zifeng chased out of the hotel for several miles, he found that the black-clothed men who had abducted Nangong Bing had vanished without a trace!
In an instant, the emotions suppressed deep within Lin Zifeng burst forth, and he threw a punch at a large tree beside him.
They had abducted Nangong Bing right under his own eyes! If anything happened to Nangong Bing, how was Lin Zifeng supposed to explain to Nangong Shui?
Gazing into the pitch-black night, Lin Zifeng glared ahead with his blood-red eyes, already radiating a terrifying brilliance.
Logically deducing, there were only two paths before Lin Zifeng: one was a brightly lit avenue, and the other was a quiet, silent mountain road that led straight to the outskirts of Zhonghai City. It seemed likely that Nangong Bing had been taken along this mountain road to the outskirts.
Based on Lin Zifeng’s acute observation and judgment skills, after chasing for several miles, he eventually spotted the shadows of the black-clothed men on a jungle hillside.
In pitch darkness where he could hardly see his hand before his face, coupled with the weeds scattered throughout the jungle, Lin Zifeng found himself temporarily unable to rescue Nangong Bing in a short time, which inevitably panicked him. He mentally berated himself a hundred times for how careless he had been.
If Nangong Bing had been hurt, Lin Zifeng would regret it for the rest of his life. She had been abducted right before his eyes, and moreover, the adversaries had managed to kidnap Nangong Bing right under his unsuspecting nose. This blatant provocation infuriated Lin Zifeng, especially since he had been completely focused on inside the private room which likely led to this situation.
At this moment, Lin Zifeng pondered endlessly, unable to understand who these people were. Why had they abducted Nangong Bing? Were they enemies from Nangong Bing’s business endeavors? Or had someone hired them to kill Nangong Bing?
Right then, Lin Zifeng’s fury and bloodlust were fully ignited; his fists were clenched so tightly they even made a cracking noise.
But just then, within the nearby jungle, a trembling ensued and countless weeds shook wildly as if possessed!
A creature covered in snow-white fur dashed up the hillside at a speed hard to discern with the naked eye.
In a split second, Lin Zifeng glanced over.
"Meatball!" Lin Zifeng was somewhat surprised.
From within the jungle not far away, the creature, fierce like a tiger and swifter than a cheetah, especially when it ran at full force; its body covered in snow-white fur fluttering in the air, resembled a fierce lion.
Its blood-red eyes radiated an intense killing aura, managing to astonish Lin Zifeng.
"Roar!"
In a mere few seconds, the creature charged forward, roaring furiously like a lion, the Beast King.
Its sturdy legs and sharp claws quickly scooped up the unconscious Nangong Bing, roaring angrily at the three black-clothed men. The echo from its roar resounded across the hillside, its terrifying presence causing one of the men to roll down the hill in fright.
The creature, having lashed out in a frenzy, resembled an ancient divine beast in its unrivaled ferocity.
"What on earth!"
One of them exclaimed.
But a single swipe of the creature’s paw sent two men flying, the powerful force flinging the black-clothed men several meters away.
After lifting Nangong Bing onto itself, the creature, covered in snow-white fur that fluttered without wind and its blood-red eyes coldly fixed on the men, did not seem to harbor any intent to kill them.
In the night, a strange image formed; upon seeing this, the three men hurriedly took to their heels, abandoning any thoughts of capturing their target. They might well lose their lives without even understanding how they died.
Quickly, the three men dashed into the jungle and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Not far away, Lin Zifeng just quietly watched the handsome hero save the day. He didn’t come out but instead hid in the jungle, closely observing every move up ahead.
Seeing the handsome hero had successfully rescued Nangong Bing, his worried heart finally relaxed.
The handsome hero merely glanced indifferently in the direction the three had departed, then, carrying the unconscious Nangong Bing, his eyes fixed on the sky, appearing like an elder who had lived through many hardships.
A moment later, he continued walking towards the jungle’s exit, head drooping.
The desolate and solitary figure involuntarily filled Lin Zifeng with curiosity about this meaty dumpling.
After the handsome hero had left, Lin Zifeng didn’t return but instead continued to follow the direction in which the three had left...
After three hours of pursuit, he finally discovered the traces of the trio in a suburban area.
The three were panting heavily, having struggled to reach their destination.
But the person meeting them was a young boy!
By the suburban riverside, the boy stood quietly alongside the stream, his attire— a classic, oversized robe— gave off a very strange feeling, topped with a white hat decorated with dragon and phoenix designs. His complexion was deathly pale, his lips bluish-red, and his eyelids purple. Under the faint moonlight, the boy appeared relaxed, leisurely grooming his nails with a nail clipper, his lips curling into a faint smirk.
Upon seeing the boy who was meeting them, all three displayed relieved smiles, then hurriedly approached him, but to Lin Zifeng’s great surprise, the boy suddenly brightened his eyes, and a sharp knife appeared in his hand out of nowhere.
A flash of cold light passed.
"Puff...!"
A splash of bright red blood surged meters high, and the three rolled their eyes back, clutching their necks, and fell to the ground.
In just an instant, the three had no time to speak before the boy slit their throats!
From afar in the woods, Lin Zifeng furrowed his brow subconsciously and muttered, "Onmyoji!"
Suddenly! The boy, who had a mocking smile, twitched his ears, and his eyes shot out a chilling glare, scanning in Lin Zifeng’s direction.
Startled! The boy seemed not to have noticed Lin Zifeng’s presence, but Lin Zifeng’s faint muttering had been caught by the sensitive boy.
"Who!"
The boy emitted a voice not matching his age, androgynous, ominously sinister.
Lin Zifeng, with an unlit cigarette in his mouth, leisurely walked out from the trees, looking at the ghost-like figure by the riverside, scoffed and cursed, "You ambiguous creature."
The boy simply turned his body, his eyes as red as blood staring straight at Lin Zifeng’s face, as if ready to devour him at any moment.
Seeing Lin Zifeng mocking him, the boy wasn’t angry. His expression remained unchanged, yet clearly, he was now intent on killing the man before him.
Lin Zifeng, not particularly hateful towards Japanese people nor possessed of youthful radicalism, however, had one issue—he particularly disliked ambiguous creatures, neither male nor female, ghost-like. Just seeing them made him incredibly uncomfortable.
"Who are you?" the boy asked, his voice androgynous and eerily chilling.
"Speak human, I don’t understand you," Lin Zifeng cursed again.
