Chapter 354: 354 Pure Natural Vegetables_1
"Kid, I will help you find that file."
Xu Boyan seriously promised Lu Qingyi. The file might be, as Lu Mohai said, sorted out, but actually of no use, being a piece of waste paper.
"What file?"
Xu Boyan didn’t say a word when he came out, nor did she ask right away. So when Xu Boyan spoke, it came out of the blue for Lu Qingyi.
Xu Boyan: "The file about asexual reproduction."
If she gets the file and shows it to Lu Mohai, she will know whether or not this file has been experimented on by Ruan Qingyang, but right now, it’s regarded as a "piece of scrap."
Whether or not Lu Qingyi is a child born from asexual reproduction can be determined. Even if it’s hard to believe, at least they have to find the evidence.
"Why are you looking for the file?"
A bit lost, Lu Qingyi looked at Xu Boyan and asked, quite puzzled.
Because the file was in her hands.
"Uncle Lu said..."
Xu Boyan relayed to Lu Qingyi everything Lu Mohai had told him, gently rubbing her head, his movement extraordinarily tender.
Lu Qingyi squinted her eyes, falling into deep thought. It seemed she had to make a trip back to the medical organization.
"He doesn’t know your mother is no longer around. He loved your mother very much."
Stated Xu Boyan.
Love can’t be hidden. Xu Boyan could see clearly that Lu Mohai loved Ruan Qingyang very much.
Lu Qingyi nodded: "Mmm."
"Have you ever thought about what your father would be like?"
Xu Boyan asked suddenly, the question seeming abrupt.
If Lu Qingyi was not the child coming from asexual reproduction, then Lu Qingyi should have a father.
"Never thought about it."
Lu Qingyi lowered her gaze. She had never thought about this question, nor did she have the time to think about it.
Father...
It didn’t matter.
If she truly had a father, then why did Ruan Qingyang keep that file by the bedside? Why couldn’t she find any information about it?
Ruan Qingyang was alone when she gave birth, so where was this so-called father?
Xu Boyan also remained silent, the incident from those years remained a mystery.
——
Lu Qingyi went out early the next morning, leaving a note for Xu Boyan, then drove to Happy Hot Pot.
She wanted to finish the scarf as soon as possible and give it to Xu Boyan.
"Qingyi, have you seen Lu Mohai?"
Wen Wanyu asked as Lu Qingyi walked in.
Knowing Lu Qingyi’s temper, she must have gone to see Lu Mohai, but it wasn’t sure whether Lu Mohai had seen Lu Qingyi.
Considering now, Lu Mohai seemed to be secluded from the world, almost never going out.
Lu Qingyi: "I went."
Wen Wanyu asked: "Did you see him?"
Lu Qingyi really resembled Ruan Qingyang, and their characters were not much different either. Probably the biggest difference was that Lu Qingyi was more human than Ruan Qingyang.
Lu Mohai must have been very surprised to see Lu Qingyi.
Lu Qingyi shook her head: "I didn’t go in."
She was not interested in Lu Mohai, what interested her was whether Lu Mohai had any news about Ruan Qingyang.
Unfortunately, Lu Mohai didn’t even know that Ruan Qingyang was gone. He probably didn’t know much else, either.
Lu Qingyi told Wen Wanyu everything she had learned from Xu Boyan.
Wen Wanyu frowned slightly, but she didn’t say much more.
"Lu Mohai loved Qingyang a lot."
After a long while, Wen Wanyu lightly spoke. Her tone was especially serious.
Lu Mohai loved Ruan Qingyang very much, many people knew that back then. Probably the only one who didn’t know was Ruan Qingyang herself.
Lu Qingyi kept her gaze down without saying anything. She knitted the scarf in her hand at a steady pace, neither too fast nor too slow.
Seeing that Lu Qingyi didn’t speak, neither did Wen Wanyu, busying herself with the scarf in her hand.
The two sat in silence, each doing their own work.
"I made a cup of honey water for you."
The boss brought in two cups of honey water and put one in front of Wen Wanyu.
"Qingyi, you should have a cup too."
He then set the other cup in front of Lu Qingyi.
Wen Wanyu liked to drink honey water, the boss would make a cup for her everyday, very much like how Xu Boyan would make warm milk for Lu Qingyi.
"Thank you."
Lu Qingyi nodded at the boss and took a light sip from the cup.
It was sweet, a flavor she liked. She had a sweet tooth and also enjoyed spicy food.
"Old Gu, please pack up the chili peppers in the yard for Qingyi to take home."
Wen Wanyu asked the boss directly.
Anything home-grown was better. The peppers in the yard were grown and sun-dried by herself. If Lu Qingyi liked spicy food, she could take some home.
"Okay."
The boss nodded and left.
"Aunt Wen..."
"I know you like spices. Home-grown is much better than store-bought."
Wen Wanyu said gently as she patted Lu Qingyi’s hand, her voice full of emotion.
All the vegetables and some ingredients in their hot pot were grown by themselves, except for the meat, which they bought. Anything that could be grown, they would try.
Being natural and without additives, it tasted better.
"Anytime you want vegetables, just ask me. Don’t go shop for it anymore. Home-grown tastes much better, with no hormones."
Wen Wanyu said. On the west side of the yard, there were several acres of land for growing fruits and vegetables.
It was reassuring to eat what she’d grown herself. Apart from the hot pot shop, they didn’t have much else to do, just occasional weeding.
"I understand, Aunt Wen."
Lu Qingyi nodded.
"Are there vegetable plots here?"
Lu Qingyi had come straight to see Wen Wanyu and had not wandered around the yard, which was quite big.
"Sure, it’s actually pretty nice to be a farmer."
Wen Wanyu hinted with a slight smile.
Wen Wanyu had always thought that being a farmer was an honorable profession, if only it weren’t so labor-intensive.
She had been accustomed to a luxurious life since childhood. Even though she had left home nearly twenty years ago, she couldn’t endure the hardship of being a real farmer.
All she could do was what she could to maintain a small scale, self-sufficient life.
"All the food we have comes from farmers’ hard work. Although they may seem a little crude and aren’t very wealthy, they benefit many people."
Lu Qingyi said seriously, pausing after each word.
Being a farmer is a glorious profession, yet in many people’s eyes, a farmer is a dirty existence.
